The Aim of the Subject:
To develop the knowledge and awareness of ergonomics and creative approaches working on a
particular interior with a specific function and ambience. To develop a design with strong
conceptual basis and attention to visual and functional aspects of the site (building etc.).
To further students’ spatial awareness and the influence a space can have on its users.
The Scope of the Subject:
To design an interior with a commercial function (customer services). Projects include suggested
furniture/ appliance arrangements and/or students’ own design furniture schemes. Emphasis is
placed upon the delivery of more in-depth and innovative suggestions
Subject:
6-a an interior design project of an apartment/flat with an office space.
6-b an interior design project of a larger office space with extra living quarters (a flat)
Delivery:
Individual tutorials requirements: plans, sections, perspective drawings, colour schemes and
suggested illumination.

Introduction to the rules of exhibition design.
The Scope of the Subject:
Larger exhibitions as well as exhibition stands. The role of lighting, colour and graphics in
exhibition design. Structural solutions depending on the size of the displayed objects.

To design an exhibition (gallery or an exhibition stand) within the given context and environment.

The Aim of the Subject:
To develop more in depth knowledge of illumination. To develop an understanding of the rules and
ways of creating unique ambience in a space, with consideration of the viewer’s visual comfort and
safety.
The Scope of the Subject:
To teach students to be able to read photometric curves and use various illumination catalogues
and resources. To develop students’ understanding of luminance depending on the quality of
spaces. To focus on proper ways of illumination which considers various urban and architectural
factors.

To design illumination of an interior in a communal space.

The Aim of the Subject:
Acquiring working knowledge of the basic analysis and prototype topology and form-finding of
statically indeterminate structures irrespective of scale, material, and function. Developing of
structural intuition
The Scope of the Subject:
Statically indeterminate structures as safe, redundant-rigidity structures, not adaptable to the
environment. Single-span beams. Continuous multi-span beams. Frames. Models of supports,
joints and loadings. Basic types of materials: wood, masonry, concrete, metals. Schematic models
of real structures. Basic analysis for preliminary optimal synthesis of continuous, trussed and
composite structures. Shape and cross-section optimization. Lightweight structures.
