SG162D Safety group with pressure reducing valve for pressurised hot water storage units up to 200 litres Product specification sheet Application Safety groups of this type are controls to DIN 4753 Part 1 and DIN 1988 for the protection of pressurised hot water storage units with capacities up to 200 litres. They are composite assemblies which integrate in one unit all necessary safety components, including check valve, shutoff valve, test point and diaphragm-type safety valve. 6. The safety valve protects the downstream cylinder, pressure vessel etc. by automatically opening when excess pressure occurs. The check valve prevents back pressure, backflow and back syphonage of water from the hot water unit. In addition, a balanced-seat pressure reducing valve is fitted on the inlet and this reduces the pressure from the inlet supply to the pressure required for the system. It also prevents uncontrolled dripping from the safety valve when the inlet pressure fluctuates. EN0H-1305GE23 R0610 • Subject to change Special Features • Check valve is DVGW approved • Safety valve is TÜV approved • Easy venting • Can be fitted on the left or right • Pressure reducing valve with inlet pressure balancing - inlet pressure fluctuation does not influence the outlet pressure Construction • Housing and connection pipes are chrome plated The safety group comprises: • Meets KTW recommendations for potable water • Housing • • Shutoff valve Certified to Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC, Reference No. CE 0035 • Check valve with test plug • Approved safety valve • Tundish and trim plate • Chrome-plated connection pipes • Pressure reducing valve Materials • Chrome-plated hot-pressed brass housing • High-quality synthetic material check valves • High quality synthetic material test plug • Chrome-plated hot-pressed brass safety valve housing • High quality white synthetic material tundish and trim plate • Chrome-plated brass connection pipework • Chrome plated brass pressure reducing valve housing Range of Application For closed hot water storage units up to 200 litres according to DIN 4753 Part 1 and DIN 1988. Tested to TRD 721 for 1.0 to 10.0 bar pressure range. Water from the inlet water supply first enters the pressure reducing valve. This functions on a force equalising system - the force of a moving piston operates against the force of an adjustment spring. The inlet pressure has no influence on the opening or closing of the valve. Inlet pressure fluctuations therefore have no influence on the outlet pressure. The check valve has a moving valve disc and flow pushes this open against the force of a spring. The downstream safety valve is a direct operating safety valve - the opening force operates against the force of a spring. The downstream safety valve is a direct operating safety valve. That is, the opening force operates against the force of a spring. The pressure reducing valve is necessary: • If the inlet pressure is greater than 80% of the safety valve set opening pressure The following are some typical applications: • Closed hot water storage units • Reverse calorifiers It is important that no attempt be made seal off the pipework to stop this discharge! Maintenance In accordance with DIN 1988, Part 8, the following operations should be carried out regularly. A planned maintenance scheme is recommended. Operation EN0H-1305GE23 R0610 • Subject to change Inspection Maintenance Interval Carried out by Pressure reducing valve: Visual inspection on pressure gauge of the set Annually outlet pressure at zero flow and at peak flow (large take off). User or specialist Check valve: Check operation by opening the test point and closing the Annually lower shutoff valve. User Safety valve: Check operation as follows: With the system operating, Every six months open the venting device. The resulting water flow must fully drain away. When the ventil is released, the valve must fully close. User or specialist Pressure reducing valve: If no stable outlet pressure can be established Every 1 to 3 years depending on at zero flow during the visual inspection, the pressure reducing valve insert should be removed for checking and if necessary be replaced. system operating conditions Specialist Safety valve: If a malfunction occurs, this may be cured by repeated manual opening and closing of the valve. If this method does not succeed, then an overhaul of the valve will be necessary.
