The Polish American Society of Charleston
Two Years and Counting
The Polish American Society, the major Polish American club in the Charleston area, reached a
major milestone this fall. Our general membership meeting held on September 19 marked two
years of successful club activities and the election of a slate of officers for the next two years.
We would like to thank the first Executive Committee for starting the club and introducing a
series of popular activities. We also thank the businesses that have supported the club over the
last two years: Kiawah House Care, Kate Puck Jewelry, Hair by Nero, and Euro Foods.
Upcoming Club Activities
The Opłatek celebration will be held on Thursday, December 12. Details are listed below.
A “Karniwal” style party will be held in February. Details will be forthcoming soon.
Film showings, poetry readings, novel discussions will be hosted in our homes beginning in
January. Send us your suggestions. We hope to offer these fun evenings bi-monthly.
Invitation to Our Opłatek Celebration
Members are cordially invited to attend our third annual Opłatek celebration including
singing Polish and English Christmas carols.
Time and Date: 6:30 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, December 12
Location:
14 Anson Street, Charleston
As befitting the Christmas season, the venue is the building with the actual stables of
the Old South Carriage Co. Come join the fellowship with your other members in
celebrating Oplatek, a truly heartwarming Polish Christmas tradition. We will share the
Christmas wafer, wish each other a merry Christmas, and sing some of our favorite
Christmas carols. There is no admission fee for this event.
Members may bring guests, but space is very limited. To participate, members must

Make a connection with our Polish heritage and enjoy good fellowship with the Polish American
Society of Charleston. New or renewal annual membership for 2014 is $25.00. Please mail a

Our goal is to cultivate and maintain Polish traditions, culture, language, and fellowship among
members of the Society and to share our cultural heritage with the Charleston community. We
have organized dinner dances, a banquet, December opłatek ceremonies, picnics, and cultural
activities; and our web page polishcharleston.org and our Facebook page
facebook.com/polishcharleston serve as a conduit to announce items of interest to Polish
Americans in the Charleston area.
