Investing in education for the young meetings professional
The annual ICCA Silent Auction will run once more throughout the 48th
ICCA Congress & Exhibition in Florence, Italy.
Wonderful prizes have been donated from generous companies all over
the world, and they will be on display at the ICCA Silent Auction stand in
the Exhibition area of the Congress.
Bids for each item are anonymous and the highest bid received by
Tuesday 10 November will win the prize.
What is the ICCA Silent Auction?
The ICCA Silent Auction contributes to the ICCA Education Fund. This fund
provides educational opportunities for Young Meetings Professionals and
helps raise professional standards in the International Meetings Industry.
Objectives of the ICCA Education Fund
To create educational opportunities for Young Meetings Professionals,
thereby helping raise the professional standards in the International
Meetings Industry.
To provide educational support for Young Meetings Professionals in
whatever way possible to regenerate the meetings industry for cities
and regions that have experienced a crisis (for circumstances beyond
their control, ie: war, economic crisis, environmental disaster, which has
affected their meetings industry).
Where do the proceeds go?
The proceeds of the ICCA Silent Auction go to the ICCA Education
Fund, investing in education for the Young Meetings Professional. The
Fund, among other things, financially supports the Forums for Young
Professionals at EIBTM and AIME.

- 2007 Seoul Best Handcraft, Grand Prize Award
This product called as Najeon Chilgi is the work of mother-of-pearl with a
touch of abalone, a conch of a pearl oyster. When the original shape gets
made (called as “aek-gol”), we varnish them with a lacquer or carsue with
a well-dried and smooth old tree, and we also add some scraps of cloth
and other material.
It approximately takes about 3 to 6 months to have the finished product.
Looking at the origins of the Najeon Chilbi, we can go back to the
Nak Rang period. According to the research and relics, Najeon Chilgi
prevailed during the Shilla period (7-10c), and the government operated
a workshop system to make Najeon Chilgi products in the reign of King
Munjong in Koryo, 11th century.
Najeon Chilgi made during that period were presented to the Kings and
envoys of other countires. Now those which are safely kept in museums
throughout Japan, Germany, U.S.A., England and the Netherlands are
pieces of Jaheon Chilgi art which represent the history and art of Korea,
Lacquer varnished in Najeon Chilgi is extremely strong and very long
lasting. The polish is comfortably mild and also it shines very softly.

Terry was voted best defender in the UEFA Champions League in both
