When Christ your life appears,
then you too will appear with him in glory. - Colossians 3:4
WHAT TO YOU KNOW?
“What do you know?” is the question linking
all three readings today. Imagine the shock
waves that shot through the city of Jerusalem
that first Easter morning. Jesus’ body was missing! By the time Peter spoke the words found in
today’s first reading, fifty days had passed, so he
began by saying, in effect, “I take it you know
what has been reported all over Judea about Jesus of Nazareth.”
Of course they knew by then, but in today’s Gospel we are
taken back to the first day. We meet Mary Magdalene exclaiming, “We don’t know where they put him!”
What do we know? In the second reading Paul asks, “Do
you not know that a little yeast leavens all the dough?” Do we
know the power of our own faith? Do we know the effect we
can have on others?
The second collection this weekend is designated
for Education Excellence at St. Joseph School.
EDUCATIONAL EXCELLENCE COLLECTION
The second collection this weekend is for Educational Excellence at Saint Joseph School. Most of our parishioners were
educated and formed their character at our school. Needless to
say, they carry many fond memories of their educational institution which made such an impact on their entire life. During
the Easter season there are many alumni who come home from
various states to celebrate with their families. Whether you are
a graduate of St. Joseph School, a visitor or a parishioner, we
trust that the quality of education of children is the highest priority in your charitable giving. The students of our school depend on your assistance and financial support for their education. Thank you!
NOVENA TO MERCY OF GOD
The Novena to the Mercy of God will begin on Good Friday.
On April 27th which is Divine Mercy Sunday, at 3:00pm we
will recite the Chaplet to the Divine Mercy followed by benediction. We invite all members of our parish ministries and parishioners to join us and become apostles of Divine Mercy under the maternal and loving guidance of Mary.

EASTER MESSAGE FROM THE PASTOR
Christ’s resurrection changed the course of history and affected human life in a profound way. Nothing can be the same
again. Our hopes and happiness spring from the resurrection of
Jesus. The resurrection points out God’s incredible love for
each one of us but sometimes we reject the gift freely given and
build dams and leave a pile of sandbags to keep God out of our
life. Some people try to control their own life and determine
their destiny without seeking God’s help or striving to do God’s
will. You may become arrogant and selfish in our relationship
with others.
Easter announces there is a way forward out of darkness, to
life beyond physical death, and happiness despite suffering. On
behalf of Father Grzegorz, Felician Sisters, children of St. Joseph School and rectory staff, I wish you a blessed and joyful
Easter. Wesolego Alleluja!

NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO SAINT JOSEPH
On Wednesday, April 23rd at 7:00pm the Holy Rosary Sodality will join parishioners for our weekly Novena and Devotion to our Patron Saint.
St. Joseph has been an inspiration to many and is perhaps one
of the most beloved saints among Catholics today. Since his
appearance in the Bible is relatively brief and rather obscure it
leaves us with little knowledge of who he was and what drove
his devotion to an unwavering trust in the Lord. His life as a
husband, foster father, a craftsman, a traveler and a guide can
motivate us through his strength and grace to become a role
model for the Universal Church.
The evening Mass on Wednesday’s is celebrated for the intentions placed in the petition box in the Our Lady of Czestochowa Chapel. Please write your intentions legibly to be read
silently or out loud.
IN HONOR OF ST. JOHN PAUL II
On the eve of the canonization of John Paul II, Saturday,
April 26th after the 4:00PM Mass in unity with the Universal
Church we will dedicate a brief program to a great saint and
leader of the Church.
We invite parishioners and friends to join us for a presentation of Saint John Paul’s teachings and poems and reflect and
reminisce on this once in a lifetime occasion on the Papacy of
this extra-ordinary person.
PARTNERS IN CHARITY
We are grateful to all our parishioners who have donated and
made pledges to our annual Partners in Charity Appeal. As of
April 13th your contributions have totaled to $15,675.
Please remember that many human needs our gifts subsidize
are our Catholic schools and retired priests. Our school does
receive some aid from the Partners in Charity Campaign. There
are several retired priests who served at our Basilica whose
physical well-being depends on the quality care provided with
the assistance of this campaign.
There is still time to make a pledge or use your envelope
supplied in your monthly packet.
CANONIZATION OF TWO POPES
We look forward with great anticipation for the canonization of Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul II on Divine
Mercy Sunday, April 27th.
It is an unprecedented event, sending a powerful message of
unity and sanctity to the world and the Church. It is also a testament to the power of the Holy Spirit working through different gifts in building up the Church for the glory of God.
Who were these men who in their role as “servants of the
servants of God” impacted so significantly the life of the
Church? At first glance, they were two very different people,
shaped by different life experiences. One was surrounded by a
large family to the end, while the other found himself alone
before the age of 21. One saw the rise of communism, while
the other lived under its cruel yoke and eventually helped bring
about its fall. One led the Church for barely five years, while
the other left his mark during a twenty-seven-year pontificate.
One was a pastor at heart and a great diplomat by necessity,
while the other as a scholar-theologian who never hesitated to
use his office to influence the grave political issues of the age.
It is fitting indeed that Pope John XXIII and Pope John Paul
II join the large number of saints from every time, age and
background.

