New Map of Eastern Europe Projekt pobytu Challenges to Territorial Integrity of Ukraine on Southwestern Borders. New Map of Eastern Europe Ukraine is a multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic and multicultural country. According to the demographic records for 2016, its population is more than 44 million people with home to almost 130 nationalities, where people live together based on the principles of cultural diversity and historic peculiarities. It is worth to mention that even though the fact of ethnic diversity, the Ukrainian legal system currently does not recognize dual citizenship. However, there are people who hold dual citizenship particularly in southwestern regions of Ukraine, which are located on the border line of Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland. The Ukrainian law states that after gaining Ukrainian citizenship the new Ukrainian citizen must renounce its non-Ukrainian citizenship(s) within two years. Meanwhile, we should take into consideration that the military intervention in Ukraine and illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russian Federation undermined the world order established after World War II. In this sense Russia got large scale endorsement by the citizens of Ukraine who had in that moment the citizenship of two and more states. Following this evident case, my academic purpose is to articulate the main current tasks for the Security Service of Ukraine and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine as to prevent further emergence of this type vivid threats and challenges through the borderline area of Ukraine. The main goal of my project is to investigate current demographic situation in the southwestern regions of Ukraine and the political situation in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland, which are the members of the European Union as to discover the challenges which capable to impact negatively on the territorial integrity of Ukraine. I have deep belief that the structures as the National Security Service of Ukraine, State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will focus on the investigation elaborating the suggested research data from the practical perspective in future. My educational background stands on a Master’s Degree in Public Administration at the National Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine specialized in strategic planning and implementation of the national security policy. In 2015, I defended Master’s thesis on “Preventive diplomacy as an instrument of national security policy: public administration aspect”. As a student of the Academy, I did the internship in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine at the Department of Politics. I am sure that my academic and professional background is relevant for applying for Lane’s Kirkland Scholarship program. In this regard, I would like to specify that between 01/03 – 31/07 2016 I have been working as 4 / 5 the assistant of the member of German Bundestag – Dr. Franz-Josef Jung, former Minister of Defense of Germany in the framework of the International Parliamentary Program. I cooperated with the Foreign Advisor of the CDU/CSU group in the parliament and provided the analysis of the upcoming and ongoing political, economic and social situation in Ukraine in terms of the reforms implementation and security and defence issues. Besides, I was working in EPP Group of the European Parliament in the framework of the Stagiaire Program for Young Politicians in the period of 25/01 - 19/02 2016. I set up the cooperation between the European People's Party Group and the like-minded Christian democratic and conservative parties of Ukraine. During the internship, I established new relationships with parliamentarians and officials with the key European institutions, such as the European Parliament, the European Commission and with persons who were directly engaged for the integration process of Ukraine into the European Union. Hence, I have enough networking and practical experience to consider myself competent in strategic planning and the issues of security in the Eastern Neighborhood Countries. Since May 2014, I have been working as the International Secretary of All-Ukrainian Youth Public Organization where I have good knowledge of European and international politics. I am also familiar with public and international relations taking part in different exchange programs, aiming to provide relevant resolutions for Ukrainian national interests. Obviously, there is no doubt that the political stability and security of the country in some cases depend on the economic prosperity. From this perspective, I would like to examine the Polish experience which is capable to be the interesting “Shock therapy” for Ukraine and the Polish background history in regard of EU integration trying to preserve their national identity through the guaranteed mechanisms of national security. The implementation of my project has its short-time perspective, particularly in the advisory mission within the Department of International Security at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The long-term plan for the realization of the project will be based on the comprehensive proposals to the Concept of Development of the Sector of Security and Defence of Ukraine. My project has an academic character with the possibility to be practically implemented in Ukraine in the field of national security through the strengthening program of defending borders of Ukraine. Therefore, I would like to take a course of “International Relations: Europe from Visegrad Perspective” in the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. According to my collected data, the University has very good research opportunities that will help me to make a significant investigation in this field of studies. The second possible option for the course is the University of Warsaw with a possibility to study at the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies. 5 / 5 Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
