DUAL TV MODULATOR MD-21
The MD-21 modulator includes two TV modulators in one device. MD-21 is compatible with CCTV security
cameras and all home audio-visual devices such as satellite receivers and DVD players. The MD-21 takes AUDIO
and VIDEO signals from two sources and convert them into high-frequency TV signals on two individually set
channels. This signal can by connected to one or more TVs using a coaxial antenna cable. In this way one cable
can be used to transmit analog (broadcast or cable) television together with signals from DVD players, satellite
receivers or security cameras. It is also possible to send this signal to all TV sets in your house. By choosing an
appropriate channel on the TV you can watch broadcast television or any of the additional devices connected
through the modulators.

CONFIGURATION INSTRUCTIONS
CHANNEL SWITCHING
After applying power the display lights up and shows the current TV channel number for A circuit. To change the currently
displayed circuit momentarily press one of the buttons ("<A" or "B>"). To change the TV channel press and hold the button
corresponding to one of the circuits for about 2 seconds. When display starts blinking you can change the channel up and
down using the "<A" and "B>" buttons. After 5 seconds without any button activity the pulsing stops and the displayed channel
is remembered in non-volatile memory. You can then proceed to set the channel for the second circuit.
CHOOSING CHANNEL ALLOCATION STANDARD
The modulator can work with two popular channel allocation standards: OIRT and CCIR (see tables on the next page). To
switch to another standard disconnect the power supply, push both "<A" and "B>" buttons together and reapply power while
holding them. The currently active system will be indicated on the display: "oi" (OIRT) or "cc" (CCIR). Use the buttons to
change it and then cycle the power again to return to normal operating mode.
CHOOSING SOUND SUBCARRIER
Connect the power supply to the modulator while holding the "B>" button. You can then set the sound subcarrier
frequency to be either 5.5 or 6.5 MHz. To return to normal operation disconnect and then reapply power to the device
without holding any buttons.
TEST SIGNAL
To switch to the test signal generation mode connect the power supply to the modulator while holding the "B>" button.
To acknowledge switching to the test signal mode the display will show a pattern of four vertical bars "||||" for a few
seconds. In this mode the modulated output does not depend on the input signal but consists of two white vertical bars
accompanied by a 1kHz acoustic tone. You can change the modulator output channel using the usual buttons and verify
proper configuration of modulator with a particular TV set. You can leave the test mode by disconnecting the power
supply.
ENERGY SAVING
To conserve energy the display goes to sleep after 1 second of inactivity (this only happens when in normal mode).
Pressing any key will bring the display back on and display the currently configured channel.
CONNECTING POWER THROUGH RF-OUT
To power the modulator using a DC injector connected to the remote end of the coaxial cable you have to switch a
jumper inside the enclosure. To do this first remove the back cover of the device and then adjust the jumper according to
the diagram you will find inside. You can then use the DC9-12V socket to supply power to CCTV cameras connected to
the modulator. WARNING: Please note that in this case the maximum total current draw from this socket must be kept
below 200 mA.
