Thestudyentitled.:"Biometricdatausedinlarge-scaleITsystemsintheareaofEuropeanUnionborders,visas
andasylum-implicationsforthefundamentalrights",wasimplementedinseveralcountriesandonseveral
continents.ItappliedtocrossthebordersoftheEuropeanUnionfromthepointofviewofbiometricdatacollected
inlarge-scalesystemsoftheEUandtheirimpactonfundamentalrights.Theaimofthestudywastoexamine
howvarioustypesofdatabasecontributetothedifficultiesintheenforcementoftheserightsbypeopletraveling
totheEuropeanUnion.
IparticipatedintheworkofPolishandUkrainianteams.Ididin-depthinterviewswithdifferentgroupsof
beneficiaries:theexperts(inthiscase,lawyers),theso-calledrightsholders-thepersonswhosefundamental
rightshavebeenviolatedsomehow.IalsowasamemberoftheteamwhichworkedoutsideofWarsaw:making
theobservationofbordercrossingsinTerespolandMedyka,wherealsoIwasmakingin-depthinterviewwiththe
rightsholders,includingpeoplelivinginrefugeecenters.IntheUkrainianpartoftheproject,surveycovered
selectedconsularpointsandvisacenters.Besidestoresearchandnotesfromtrips,Iwasresponsibleforthe
translationofpartofthetoolintoUkrainian.

associationsoperatingthere.InAugust2016Iorganizedadebriefingmeeting,whereforwardingpeople,
membersofthePolishassociations,coulddiscussabouttheresultsofresearch.Itwasanelementof
participationinthestudy,whichafterthepublicationofthedissertationcertainlywillbeimpactoninterviewees.To
thepresent,thereisnosimilarstudiesonthePolishminoritylivinginthroughoutthecountry.Thereisjustseveral
regional,likeforBukovina,Lviv,PodoliaorKievregion.Sofar,therewasnocomprehensivestudies.
