Stewardship 'ote: “If it does not please you to serve the
Lord, decide today whom you will serve. . . . As for me and my
household, we will serve the Lord.” When we commit to serve
the Lord, we must be willing to become a partner in the work of
the Lord. A partner is a person who invests their time, talent
and treasure. If we say we serve God, we must actually do
something and not merely talk about it!
TWE'TY-FIRST SU'DAY I' ORDI'ARY TIME
August 23, 2015
As for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.
- Joshua 24:15b
KEEPI'G OUR COMMITME'TS
In the musical Fiddler on the Roof, the husband, Tevye,
whose marriage was arranged years and years before, wants to
know if his wife really loves him. Was their marriage just an
arrangement, a deal? Did his wife, after all these years, ever
love him? Does she still?
We need to know if our loving commitment holds. We need
to be reminded and reaffirmed. In the first reading, Joshua,
Moses’ successor, needed to know if the people would remain
faithful to their covenant with the Lord. Joshua was going to
lead them to a new life—a settled life. Would they be faithful?
Jesus, who identified himself as the very life of his disciples’
life, needed to know: Will you also go away or will you stay.
What will we do?
The second collection this week is for the Mission Cooperative Appeal for the Diocese of Kumbakonam, India. For your
convenience envelopes are available in the pews.
1ext weekend’s second collection is an additional final collection during this fiscal year to supplement our delinquent
parish obligations to the Diocese. Our fiscal year ends on
August 31st. Please be generous.
SHARI'G OUR BLESSI'GS-August 16, 2015
GREETI'G FATHER EUGE'E KARU'AKARA'
This weekend we welcome Rev. Eugene Karunakaran from
the Diocese of Kumbakonam, India, to celebrate Mass and
speak to us about the missionary activities and challenges of
that Diocese. Since its inception in 1999, they are trying to
materialize their missionary goals including construction of
churches, schools, rectories and convents.
Every year, an average of 50 young men, like Fr. Eugene,
and women go out to other parts of the world to serve God and
His people as missionaries. The mission and spiritual prospects
of Kumbakonam diocese are bright but 60% of its Catholics are
depressingly poor.
Therefore, your prayers and generous help are earnestly requested for building the KINGDOM of God in this diocese.
A donation of $20 will provide food for a poor Christian
family for ten days or provide transportation and meals for a
catechist in a remote mission for a week.
Weekly $5273 (including $371 in loose money); Diocesan
Obligations $302.15; Fuel $265; Assumption of Mary $814
(including $63 in loose money);
Church in Central & Eastern Europe $513
Weekly Budget $7000
1-25 Club Winner for 21st week

DOZY'KI—HARVEST FESTIVAL
Deep gratitude and thanks to all who helped in celebrating
our Dozynki-Harvest Festival last Saturday. It took much time
and effort to prepare for this traditional celebration of thanksgiving—such as setting up, taking down, preparing food, etc.
This annual event would not have been possible without the
assistance of Peter and Kathy Sirard, Marta Pajak, Betty Sabaj,
Jolanta Podskarbi, Agnieszka Pianka, Theresa Parzych, Sylvia
Kitka, Marlene Proulx, Diane Gajewski, Theresa Wagner, Ken
Yash, Eugene Rudnicki, Lidia Nolle, Mieczyslaw Mietelskirepresenting the land owner and Orawa Bakery for providing
the special loaf of bread. We appreciate our parishioners extending a helping hand by providing a delectable assortment of
pastries.
Our altar servers led the procession into the Basilica with the
Harvest Wreath accompanied by children dressed in native costumes to celebrate the Mass of Thanksgiving.
After Mass our guests intermingled and enjoyed an evening
of good company and delicious food. Winner of the 50/50
drawing was Lorraine Brezniak. Bog Zaplac to all!
From this traditional ritual of the past we learn the spirit of
gratitude to God from the produce of the land to nourish our
families.
Attention - we have a limited amount of pierogi - $10 perdozen and gołombki 6– for $5 on sale after the 4:00pm Mass on
Saturday, Aug. 22 and the 9:00am Mass on Sunday Aug. 23.
'OVE'A A'D DEVOTIO' TO ST. JOSEPH
On Wednesday, August 26th at 7:00pm we invite our parishioners and friends to join us for our weekly Novena and Devotion to our Patron. Members of our Lectors Ministry will carry
the statue of St. Joseph from the Our Lady of Czestochowa
Chapel to the sanctuary. Please take advantage of this opportunity to ask for needed graces through the intercession of Saint
Joseph.
Please write your personal intentions legibly, on forms available and place them in the petition box to be read during the
Novena. Thank you for your offerings.
'ATIO'AL DAY OF ST. JOH' PAUL II
Save the date - On Saturday, October 17th,

