VVIP ABOUT BALTEXPO Waldemar Pawlak, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of the Economy (2007-2012) "The BALTEXPO International Exhibition has been held for 30 years now, thanks to which it has become a lasting element of economic life not only in Poland. The exhibition is the biggest event of its kind in Central and Eastern Europe and is of major importance for the whole region" - catalogue Baltexpo 2011 Cezary Grabarczyk, Minister of Infrastructure (2007-2011) "The topics of this year's exhibition also include marine wind energy. The infrastructure ministry has undertaken measures to create conditions for the construction of wind farms at sea, by removing administrative barriers to the investment process. Changing the legal regulations on locating wind farms at sea and drawing maps of their potential locations within Polish sea territory creates favourable conditions for the development of this eco-friendly energy source" - catalogue Baltexpo 2011 Pawe³ Adamowicz, Mayor of Gdañsk "We are also hopeful observing the development of companies in the shipbuilding sector, which despite the fluctuating market situation are looking for new places for themselves on the market. Our greatest hopes today are pinned on renewable energy and the dynamic development of yacht shipyards and boatyards" - catalogue Baltexpo 2011 Roman Zaborowski, Governor of Pomerania Province (2007-2011) "For Polish and foreign companies alike, the BALTEXPO exhibition is an opportunity to establish advantageous trade relations and find new sales markets" - catalogue Baltexpo 2011 BALTEXPO Main Partner: BALTEXPO Main Media Partner : Partner Polish-Norwegian Maritime Business Forum Main Partner: Partner Conference I: Partner Conference III: BALTEXPO Media Patronage: MARKET FLASH ECONOMY AND ITS' ATTRACTIVENESS FOR INVESTORS Poland's qualities as an investment location tend to be highly assessed by a number of reports published by the world's leading consultancy firms. Recently published studies and reports indicate that Poland is considered as an one of the European leaders in terms of foreign investments. According to the World Investment Prospects Survey 2010 - 2012 conducted by UNCTAD, Poland has been ranked 12th in the world as the most attractive location for FDI and 3rd in Europe. A considerable economic growth - in 2010 3,9% GDP growth, i.e. one of the highest in the EU, and in 2011 estimated to 4,3% - was one of the main reasons for the decline of unemployment rate. It is supported by the relatively low labour costs and steadily increasing labour productivity. In the years 2000- 2010 Poland's exports value increased nearly 3,5 times. l l DEVELOPMENT OF THE MARITIME ECONOMY Polish Maritime Economy in 2011 continued its' development as an important sector of national economy. Strategic programmes conducted by the polish seaports, aimed at complex improvement of their competitive strength by improving both the infrastructure and the services. The results of these actions can be visible through increasing cargo turnover observed in 2011 and financial results as well. In 2011 r. cargo turnover in polish ports reached 57,7 mln tons, increasing in Elbl¹g by 113,5%, in Dar³owo - by 84,2%, in Ko³obrzeg - by 79,5%, in Police - by 10,6%, in Gdynia - by 5,2% and in Szczecin - by 1,2%. Despite the non-favorable situation in shipyard industry, many of the polish shipyards in 2011 kept or increased their competitive strength internationally, due to the diversification of their business activity. In 2011, the polish shipyards have repaired 600 vessels, accomplishing the contracts for 290 mln EUR - in comparison, in 2010 the total quota of repair contracts was 230 mln EUR. Simultaneously, polish shipyards, responding to the growing competition in global market, have broaden the range of their services (eg. offshore vessels construction) In 2011 polish shipyards started 20 new contracts for ships of total 142.000 CGT. In 2011 ships used by polish enterprises carried over 7.737.000 tons of cargo. l OFFSHORE & WIND POWER PLANTS In 2011, in order to facilitate investments in offshore wind farms, located within polish exclusive economic area, appropriate legislation appeared. As a result, in 2011 32 applications were submitted to the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Maritime Economy, regarding the offshore wind farms. It is one of the most rapidly developing sector of the polish economy. The components for the wind farms are also important part of polish shipyard's production. 17th International Maritime Exhibition BALTEXPO - 2013 Administrative notes Date: September 3rd - 5th, 2013 How to exhibit and to register by Timing: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. n Venue: Gdañsk, Poland AMBEREXPO Exhibition and Convention Centre, 11 ¯aglowa St., 80-560 Gdañsk, Poland ACCOMODATION For hotel reservation please contact: LAUER Biuro Podró¿y ul.
