moment on religious songs have begun to merge with military songs, and Mother of God became
a symbol of the unity of religious and patriotic.

Appeal of Jasna Gora - devotion, prayer - component Jasna Gora Vows of the Polish Nation.
First Appeal of Jasna Gora was held December 8, 1953, and chaired by Fr Jerzy Tomziński.
Appeal of Jasna Gora is a prayer addressed to the intentions of the Queen of Polish and Polish
Church. Daily Appeal made for the Church in Poland, persecuted by the totalitarian regime.
The service is celebrated every day at 21:00 in the chapel of the Image of Our Lady of
Czestochowa at Jasna Gora. Sometimes the Jasna Gora Appeal is also used in special occasions,
such as parish missions, the anniversary of the death of Pope John Paul II.

Odsłonięcie Cudownego Obrazu, rozpoczyna się odśpiewaniem Bogurodzicy, następnie
trzykrotnie śpiewana jest właściwa formuła apelu.
Bogurodzica – najstarsza utrwalona polska pieśń religijna i najstarszy zachowany polski tekst
poetycki.
Utwór powstał w średniowieczu, najprawdopodobniej na przełomie XIII i XIV wieku. Pierwszy
zapis tekstu jest późny, bo z początku XV wieku, wcześniejsze zapisy mogły zaginąć, ale też
tekst mógł krążyć w obiegu ustnym.
Bogurodzica pełniła – według współczesnych pojęć – rolę hymnu państwowego.
Bogurodzica po (oczywistym) okresie ustnego obiegu tekstów jest pierwszą zapisaną pieśnią
religijną w literaturze polskiej. Nie ma tytułu, a określamy ją według pierwszego wyrazu tekstu
(w najstarszym przekazie są to 2 osobno zapisane słowa: "Bogu rodzica"). Nie jest też pieśnią
maryjną, ale modlitwą do Maryi i do Chrystusa, intelektualnie ujętym wyznaniem wiary.
Z czasem Bogurodzica stała się pieśnią bojową polskiego rycerstwa – jak podaje Jan Długosz
śpiewano ją przed bitwą pod Grunwaldem, a później np. przed bitwą pod Warną. Została także
odśpiewana podczas koronacji Władysława Warneńczyka. Cały obrzęd koronacji odbywał się po
łacinie, jedynie Bogurodzica wykonana została w języku polskim.
Była także przez wiek XV hymnem królewskim dynastii Jagiellonów. Od tej chwili pieśni
religijne zaczęły się łączyć z pieśniami wojskowymi, a Bogurodzica stała się symbolem jedności
religijno-patriotycznej.