Shrine. This date was determined by the Knights of Columbus,
Supreme Knight, Carl Anderson and the National Polish Apostolate Committee and their Chairman, Msgr. Czarnecki. People
from every state will arrive and pay tribute to this unique Pope
who was a gift to the Church and humanity.
The JPII Foundation of New England is sponsoring a 3-day

ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL 'EWS
Meet the Principal, Mr. Michael Hackenson - an assembly
was held last Tuesday, Aug., 18th with faculty, parents, students and parishioners. In his introductory remarks, he enthusiastically outlined his vision and priorities for SJS and his eagerness to begin a new academic year. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between the parents, administration and
teachers. This gathering provided the opportunity for our new
principal to get acquainted with parishioners and parents.
St. Joseph School - every year in the summer we address
several issues inside SJS such as painting corridors, refreshing
the classrooms and library. The new academic year begins on
Wednesday, September 2nd and the children will be returning
to an inviting bright and clean environment.
We are grateful to a number of parishioners who have extended a helping a hand, together with members of the Knights
of Columbus, to complete the check list of necessary chores.
Pope John Paul II once said, “to educate without the value
system, which is based on objective truth, is to abandon young
people”. As we tune in to public media and observe the life of
young people we are convinced that the Pope was correct. A
happy-well-educated-child in a Catholic school is a great treasure to his family, the parish and our town.
Mark your calendar - St. Joseph School 16th Annual Golf
Tournament to be held on Sat., Sept. 26th at the Dudley Hill
Golf Club. Tee off at 1:30pm with dinner immediately following golf at the PAV. Cost is $100 for golf, dinner and player
gift. If you are unable to play, Tee Sponsorships are available.
Registration and sponsorship forms available at entrances of
our Basilica. Our sports programs serve our amazing competing
students from Kindergarten to 8th grade.

KRO'IKA PARAFIAL'A
WIARYGOD'OŚĆ. W musical’u pt. “Skrzypek na dachu”
małżonek, Tevye, którego małżeństwo zostało zaaranżowane
wiele lat wcześniej, pyta żonę, czy ona go naprawdę kocha.
Czy żona go kiedykolwiek
Indiach. Ks. Misjonarz z Diecezji Kumbakonam podzieli się
swoim doświadczeniem, trudnościami i sukcesami misji w
ubogich dzielnicach Indii.
katechety do odległych dzielnic misij. Prosimy o ofiarność.
OSTAT'IA KOLEKTA 'A DIOCESA' OBLIGATIO'S
swoją cegiełkę do polepszenia sytuacji finansowej parafii.
Z góy dziękujemy za ofiarność.
DOŻY'KI. Serdecznie dziękuję wszystkim, którzy pomagali
w przygotowaniu obchodów Dożynek w ubiegły weekend.
Każde takie przedsiewzięcie wymaga przygotowania, obsługi
oraz posprzątania po dobrej zabawie. Tegoroczne wydarzenie
nie byłoby możliwe gdyby nie pomoc państwa Sirard, Marty
Pająk, Betty Sabaj, Joli Podskarbie, Agnieszki Pianki, Teresy
Parzych, Sylvi Kitka, Marlene Proulx, Diane Gajewski, Theresa
Wagner, Ken Yash, Eugeniusza Rudnickiego, Lidki Nolle i
Mieczysława Mietelskiego reprezentujących gospodarzy
Dożynek.
Dziękujemy państwu Madziar z Orawy za
przygotowanie i ofiarowanie tradycyjnego chleba. Dziękujemy
też wielu parafianom, którzy przygotowali smaczne desery.
Tradycyjny wieniec dożynkowy był uroczyście wniesiony w
procesji, w której uczestniczyły też dzieci w strojach ludowych.
Wieniec ten, symbol wdzięczności Bogu za dobre plony, został
poświęcony i umieszczony w sanktuarium. Po Mszy św.
wszyscy mile spędzali czas w dobrym towarzystwie.

WIADOMOŚCI ZE SZKOŁY
'owy Dyrektor. W ubiegły wtorek parafianie, rodzice ze
szkoły, nauczyciele i uczniowie mieli okazję poznania nowego
otwore I z przyjemnością posłucha nowych pomysłów.
Odnowa. W każde wakacje staramy się odświeżyć budynek
szkolny oraz wykonać wszelkie drobne i większe naprawy. W
woluntaryjnie pomagali w tych pracach.
CASH CALE'DARS.
Rozpoczęliśmy rozprowadzanie
wrześniowych kalendarzy. Za jedyne $10 otrzymuje się 30
okazji do wygrania dziennych nagród. Po każdym losowaniu,
