Transfer between groups is not possible.
Attendance at seminars and exercises is compulsory.
Being 15 minutes late for class is equal to an absence.
Eating, drinking, and having any food or beverages during classes is not allowed.
Using any electronic equipment during classes is not allowed without the permission of
TA.
Recording and taking pictures of slides during seminars is not allowed – presentations are
protected by copyright law.
Absence in class will be accepted only with a medical certificate of temporary disability
obtained from a physician or with an excuse approved by the Dean's office*.
Such excuse should be presented to the course coordinator within 2 weeks after the first
day of absence. After this time absences will not be excused.
In accordance to PUMS regulations a student may be allowed to miss no more than 10%
of classes in a given course. Therefore during Cell Biology course a student may be
absent only during one seminar (absence needs to be justified with a formal note).
In case of more than one absence, to receive the credit, student must apply to the Dean of
Faculty for permission to take a supplementary class or classes and will be charged
additionally for it, according to the fees set by the Dean’s office.
Completing the missed classes is necessary before taking the final test. Not completing
this condition before the final test precludes the student from taking the test. Such absence
as well as an unexcused absence during the final test is equal to a fail in the test.
In cases concerning procedures not included in the present Cell Biology Course
Regulations, School Regulations apply.
Quizzes
There will be an obligatory quiz concerning the covered topics in each seminar and each
exercise. Each quiz will be granted maximum 5 points. A student needs to obtain in total
at least 24 points to be allowed to take the final test. In case of getting less than 24 points
student may take an integrated test from the material covered by quizzes, which will take
place at the end of the course (2nd November 2015 at 16:30-17:30 and retake on 6th of
November 2015 at 18:00-19:00). The student is entitled to repeat this test only once.
Student has the right to see each of his/her written papers or answer sheet within 5
working days following the announcement of the results.
*On the condition that the absence is excused, students who were absent in class, they
may take the missed quiz on 2nd November 2015 at 16:30-17:30.
List of topics to be covered in the quiz can be found at:
http://www.katbiolkom.ump.edu.pl/dydaktyka_en.htm
or
http://pums.ump.edu.pl/programs/6-year-m-d-program/curriculum-overview-for-the-6year-m-d-program/
Final test
There will be a written examination at the end of the course on 18th of November at
15:15-16:30 pm at Examination room, Parkowa 2.
Using any electronic equipment during the test is not allowed!!!
The test will consist of 30 multiple choice questions. It will cover problems from both
seminars and the exercises. To get credit from the test, 60% of questions must be
answered correctly.
There will be two retakes of the final test.
Retake I: 25th of November 2015 at 15:15 – 16:30 pm at Examination room, Parkowa 2.
Retake II: 2rd of December 2015 at 15:15 to 16:30 pm at Examination room, Parkowa 2.
Credit
To get credit from Cell Biology attendance on the seminars and exercises as well as
passing quizzes and the final test are obligatory.
Final grades classification
Course grades will be calculated based on final test scores.
-
very good (5.0)
- 90% and more
better than good (4.5) - ≥ 85%
good (4.0)
- ≥ 80%
fairly good (3.5)
- ≥ 75%
satisfactory (3.0)
- ≥ 66%
unsatisfactory (2.0)
- <60%, failed
Exemptions
An exemption allows students, who completed Cell Biology at university level, to be absent at
the seminaries and exercises.
Taking the final test is still obligatory.
Completing the course is essential to be able to take NBME exam.
