CZYŃCIE TO NA MOJĄ PAMIĄTKĘ
In this Jubilee Year of Mercy, the Lectionary’s Year of Luke presents a Gospel in which Jesus, who has welcomed, taught, healed, and shown God’s mercy to the multitude, refuses the Twelve’s demand to dismiss the crowd before him. Instead, he says, “Give them some food yourselves” (Luke 9:13). In Jesus’ hands, what little the Twelve has feeds five thousand (“men,” and probably as many women and children), leaving twelve baskets so the Twelve can continue Jesus’ ministry of mercy. Pope Francis has asked how we celebrate and live the Eucharist. Do we keep it to ourselves? Or do we “commune” not only with Jesus but with the multitude whom Jesus has given us to cherish? Entrusted to Jesus and shared with others, our limited resources can go a long way. Recognizing Jesus in the Eucharist demands that we recognize Jesus also in the hungry crowd. Prosimy pamiętać, że w najbliższy piątek przypada Pierwszy
Piątek miesiąca. Zapraszamy wszystkich do naszej świątyni
na adorację Najświętszego Sakramentu, oraz na Mszę św. o
godz. 7-mej wieczorem.
W dzisiejszą niedzielę Kościół przypomina nam
Wieczerzę Pańską, kiedy to Chrystus po raz
pierwszy wypowiedział nad chlebem
wszechmocne słowa, które zwykły chleb przemieniają
w „chleb życia”, w Jezusowe Ciało.
W dniu dzisiejszym miliony katolików na całym
świecie gromadzą się, aby uwielbiać Chrystusa w
Eucharystii, aby złożyć Mu „dzięki” za Jego
bezgraniczną miłość, za to, że raczył z nami pozostać
na tej ziemi. Słowa Chrystusa „Czyńcie to na moją
pamiątkę” ponawiane są nieustannie na ołtarzach
całego świata.
Dzisiejsza Ewangelia opowiada nam, że
tysiące ludzi poszło za Jezusem na pustynię.
Spragnieni Jego słowa i miłości zapomnieli, że
potrzeba im także chleba. Widząc te zgłodniałe
rzesze ludzi, Chrystus nakarmił ich w cudowny
sposób. Znalazło się pięć chlebów i dwie ryby, a Jezus
spojrzał w niebo i odmówiwszy nad nimi
błogosławieństwo, połamał i dawał uczniom, by
podawali ludowi. Jedli i nasycili się wszyscy i zebrano
jeszcze dwanaście koszów ułomków, które im
zostały.
Ta sama sytuacja powtarza się i dzisiaj i
każdego dnia, kiedy gromadzimy się wokół Chrystusa
i Jego ołtarza. Nie jesteśmy tutaj spragnieni chleba,
ale potrzebujemy prawdy, miłości i życia. Chrystus
daje nam tutaj cudowny chleb życia wiecznego—czyli
samego siebie pod postacią chleba, byśmy nie ustali
na drodze naszego pielgrzymowania do Boga.
Chrystus mówi i dziś do nas te same słowa co
kiedyś: „Jeżeli nie będziecie spożywali Ciała Syna
Człowieczego i nie będziecie pili Krwi Jego, nie
będziecie mieli życia w sobie” (J. 6, 53). Zbawiciel
chciał pozostawić w naszych rękach swoją zbawczą
ofiarę krzyżową, największy dowód Jego miłości;
ofiarę życia i swiętości. Żeby uwiecznić tę ofiarę,
postanowił, że ma się ona codziennie ponawiać
w cudowny sposób na wszystkich ołtarzach świata.
Bez chleba, który daje nam nasza ziemia, nie
może żyć nasze ciało; bez chleba który daje nam
Niebo—czyli Chrystus, nie może żyć nasza dusza.
Zatem starajmy się jak najczęściej przyjmować ten
Chleb, który daje nam Życie Wieczne—czyli Komunię
Świętą.

Memorial Day
This year, Memorial Day will be celebrated on Monday, May 30th. This holiday is set aside to
publicly honor and pray for the men and women of our nation’s military who have given their
lives in the defense of our country.
Unfortunately, for too many people, the holiday has become less than a time of prayer and
honor. We are bombarded with “Memorial Day Sales”, parties, picnics and every other focus
rather than on that of our fallen heroes. It has become merely a day off from work and a kick-off
for summer. Without the sacrifices of those brave people who have made the ultimate sacrifice
for our country throughout its history, freedom at home and abroad would have been lost.
With our military in peril with wars on two fronts and stationed in countless places around the
world, we owe the fallen our prayers and honor. It is the least we can do for their sacrifices to
ensure the freedoms which we, all too often, take for granted. As they say, “Freedom isn’t free.”
Someone has to pay the price and members of our military who died in the line of duty have
done so for us.
Our parish is blessed with many veterans. As a veteran myself, I know the sacrifices they have
made. In battle, they suffered the horrific loss of countless comrades who were killed and not as
lucky as the veterans who returned home to see their children and grandchildren grow up. I
know of at least one parishioner who survived the attack on Pearl Harbor where he saw 2,335 of
his comrades perish in the line of duty on one December morning in 1941.
Parties, picnics and parades are fine, but, this year, let’s not let Memorial Day go by without
first gathering to offer our prayers for the souls of the brave departed. At St. Priscilla, there will
be the regular morning Mass at 8:00 am. I urge all members of our parish family, both young
and old, to gather at the 8:00 Mass. I especially urge veterans to attend to give honor to and
remember their fallen comrades. I even invite veterans to wear medals received, parts of
uniforms or VFW or American Legion uniforms or hats to show solidarity with those friends lost
in battle. Let’s make this Memorial Day memorable.
As we gather on Memorial Day at 8:00 to implore Almighty God’s eternal rest upon the fallen,
your presence (or lack of) will show our Lord how grateful we are as a parish family of those
who have sacrificed for us and of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who made the ultimate
sacrifice on the cross for our salvation.
May God bless our veterans, both living and deceased.

On Sunday, May 15, we celebrated a special Mass commemorating the 72nd Anniversary of the Battle at Monte
Cassino and honoring the Polish 5th Kresowa Infantry Division combatants, as well as the Polish Army Veterans
Association in America (SWAP) . Thank you for your service! The main celebrant of the Mass was Fr. Marcin Gładysz,
our Associate Pastor.
W niedziele, 15go maja, celebrowaliśmy 72-ga rocznice Bitwy pod Monte Cassino oraz uhonorowaliśmy
Kombatantów z 5-tej Kresowa Dywizja Piechoty jak również Stowarzyszenie Weteranów Armii Polskiej w Ameryce
(SWAP). Głównym celebransem tej uroczystej Mszy św. był ks. Marcin Gładysz, wikariusz par. św. Pryscylli.
ECHO Chicago is a Theology of the Body Summer
Camp where young adults unpack and process the
themes of prayer, identity and the mission to love.
Invited are entering High School Juniors and Seniors,
as well as graduating Seniors and young adults. Due
