Mother, Karen THIS SUNDAY: The Relic of St. John Paul II While the feast day for St John Paul II is October 22, we will celebrate his life and his sainthood this Sunday at the 11:00 a.m. Polish Mass with prayers and special songs. The relic of St. John Paul II which was received in our church in August will be formally presented. The relic, enclosed in a glass case with the inscription, Ex sanguine Sancti Joannis Pauli II Papae, contains a piece of fabric stained with the blood of St. John Paul II. It is displayed in a beautiful reliquary which was purchased in Poland. Friday, Piątek, October 24 7:30 a.m. Presider’s intention Next Sunday there will be a special program at the 11:00 a.m. Polish Mass in honor of Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko. With the recent news of miracles attributed to the intercession of Fr. Popiełuszko, the process is now underway for his canonization to sainthood. All MASSES are in English except the 11:00 Sunday mass which is in Polish. CONFESSIONS are heard in English every Saturday before the Vigil Mass, from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m. and in Polish every Sunday before the Polish mass. We donated approximately $380 worth of food which helped 856 families. Our $80 worth of school supplies helped 197 children. September marked the end of our year-long Share Your Blessings partnership with Brookside. As we wrap up the year, we will be presenting a summary of our activities and a look at our plans for the year to come. Thank you for generously Sharing Your Blessings with others! THE COUNT IS IN … We counted the people present at all of the masses for the weekends of October 5 and 12 to get an average. Our average weekend total attendance was 168. This was a little higher than last year’s average of 160. Our current number of registered households is 179 (292 individually registered parishioners.) This is a good time to remind anyone who has not registered to please do so. There are forms available on the table at the side entrance (parking lot entrance) or ask one of the ushers for a copy. Trusting fully in your infinite mercy and in the maternal intercession of Mary, he has given us a living image of Jesus the Good Shepherd. He has shown us that holiness is the necessary measure of ordinary Christian life and is the way of achieving eternal communion with you.
