Priscilla. Weddings are not scheduled on Sunday.
BAPTISMS:
English Baptisms will be held on the second and fourth Sundays of the month at 1:30 PM. Polish Baptisms will be held on the first and third
Sundays. Attendance at Baptismal Preparation class is mandatory. Register by calling Rectory.

Drodzy Bracia i Siostry w Chrystusie:
Bywa, że czasie przedłużającej się kampanii wyborczej, sprawy polityki społecznej, które są też
problemami moralnymi, często ujmuje się niewłaściwie, lub przedstawia połowicznie, albo w celu manipulacji.
Wydaje się, że wszystkim powinna być wiadoma pozycja kościoła na temat niemoralności aborcji oraz roli, jaką
odgrywa prawo w ochronie dzieci nienarodzonych, a jednak są tacy, którzy twierdzą, iż jej nie znają, albo i tacy,
którzy nawet w obrębie samego kościoła, ją kwestionują. Ponieważ ostatnio nauczanie na ten temat przedstawiano w fałszywym świetle, poniższe wyjaśnienia mogą być przydatne.
Kościół katolicki od samego początku potępiał usuwanie nienarodzonych dzieci, uznając to za moralnie
naganne. Nie tylko nauka Pisma Św. dotycząca bożej obrony życia poczętego w łonie (zob. księgi prorockie,
psalmy oraz biblijne przypowieści na temat Jana Chrzciciela oraz samego Jezusa w łonie Maryji), ale również
katechizm z pierwszego wieku (Didache, czyli Nauka dwunastu apostołów) głosiły: “Nie zabijaj dzieci przez
poronienie. Nie zabijej tego co już poczęte”. Nauka kościoła była jasno określona nawet w Cesarstwie
Rzymskim, które dopuszczało dokonywanie aborcji. To samo stanowisko konsekwentnie powtarzano zawsze i
wszędzie, aż do II Soboru Watykańskiego, który to potępił aborcję, nazywając ją “ohydną zbrodnią”.
Obowiązuje ono zarówno dzisiaj, jak i jutro. Wszelkie inne komentarze, głoszone przez polityków, profesorów,
uczonych, a czasem i przez księży są błędne i nie można uważać, że czyni się je w dobrej wierze.
To nauczanie nie pozostaje bez konsekwencji dla osób, od których zależy wspólne dobro i którzy
zajmują publiczne stanowiska. Nie narodzone dziecko, które żyje i jest członkiem rodziny ludzkiej, nie może
bronić się samo. Dobre prawo strzeże bezbronnych. Obecnie obowiązujące prawo pozwala na prywatne
zabijanie nienarodzonych dzieci. Przepisy, które pozbawiają nienarodzone dzieci ochrony prawnej niszczą
zarówno uśmiercone dzieci, jak i nasze wspólne dobro, co stanowi narzędną zasadę katolickiego nauczania
społecznego. Nie można popierać ustalonego stanu prawnego w stosunku do aborcji i jednocześnie pracować na
rzecz wspólnego dobra.
Tłumaczy to dlaczego kwestia aborcji nie przeminie i dlaczego jest ona zasadnicza w nauce kościoła na
temat sprawiedliwego porządku społecznego. Kościół nie opowiada się za wyborem konkretnego kandydata na
dane stanowisko, lecz głosi zasady, według których katolicy powinni kształtować swoje sumienie społeczne.
Nauczanie o zjawiskach rzeczywiście złych, jakim jest aborcja oraz innych kwestiach, które podlegają ocenie
zdrowego rozsądku jest bardzo jasne, natomiast w praktyce rzeczy wyglądają inaczej, dlatego, że wszyscy
jesteśmy grzeszni. W katolickim nauczaniu moralnym nie ma miejsca na zapatrzenie w siebie.
Konferencja episkopatu naszego kraju oraz biskupów ze stanu Illinois wystosowały oświadczenia na
temat katolickiego nauczania społecznego oraz życia politycznego. Są one dostępne w parafiach. Wszyscy
powinniśmy pamiętać o naszym kraju i kandydatach na stanowiska publiczne w nadchodzących wyborach w
naszych modlitwach. Niech Bóg błogosławi Was i Wasze rodziny.

On Tuesday, October 7, there will be a meeting for
all Confirmation students and their parents. The
meeting will begin promptly at 7:00 PM and it will be
held in the school gym. Every child who is to receive
the Sacrament of Confirmation and at least one of
their parents MUST attend this meeting.
This is a very important meeting. Every child will be
given a packet of information about what is expected
of them before they can receive the sacrament of
Confirmation.

Spiritual Reflection
Who is my God? Who is in charge
of my life? As we reflect upon LIFE
this weekend, we are continually
confronted by these questions. As we
consider things like artificial contraception, living together
before marriage, abortion and even cloning and fetal stem
cell research, the same two questions come forth. One of
the key problems of our day is the myth that we can be
God.
As Pope Paul VI writes at the beginning of the
encyclical Humanae Vitae, “But the most remarkable
development of all is to be seen in man’s stupendous
progress in the domination and rational organization of the
forces of nature to the point that he is endeavoring to
extend this control over every aspect of his own life—over
his body, over his mind and emotions, over his social life,
and even over the laws that regulate the transmission of
life” (HV, #2). The name of the encyclical means “Of
Human Life.” Human life came from God, belongs to God,
and returns to God. We can see then, that the argument
“This is my body, my life, my choice” is a faulty one at best.
In today’s Gospel, we see what happens when
greedy tenants want to take what is not theirs. They are
even willing to take human life in order for them to get
what they want. Because of that, our Gospel says,
“Therefore, I say to you, the kingdom of God will be taken
away from you and given to a people that will produce its
fruit.”
There is so much for us to learn about the Church’s
teaching regarding sexuality. Not many of us understand the
reasons behind it. We can be proud of a Church that will
never stand by as governments try to take away our right to
have children. We can be proud of a Church that is
skeptical when technology tries to take over and demean the
value of life. We can be proud to be part of a Church that
will not condone the taking of an innocent life for the
purpose of research.
Let’s be responsible to the Lord! We can revisit
many things. We can come to see that using the natural
rhythms of the human body, when there is a good reason to
do so, can also dramatically improve our marriage. The
divorce rate is zero for couples who use it. Many of us don’t
understand that it is just as effective as artificial means. We
can come to see the danger of making ourselves God and
the great benefit of beginning a life together God’s way, not
ours. We can reaffirm our commitment to respect and
defend life in all of its forms and stages. Abortion is wrong.
Research that takes human life is wrong. Attempts to make
ourselves God by creating human life are wrong.
This week we can pray for courage. We’ll need all
we can muster to defend the lives God created.