PILGRIMAGE TO POLAND
There are certain places in the world called Shrines, where
God seems to be more attainable, where miracles happen more
often and where people in great numbers are seeking God’s
intervention.
Two of the favorite places are Our Lady of Czestochowa
Shrine in Poland, and St. Joseph Shrine in Kalisz. We will
celebrate Mass and pray at these shrines during our pilgrimage
to Poland on June 23—July 5th.
Everyone of us is in need of God’s favors and blessings and
we take this occasion to fervently pray to God through the intercession of Our Lady of Czestochowa and St. Joseph in a particular intention. There are still three places available. For

NEW BRITAIN PILGRIMAGE
Many parishioners stepped forward to assist the Pilgrims from
New Britain who visited our Basilica during Lent in conjunction with the celebration of St. Joseph Day. They tastefully
decorated the cafeteria, prepared and served lunch to our guests.
We are especially grateful to Mr. Henry Kulma who donated
much food and used his equipment in preparing the meal. We
are thankful for his discipleship.
Many parents of our Saturday school also spent countless
hours in helping to make this day special for our visitors.

On June 13-14 & 15th, we will celebrate our Annual June
Event featuring Polish & American Food, Money Raffle,
Special Gifts, Musical Entertainment, Games of Chance and
much, much more.
Please make your money raffle returns before May 1st to
take advantage of the Early Bird Special for a 2-day stay in
Hyannis.
Next Festival Meeting is at the PACC on Harris St., on
Monday, April 21st at 7:00pm. We ask parishioners, chair
persons and parents of our school children to attend this
important meeting.
Country Store booth is requesting donations of canned
goods/staples, cleaning supplies, etc. to be placed in baskets
provided after April 27th. Thank you for your thoughtful
generosity.
PARISH EVENTS
St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club is planning a bus trip to
Mohegan Sun on Fri., Apr. 25th. Cost is $20pp which includes
a $15 food voucher to be used toward any restaurant or the
buffet and a $15 bet voucher and gratuity for the bus driver.
Bus departs from Webster at 5:00pm and will return about

St. Anne Society Annual Swieconka Dinner will be held on
Sat., May 3rd at 5:30pm at the Polish-American Veterans Club,
Ray St. Webster. A catered buffet menu with home made

tickets—deadline is Apr. 25.
HOLY ROSARY SODALITY
April is recruitment month for the Holy Rosary Sodality with
Communion Breakfast and installation of new members in
May. Please consider becoming part of this group of men and
women dedicated to our Blessed Mother and active supporters
of Children of Mary. The commitment is minimal, the rewards

A heartfelt thank you to all sodality members and
parishioners who participated in the Stations of the “Cross With
Mary”. Special thanks to the Children of Mary and Altar
Servers whose presence added so much to this annual event.
When the youth of our parish participate in an event of this type
it becomes so much more meaningful. We had a guest organist
who commented afterward on the beauty of the service and how
proud he was to have been able to be part of this tradition.

„Gdy się ukaże Chrystus, nasze życie,
wtedy i wy razem z Nim ukażecie się w chwale.” (Kol 3, 4)
Chyba doskonale rozumiemy uczniów z
Emaus: zniechęcenie, utratę nadziei, niewiarę w
możliwość pomocy i ratunku, poczucie
osamotnienia,
osaczenia
przez
niebezpieczeństwo. Zawiodły ich wszystkie
plany życiowe, stracili najlepszego Przyjaciela, z
którym spędzili ostatnie trzy lata i bez którego
nie wyobrażali sobie przyszłości, a przede wszystkim szarpały
ich wyrzuty sumienia, że w krytycznym momencie uciekli i
zostawili Go samego. Teraz Go już nie ma i życie straciło sens.
Dlatego uciekali z Jerozolimy, bo tam wszystko przypominało
im przeszłość.
Nasze przeżycia i reakcje są nieraz bardzo podobne,
niejednokrotnie
przeżywaliśmy
coś
podobnego:
niepowetowaną stratę, która niweczyła wszystko, co dotąd
miało jakiś sens i wartość. Najbardziej bolesne są zawsze straty
wewnętrzne, duchowe, bo straty materialne da się zawsze jakoś
odrobić czy zastapić, ale duchowe spustoszenie trudno
naprawić, żywego człowieka nie da się niczym zastąpić.
Jednakże jest pewne lekarstwo, które jest dobre na wszystko, a
zwłaszcza na choroby duszy. Tym cudownym lekiem jest
Dobra Nowina o Zmartwychwstaniu Chrystusa.

