Giger: „Marzenia i wizje” Kunsthaus Wiedeń, Hundertwasserhaus 10 marzec – 26 czerwiec 2011 Przy okazji publikowania kolejnego materiału o H.R. Gigera. Gigera „Marzenia i wizje”. Straciłam świadomość czasu i przestrzeni. To uczucie wyzwoliło we mnie najgłębsze emocje i zapadłam w głęboki świat sennych marzeń. To podróż w głąb duszy H.R. Gigera. Następnego dnia nadal tkwiłam w związanych z nią marzeniach, a przed oczyma ciągle przewijały mi się obrazy ubiegłej nocy. by Annie Bertram H.R. Giger: „Dreams and Visions“ Kunsthaus Wien, Hundertwasserhaus 10th of March – 26th of June 2011 As most readers of „Tatuaz”, I am quite familiar with the work of Swiss surrealist, H.R. Giger. In recent years I’ve had the pleasure photographing his artworks and the opportunity to pursue my own creative visual explorations within his environments, as well as the honor of shooting his portrait. Yet I never cease to be intrigued, fascinated and captivated by his art and person. At the onset of twilight I made my way to the Kunsthaus in Vienna for the opening night of H.R. Giger’s „Dreams and Visions” retrospective. Large banners and posters have been visible around the city for many weeks heralding the coming of the show and everyone’s anticipation was quite high. Following the crowd of invited guests, I hurried excitedly up the flights of stairs to the exhibition space. The lights in the rooms were dimmed and the audience submerged in exquisite shadow-play. The artworks of H.R. Giger were perfectly lit, beckoning the viewers to dive into the artist’s visionary world of dreams. Nothing at the crowded vernissage could draw my attention away from the art. I lost all awareness of time and space. This sensation activates my deepest emotions and I surrendered myself to the lucid dream world. The exhibition explores in comprehensive detail all the various key working periods of the artist, including many never before shown pieces. Women have always played an important role in Giger’s life and it is so reflected here. A few steps away are the painting portraits of Debbie Harry, followed by the meticulously detailed design evolution of Sil, the femme fatale of the film, „Species”. And, yes, the Alien. Most prominently displayed in its most recent incarnation, reclaimed in the unmistakably feminine lithe form and sensuous lips of Necronom 2005. Further along the Birth Machine ponders the age-old ambiguity of womb or weapon. My spirits were lifted by the inherent message of hope in the perfectly installed Guardian Angels, which projected their haunting and protective shadows on the walls. All the background information one could want on H.R.Giger can be found displayed on the walls. A visitor can sense how much love and work was invested in mounting this presentation. It is much more than a mere exhibition; it is a trip into the soul of H.R. Giger. As I left I was deeply impressed. The next day I was still trapped in daydreams and the images of the night before were still in my mind. © Annie Bertram 110 H.R. Giger: „Träume und Visionen” Kunsthaus Wien, Hundertwasserhaus 10 März – 26 Juni 2011 Wie die meisten Leser des „Tatuaz” sind mir die Arbeiten des Schweizer Surrealisten H.R. Giger bestens bekannt.
