PR [email protected] Press Release April 24th, 2006 Want to undergo training abroad at a PR agency? One clever idea and one creative strategy was enough to take part in the PRactice abroad competition! Over 80 students from all over Poland have taken the chance. Fifteen authors of best entries have qualified for the 2nd stage of the contest. The first stage of public relations competition ”PRactice abroad” is over! It began early in February and attracted a record high number of applicants. At this stage students were to design a 3-page project of communication strategy regarding one of two issues connected with Amnesty International. The jury assessed 86 projects of strategy for Amnesty International, four times as many as in the second edition of the contest! It indicates that the public relations issue, as well as the opportunity of undergoing a training abroad is getting more and more popular with students. Applicants study various fields of public relations and social communication and come from different corners of Poland. Majority of applications were submitted by representatives of the following universities: the University of Warsaw– 21, the Jagiellonian University– 8, the Academy of Economics in Poznań – 6, Adam Mickiewicz University – 6. The jury, having familiarized themselves with the applications, selected 15 people who thereby got through to the 2nd stage of the competition. Their strategies have been given the highest marks. The authors of the best projects are: Adam Hołubek, Agnieszka Mężyńska, Alina Maciejska, Anna Kadzikiewicz, Anna Sosnowska, Barbara Hernas, Dorota Grądzka, Jacek Lipski, Joanna Piskunowicz, Krzysztof Waligórski, Łukasz Piekarz, Maciej Makuszewski, Magdalena Jadziewicz, Piotr Piotrowski, Tomasz Woźniak. “We were surprised with the number of applications submitted to the competition. Some of them included really creative ideas and outlines of interesting communication strategies. We are going to draw on many of these ideas– Mirella Panek, spokesperson for Amnesty International comments on this year’s competition projects. – It was interesting to see how students perceive Amnesty International and what the image of the organization in their circles is. We are looking forward to seeing the projects of the second stage participants”. In the second stage of the contest the 15 contestants will map out comprehensive communications strategies. 6 finalists will be invited to present their projects in front of the jury panel. The „PRactice abroad” competition is due to end in June 2006. 1 The third edition of public relations competition “PRactise abroad”, organized by the Institute of Media Monitoring, has been pending since February 6th. The contestants are the students interested in public relations activities and social campaigns. Authors of the best three projects will be offered trainings in European branches of Fleishman-Hillard public agency (London, Dublin, Brussels). Centralwings airways cover the cost of flight to the places of destination and IMM provides the money prize. Their projects are assessed by the jury composed of: Piotr Czarnowski, president of First PR agency, Gerald Abramczyk, expert in strategic communication, Jacek Warchala PhD of Silesian University, Mirella Panek, a spokesperson for Amnesty International and Anna Sanowska, PR Director at the Institute of Media Monitoring.
