Information about GOSPEL RAIN 2014
Gospel Rain is a group of 40 talented artists which combines a charismatic pop-gospel
choir with excellent soloists and instrumentalists. The band is characterised by its remarkable
spontaneity and energy during the concerts, which is manifested in an authentic, living contact with
the audience.
Gospel Rain is one of the oldest gospel bands in Poland. The group first gathered in Lublin in
August 1991, directly after the World Youth Day in Częstochowa, a meeting attended by John Paul
II. The founder and the leader of the band is Grzegorz Głuch - a composer, songwriter, arranger,
singer and worship leader.
The group draws inspiration from numerous sources. The band’s music is a fresh and energetic
fusion of gospel, praise&worship, soul, elements of hip-hop and guitar sounds. Our characteristic
sound is based on a modern arrangement of the choir, dynamic interactions between the
instrumentalists and a stylistic diversity of songs.
In 2002 Gospel Rain became the representatives of Poland during the World Youth Day in
Toronto. The group took part in many TV and radio concerts, including a performance for Raj
programme in 2003 (TVP1), Pokolenie JPII - Strefa błogosławieństw in 2007 (TVP Lublin), Podziel
się radością in 2007 (TVP2) and performed for TVP, TVN and Radio Lublin. Gospel Rain
participated in the most important music festivals (Gospel Camp Meeting, Song of Songs, StróŜe
Poranka) and hundreds of concerts in Poland and abroad.
In 2005 we had the privilege of conducting prayer meetings for fifty thousand people gathered in
Lublin during the memorable days of John Paul II’s passing away. Moreover, Gospel Rain
animated worship meetings conducted by Father John Bashobora (Uganda), Father Tom
DiLorenzo (Boston, USA), Maria Vadia (California, USA) and Amy Lingamfelter (Kansas City,
USA). The group organised and hosted dozens of workshops across Poland.
Gospel Rain became known to a wider audience through a television Christmas concert,
recorded together with Golec uOrkiestra in December 2013 in Jasna Góra, Częstochowa.
This magnificent concert was broadcast on Christmas Eve by TV POLSAT and was watched by 4
million people. The Christmas carols, enriched with Grzegorz Głuch’s choir arrangements, will
soon be released and available on CD/DVD in 2014. The huge success of the project has
contributed to further cooperation between the two bands.
The group is a co-founder and a host of large, open-air Concerts of Glory in Lublin (2003-2014),
taking place annually on the evening of Corpus Christi and gathering several thousand people. The
Concert of Glory in Lublin is one of the largest Christian events in Poland.
GOSPEL RAIN is a phenomenal live band, known for its own projects and cooperation with
distinguished musicians. The tremendous energy and passion of both choir and instrumentalists,
combined with a powerful message, is what makes Gospel Rain one of a kind.
The group had the opportunity to work with many outstanding musicians, including: Golec
uOrkiestra, Mieczysław Szcześniak, Andrzej Lampert, Piotr Cugowski, Monika Kuszyńska, Olga
Szomańska, Patrzycja Gola, Beata Bednarz, Mateusz Pospieszalski, Natalia Niemen, Mate.o,
Adam Krylik, rappers Kolah and Full Power Spirit, Piotr Nazaruk, Romuald Lipko, Paweł Zarecki,
Ewa Uryga, Marek Raduli, Krzysztof Zalewski, Paweł Bębenek and many more.
Gospel Rain toured alongside the biggest stars of Polish music and recorded the choir parts for a
few of Maryla Rodowicz’s songs (including Dalej Orły, recorded for Euro 2012) and Leć muzyczko,
a song written on the occasion of the canonization of John Paul II and performed together with
Golec uOrkiestra, Anna Wyszkoni, Piotr Cugowski, Kuba Badach, Ryszard Rynkowski and others.
Gospel Rain can also be heard in Romuald Lipko’s songs, performed among others by Irena
Santor and Felicjan Andrzejczak.
Gospel Rain took part in a great television concert (TV Polsat) which was held in April 2014 at
Piłsudzki Square in Warsaw. The concert was organised to celebrate the canonization of Pope
John Paul II and gave us the opportunity to perform with Kasia Kowalska, Urszula, Jorgas Skolias,
Wojciech Waglewski, Mateusz Pospieszalski, Raz Dwa Trzy, Pectus, T.Love and Zakopower.
Later the same year, in an extraordinary concert Śpiew Murów ’44, which was held on the
occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, we had the honour to sing alongside
Adam Nowak, Kinga Preis, Janusz Radek, Natalia Niemen, Stanisława Celińska, Mateusz
Pospieszalski and many other.
Gospel Rain released three albums, including a live CD/DVD album N, which was quickly
appreciated by the listeners as one of the most interesting gospel albums in Poland. It contains a
number of new songs of glory, all recorded live with extraordinary passion and energy. The band’s
discography also includes two studio albums: Ten, Kto przychodzi (2000) and Startooj (2006).
Startooj album was promoted by the title song and recorded together with Olga Szomańska and
FPS.
In addition, the group’s activity resulted in numerous performances and recordings of Christmas
carols (as a part of Emmanuel. Pieśni o Narodzeniu project), songs performed during the Lenten
tour Wykupieni and an impressive amount of our own arrangements for well-known songs and
hymns.
Gospel Rain is currently preparing a new live album which will be released in 2015.
