ARCHDIOCESE OF CHICAGO
OFFICE OF THE ARCHBISHOP
October 18, 2015
Dear Friends,
The visit of Pope Francis last month to our country
was a vivid reminder of the unity we share as Catholics throughout the world, especially with those living
in poverty and in missionary lands. This month he is
asking us to join him in giving expression to that
unity by supporting the Churches at the margins
through the annual collection on World Mission Sunday. While we may not be the ones who travel afar to
preach the Gospel, we can be missionary disciples by
our generous support of those who do.
As we think about participating in this worldwide effort to spread the Gospel through the Holy Father’s
Society for the Propagation of the Faith, we in the
United States should remember that the Church in
this nation was under this very same Vatican designation up until the last century. People from around the
world donated generously as our dioceses were created, our parishes were built, and priests and religious
from foreign lands came here to provide leadership.
In fact, even to this day we enjoy the generosity of
many priests and religious from other lands who
serve in our parishes. We have been blessed by the
sacrifices of others, and now it is our turn. We have
been blessed with faith and abundant resources. Now
the Pope is asking us to help him help others.
While I know that many parishes have their own missionary efforts through twinning and other relationships with dioceses and parishes abroad, the annual
collection on World Mission Sunday provides us as
the Archdiocese of Chicago an opportunity to join
together in expressing our solidarity with Pope Francis by generously supporting this collection. When he
came to our country as a missionary last month, he
pointedly reminded us of our heritage of once being a
mission Church, but he also urged us now to be a
Church with a mission. The churches supported by
the Pope’s Society for the Propagation of the Faith
oftentimes suffer from great poverty, and even violent persecution, social unrest, and wars. They need
our help. They need our financial support, and they
need our prayers.
By contributing to the appeal on World Mission Sunday we are saying to our brothers and sisters around
the globe: You are not forgotten! The Church is with
you in spirit; we embrace you and we seek justice.
Catholics living in these troubled parts of the world,
in more than a thousand dioceses, need us to be the
merciful, compassionate presence of Christ. They
need us to bring them the hope that comes through
solidarity. Let’s let the Holy Father know we stand
with him.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Blase J. Cupich
Archbishop of Chicago
FIRST GRADE NEWS
The first graders started the year off with great enthusiasm and energy. We were happy to see our
friends from last year and welcomed new students to
our class. We have new supplies, new books and our
very own desks. Homework is now assigned every
day and we have more responsibilities this year.
Everyday Mathematics is our new math series. We
are using games, manipulative and partner activities
to help develop math skills. We are eagerly looking
forward to our first field trip to Safety Town at the
Harlem Irving Plaza. What a busy start to a new
school year!

fun. No one went home hungry or bored.
Our next parish event will be a Living Rosary on October 20th at 7:00pm. Everyone will meet in the
church to pray together. So come and join Fr. Robert

LIVING ROSARY
In recognition of the 100th Year Anniversary the Ladies Auxiliary would like to invite everyone to come
and pray the “Living Rosary” on Tuesday, Oct. 20th.
Each year we dedicate the Rosary to “Our Lady of
the Rosary”, asking her to help us with any special
intentions we may have. Rosary begins at 7:00pm in
church –All are welcome! Coffee and sweets will be
served.
Remember during the month of October we pray the
rosary for the Synod of Bishops in Rome. The
month of October is dedicated to our Blessed Mother
Mary. Everyone is invited to pray the rosary week
days at 7:30am followed by the Mass at 8:15am.
Also on Sunday, we pray the rosary at 6:45am, before our 7:30am Mass. We pray especially for pregnant women and for an end to abortion.
All Souls Day is Nov 2. This year we would like to
honor those who have gone before us in a special
way. We will be accepting photos of your loved ones
to place on the Holy Family altar where they remain
thru out the Month of November. Bring photos only –
no frames – to the rectory. Make sure your name, address and phone number are on the back of the photo
so they can be returned to you.
Also on Tuesday, Nov 3, we will again have a Mass
of Remembrance with a candle ceremony at 7:00 P.M.
in the church. Candles will be available that evening
for an offering of $3 for each candle. Inscribe the
name of your loved one on these candles and place
them around the main altar during the service where
they will remain.

MEDYTACJA AD IEDZIEL Ą EWA GELIĄ
29 iedziela Zwykła – odmienne Boże drogi
1. Jakub, Jan i my. Przez 3 lata cała firma ciężko
pracowała, wszyscy pracownicy dawali z siebie wszystko,
firmy wstaje i mówi do szefa, żeby zrobił go menadżerem
zarządzającym całą resztą. Możesz sobie wyobrazić, jaką
złość wzbudził on takim zachowaniem u innych
znajomych-pracowników firmy. Oni wszyscy przecież
ciężko wspólnie pracowali na sukces. Dlaczego niby on
ma mieć specjalne względy u swojego szefa?
2. Odpowiedź Jezusa. Ten powyższy scenariusz
wydarzeń pokazuje nam współcześnie sytuację, jaka się
wydarzyła w Ewangelii, kiedy to Jakub i Jan poprosili
innych, otrzymać specjalne miejsca w chwale niebieskiej?
Królestwo jakie chciał zaprowadzić, to królestwo miłości i
W jaki sposób On Cię woła do
ziemi? Jaką dasz Mu odpowiedź? Zapraszam na
spotkanie biblijne w srode, 23.X, godz. 20:00!
