Podczas zajęć studenci pracują w konkretnych środowiskach graficznych, wykonując ćwiczenia łączące kompetencje kreatywne z umiejętnościami praktycznymi, niezbędnymi do pracy na rynku GD (manipulacja gotowymi modelami graficznymi, wprowadzenie zmian wynikających ze scenariusza gry do środowiska gry, rozwiązywanie podstawowych problemów technicznych wynikających z ograniczeń technicznych świata gry, etc). The course aims to teach students about the basic development tools used in Game Development and to develop necessary skills to use these tools. Thus, the course is the most practical extension of a number of other game development modules, in particular of Level Design. Computer lab based classes are held throughout four semesters; each focuses in discrete areas of game engines expertise, yet all are supposed to develop holistic game design and level design skills through project-oriented work. During the classes students work in the selected graphical and development environments and complete assignments that reinforce their technical and creative skills. These tasks include: manipulation of graphical objects in games engines, modifying level elements and assets in a level to reflect narrative and gameplay design choices, coping with basic technical problems in game engines, etc.). The course is not strictly technical (on an engineering level) – its purpose is to familiarize students with technical aspects of game development and develop their group work skills. B.A. seminars are an integral part of B.A. programmes. The central objective of each B.A. seminar is to guide the student toward his or her B.A. dissertation documenting his or her own research and argumentative skills. The seminar is designed to aid the student in his or her efforts to develop skills in the area of independent research work. Equipped with proper intellectual tools, in the course of the seminar the student learns to professionally address problems of their interest within the limits of the expertise demarcated by the syllabi of all courses within the B.A. program. As a result, the student gains the capability to efficiently employ both his or her overall academic knowledge and his or her skills in using English for academic writing toward the production of a dissertation meeting globally accepted standards of academic writing and sound in terms of the methodology of academic research. Kurs, obok syntetycznej wiedzy z zakresu historii sztuki, ma dawać kompetencje polegające na zrozumieniu filozofii rządzącej procesami artystycznymi i zjawiskami, które im towarzyszą i je wygenerowały, wyposażać w umiejętność rozpoznania stylistycznego, ale także wartości estetycznej dzieła, wykształcać umiejętność twórczego wykorzystania tej wiedzy we własnej dyscyplinie zawodowej. chosen from the extensive imagescapes that the course encompass are the phenomena of the highest artistic value and the most typical ones which offer the most exhaustive insight into the epoch's artistic idiom. The lectures are composed of several parts. They include a short summary of the period's chronology, its characteristic features, and an overview of attitudes and tendencies prevalent in it. Furthermore, they focus on a multifaceted analysis of particular instances, which, in accordance with the programme's requirements, covers the problem of space in both its objective dimension and the context of the era in which a given work was created. What is examined are also such components of a piece of art as follows: its form, content, and their mutual relations, the impact of historical and cultural processes on the final shape of the work, individual expression, environmental determinants, and the piece's influence on the contemporary visual culture. The course, aside from providing students with the fundamentals of art history, serves several functions: it prepares them to understand the underlying principles behind artistic processes and their causative or accompanying phenomena; it equips them with the ability to recognise the stylistic and artistic value of a given work of art; finally, it allows them to make creative use of the acquired knowledge in their own field of study. The lectures resemble these on the history of art in terms of organisation; they include a general overview of the history of a given style, a consideration of the most representative examples, and an in-depth analysis of chosen works. The topics of individual lectures focus on chronologically arranged periods and relevant issues in the history of architecture. The module offers a comprehensive, interdisciplinary perspective on the most recent intellectual trends in contemporary humanities and social sciences. The basic aim of the module is to provide the students with knowledge and abilities allowing them for a philological discussion and assessment of a wide range of academic discourses, including aspects of philosophy, sociology and political sciences. The subject's scope directed towards general humanities is also an opportunity to reflect upon the position and meaning of philology within the system of sciences and upon its connections with other branches of humanities.
