This list includes published and unpublished records as well –
and a supplement for the Salticidae. We do NOT list those
species, which are marked as unpublished with "fide" AND
are not listed in the red data list of Poland (Starega et al.
2002).

in anderen Arbeiten publizierte Nachweise (mit konkreten
Zitaten)/records published in other papers (cited in detail).
BE, NL, CZ:
For species which occur only in warmhouses and similar
habitats and which breed there independent of human
influence.
Nomenclature and familial affiliation follow Platnick (2004 – Version 5.0, June 16, 2004). Papers that will be
included in the next version of the online catalogue can be already included here. Especially concerning the changes
proposed by Wunderlich (2004a-d), only those are incorporated which will be accepted by Platnick (pers. comm.) in
the next version of the online catalogue.
Frequently used synonyms are noted (as well as differently used first years of description - with the exception of
"Clerck, 1758" - or parentheses), especially if these occur in the used sources. Furthermore, information on
distribution from Platnick (2004) is added (with kind permission of N. Platnick).
The lists also include valid and revised species, which have been not found again for a long time (presumably
extinct). But, for example, all species are NOT listed all species, for which probably Platnick (2004) notes the
country., The decisive criterion is the checklist of each country.

Evaluation of the years of the first description for the 1313 spider species from the eight participating
countries
Fig. 1: Years of the first description for the 1313 spider species divided into 25 year sections (the totals for each
quarter-century are given in a table below the figure).
Short discussion of Fig. 1:
• between 1825 and 1899 two thirds of all known spider species from these eight countries were described
• since 1900 quite a stable number (63 to 77) have been described in each part of 25 years
• from 1900 to 1999 no regressive tendency is visible
