October 25, 2015 Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time Memories of the Future The Future is as Bright as the Promises of God St. John Brebeuf Parish 8307 N. Harlem Ave., Niles, IL 60714 847-966-8145 www.sjbrebeuf.org Page 1 Page 2 Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 25, 2015 Dear Parishioners, We celebrate the Feast of All Saints and All Souls, next Sunday and Monday, November 1 and November 2. On The Feast of All Saints, we remember the women and men who lived exemplary lives of faith and sacrifice. Through the grace of God some gave their lives, like our patron St. John Brebeuf, one of the North American Martyrs. Many millions more, although not officially recognized by the church were saints in their own right. Our relatives and friends, co-workers and neighbors, who despite their faults and weaknesses, (as Pope Francis pointed out when addressing the U.S. Congress) strive each day to do the right thing. They do an honest day's work to bring home their daily bread, to save money and—one step at a time—to build a better life for their families.” Yes, those simple daily tasks build up the Body of Christ, the Church. Never feel your life does not matter; your kind words and good deeds are saintly! They lead others to a deeper conversion. Thank you for your witness! On Sunday evening, November 1st, at the 6 p.m. Mass, we will pray for All the Souls of the Faithful Departed. In a special way, we will remember all those who died from our parish over the past year. Please be sure to attend this special mass of remembrance. Monday, November 2, our All Soul's Masses will continue with Mass at 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mass in the Polish Language. All through the month of November we continue to pray for all the deceased. Eternal Rest Grant unto them O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace. Father Mike Meany ATTENTION ALL EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS & MINISTERS OF CARE Our fall formation meeting will be held on Thursday, November 12th 2015 in the Ministry Center at 7pm. We will be hosting Deacon Bob Puhala from the University of St. Mary of the Lake who will provide us with an interactive and dynamic presentation. Light refreshments will be provided. The evening will close with Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament in the church around 8:30pm. It is an expectation that all ministers attend at least (1) formation meeting per calendar year (either spring or fall) in order to continue in ministry. Please plan accordingly. PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION Christ's followers were skeptical when He preached the reality of His Body and Blood as food and drink. St. John said, "many of His disciples withdrew and no longer went about with Him." Seeing this, Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do you also want to leave me?" Simon Peter did not understand any more than those who left Christ, but his loyalty was more firm. "Lord," he said, "to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." We have the "Word of Eternal Life" right here with us day and night in our Adoration Chapel. Do you have something you want to ask Him? There are several hours needing adorers. Please pick one for your personal hour with Him. W uroczystość Wszystkich Świętych wspominamy wszystkie kobiety i mężczyzn, którzy prowadzili przykładne życie wiary i poświęcenia. Prowadzą innych do głębszego nawrócenia. Wieczny odpoczynek racz im dać Panie, a światłość wiekuista niechaj im świeci.
