When they say the word also give them an action to do. 2. Review flashcards learners have practised at an earlier stage in the course/lesson. 3. Each time learners correctly identify the item on the flashcard, stick it on the board or a wall (picture showing to the class). Repeat until all the selected flashcards are on display. 4. Teacher: ‘When I point at the correct card shout STOP.’ 5. The teacher then repeats one of the vocabulary items e.g. ‘apple’, whilst moving their finger pointing at different flashcards. 6. When the teacher is pointing at the correct picture, learners shout ‘STOP’. If they are correct the teacher turns/sticks the picture face down. 7. The teacher continues pointing/repeating vocabulary until all the flashcards are facedown. 8. The activity then changes into a memory game. 9. The teacher either: repeats a vocabulary item and the learners shout ‘stop’ (as above) and the flashcard is revealed or the teacher asks, ‘What was this?’, if they guess correctly the card is revealed. You can use the activity in different ways for example, learners have their own mini sets of the flashcards and play the game in pairs. You can raise the challenge level by giving clues instead of just repeating the word e.g. this is a green animal, or this animal has claws etc. BritishCouncilPolska @plBritish BritishCouncilPL Poland Quality Teaching Blog http://blog.britishcouncil.org/polandqualityteaching http://www.britishcouncil.pl 1. Naucz lub przypomnij uczniom znaczenie słowa ‘stop’. Gdy wypowiedzą to słowo, poproś ich o wykonanie jakiejś czynności. 2. 9. Nauczyciel może albo: powtórzyć słowo a uczniowie krzyczą ‘STOP’ (tak jak powyżej) i karta jest odkrywana lub zapytać: ‘What was this?’ i jeśli odpowiedź jest poprawna, to karta jest odkrywana. To ćwiczenie może być wykorzystane również w innej formie. Uczniowie mają swoje własne ‘zestawy’ fiszek. Grają w ‘zatrzymaj, patrz i słuchaj’ w parach. Możesz zwiększyć trudność ćwiczenia, jeśli zamiast powtarzania słowa, będziesz podawać jakieś wskazówki dotyczące obrazka np. ‘this is a green animal’ or ‘this animal lives on a farm’ itd.