Zmartwychwstanie Chrystusa zmieniło bieg historii i wpłynęło na
życie ludzkości w bardzo głęboki sposób. Nic już nie może być takie
samo. Nasze nadzieje i szczęście zakorzeniają się w
zmartwychwstaniu Jezusa. Wielkanoc wskazuje na drogę wiodącą z
ciemności, na życie poza śmiercią fizyczną, i na szczęście, mimo

NOWENNA I NABOŻEŃSTWO DO ŚWIĘTEGO JÓZEFA
W środę, 23 kwietnia o godzinie 19:00 Holy Rosary Sodality dołączy
do innych parafian w naszej cotygodniowej Nowennie do naszego
patrona.
Józef był inspiracją dla wielu i to chyba jest to jeden z najbardziej
lubianych świętych pośród współczesnych katolików. Mimo, iż
informacje o Nim w Biblii są stosunkowo niewielkie i raczej niejasne,
jednak dają nam pewną wiedzę, kim był i co kierowało Jego oddaniem
i niezachwianą ufnością w Pana. Jego życie jako męża, przybranego
ojca, rzemieślnika, podróżnika i przewodnika może nas motywować
poprzez swoją siłę i łaskę, by kierować się nim jako wzorem dla
Kościoła powszechnego.
Msza św. na środowy wieczór będzie sprawowane w intencjach
składanych w kaplicy Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej. Prosimy
napisać swoje intencje czytelnie, drukowanymi literami i zaznaczać
opcję, czy prośba ma być czytana po cichu czy głośno.
KU PAMIĘCI
W sobotę, 26 kwietnia i w niedzielę 27 kwietnia w Bazylice
Świętego Józefa będziemy obchodzili dni pamięci ku czci świętego
Jana Pawła II. Zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół na specjalną
prezentację po Mszach o godz. 16:00 w sobotę, oraz po Mszach o
godz. 9:30 i 11:00 w niedzielę. Dołącz do nas w ten jeden szczególny
dzień w życiu, który daje okazję do refleksji i przypomnienia sobie
posługi tego nadzwyczajnego papieża, którego życie stało się również
częścią naszego instniena.
NOWENNA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Nowenna do Miłosierdzia Bożego rozpocznie się w Wielki Piątek.
W dniu 27 kwietnia, w Niedzielę Miłosierdzia Bożego, o godz. 15:00
będziemy odmawiać Koronkę do Miłosierdzia Bożego, po której
następuje błogosławieństwo najświętszym sakramentem oraz adoracja
relikwii św. Jana Pawła II . Zapraszamy wszystkich członków naszej
parafii i grup parafialnych do wspólnej modlitwy i podjęcia wezwania,
aby stać się apostołami Bożego Miłosierdzia pod przewodem naszej
Matki, Maryi.
KANONIZACJA DWÓCH PAPIEŻY
Kanonizacja to formalne i ostateczne uznanie przez Kościół
heroicznej świętości jednego z Jego zmarłych członków. Poprzez
kanonizację, imię osoby jest wpisana do kanonu świętych, co oznacza,
że jest ona na zawsze częścią oficjalnej listy tych, którzy są
powszechnie czczeni przez wiernych jako świętych w Kościele.
Czekamy z wielką niecierpliwością przez wiele lat na kanonizacji
papieży Jana XXIII i Jana Pawła II. Ostatecznie ta wielkie wydarzenie
będzie miało miejsce w Niedzielę Miłosierdzia Bożego, 27 kwietnia.
Jest to wydarzenie bez precedensu, wysyłające potężne przesłanie o
jedności i świętości dla świata i Kościoła. Jest również dowodem na
moc Ducha Świętego działającego przez różne dary w procesie
budowania Kościoła na chwałę Boga .
Kim byli ludzie, którzy w ich roli jako "słudzy sług Bożych" tak
znacząco wpłynęli na życie Kościoła? Na pierwszy rzut oka były to
dwie różne osoby, ukształtowane przez różne doświadczenia życiowe.
Jeden był otoczony rodziną do końca, podczas gdy drugi znalazł się
sam na ponad 21 lat. Jeden doświadczył powstania komunizmu, a

PIELGRZYMKA Z NEW BRITAIN
Z okazji odpustu parafialnego ku czci naszego patrona Sw. Józefa,
16 marca odwiedziła nas pielgrzymka z New Britain, aby wspólnie z
nami prosić o łaski Boże za jego wstawiennictwem.
Jak zwykle z takim przyjazdem łączy się dużo przygotowań i
chciałem wyrazić swoją wdzięcznosć dla rodziców dzieci ze polskiej
sobotniej szkoły za przejęcie patronatu nad godnym przyjęciem
pielgrzymów. Aby nikogo nie pominąć, pragnę podziękować
wszystkim, którzy od wczesnych godzin rannych przygotowywali
smaczny posiłek i deser, jak też dekorowali kafeterię. Dziękuję
również panu Henrykowi Kulmie, który zakupił i przyrządził dwa
rodzaje pieczeni, za jego czas i ofiarnosć, jak też Bernadecie
Stachowicz i Adamowi Rogalskiemu za prrzygotowanie i prowadzenie
stoiska z dewocjonaliami. Dziękuję też parafianom, którzy przyniesli
ciasta. Taka wspólna praca na chwałę Bożą, miała szczegółny wymiar
w okresie Postu Wielkanocnego, kiedy to wszyscy powołani jestesmy
do wykonywania dobrych uczynków dla Boga i bliźniego. Jestem
Wam niezmiernie wdzięczny i proszę Boga szczególne
błogosłąwieństwo dla wszystich, którzy w jakikolwiek sposób
przyczynili się do godnego przeżycia tego swiętego dnia przez
