AUTHORITY FROM GOD
According to Moses, the people decided
they didn’t want to hear God’s voice directly
any more. It was much too frightening. Why
couldn’t God send human teachers, prophets,
instead? God agreed, but with a warning. The
people had better listen to those teachers,
because they spoke in God’s name.
That arrangement, though, had its own
problems, for them and for us. How do I know
this teacher is truly from God? And if the
teacher is from God, are all parts of the teaching
meant for me? We have the Church and
scripture to help us with those questions, but
still there are always a few loose ends.
That is the powerful significance of the
sentence in today’s Gospel: “The people were
astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as
one having authority and not as the scribes.”
The people knew that this Jesus was authentic truly a teacher sent by God.
They knew it by hearing him.

World Day for Consecrated Life.
February 1. 2015
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Pope Francis has declared 2015 as the Year of
Consecrated Life in the Universal Church. We
give thanks and honor the women and men in
consecrated life who have served and are
serving here in our great Diocese of Rockville
Centre.
The life of this local Church has been blessed
through the mission and ministry of these
dedicated women and men who are responding
to God’s call to each of them to follow Jesus as
vowed religious.
As religious, their
commitment to a life of prayer, lived in
community and expressed through their
ministry in the Church, witnesses to their
response to God’s love for them. Their vowed
commitment to God and service to the Church
is a gift for all of us.
As we move through this Year of Consecrated
Life, I invite each of you to take whatever
opportunities are presented to say “thanks” to
the religious who are here in our Diocese, to
remember them in your prayers and to pray
that other generous young people respond to
God’s call to join them as religious sisters,
brothers and priests.
I join my prayers with yours in thanksgiving
for their lives of prayer and service and in
petition that God will bless each of the religious
who are part of our Diocese with gifts of grace,
hope and peace as they witness to God’s great
love. I ask Mary, Mother of the Church, to
continue to inspire each of them as they live a
life of “Yes” to God’s call.
Faithfully yours in Christ,
Most Rev. William Murphy
Bishop of Rockville Centre

Duch Zamieszania.
rzadko
słyszymy
o
wypadkach
egzorcyzmów, to jednak ludzi spętanych złem
i demoniczną władzą nad sercem jest coraz
więcej. Oficjalne dane mówią, że populacja
Unii Europejskiej jest w 30 proc. psychicznie
zdeformowana.
Psychiczna
choroba
lub
deformacja nie musi być opętaniem, ale ile
zniewoleń grzechem jest odpowiedzialnych za
nasze deformacje osobowościowe? Zapewne
większość!
Grzech
jest
chorobotwórczy.
Przyczyną ingerencji demonicznych są prawie
zawsze grzechy ludzkie. Zdarza się, że jest nią
dopust Boży. Bóg dopuszcza atak złego ducha
na człowieka, aby wyćwiczyć go w pokorze,
cierpliwości i umartwieniu, albo po to, by
nawrócić środowisko. To znamienne, że
Marek, zaraz po powołaniu pierwszych
uczniów, opisuje egzorcyzm Jezusa spełniony
na opętanym, który dotychczas ukrywał się w
pobożnym środowisku, zapewne modląc się
gorliwie jak reszta uczestników nabożeństw.
To jest właśnie charakterystyczne, że demon
znosi granice, miesza świętość z tym, co
najohydniejsze, nie wzbrania się przed
świętokradztwem
i
bluźnierstwem.
Ten
człowiek był religijny, ale zbuntowany, modlił
się, ale był nieposłuszny woli Boga. Ukrywała
się w nim potworna sprzeczność. Ekstremalne
zachowania emocjonalne, krzyk albo mroczne
milczenie przyciągające uwagę, oskarżenie
Boga o zamiar unieszczęśliwienia człowieka i
jednoczesne wyznawanie w Jezusie bóstwa.
Duch nieczysty, zapewne nie tylko przez to
nieczysty, że duchowość tego człowieka
została zmieszana, ale być może miało to
związek z jego nieczystością seksualną.
Kłopoty z seksualnością biorą się nierzadko ze
środowiska rodzinnego, w którym wymagania
intelektualne, tyrania ambicji, kult pieniądza
lub kariery albo rozbicie związku małżeńskiego
uniemożliwiają obdarowywanie dzieci miłością
i czułością. A to już jest furtka do zniewoleń i
wreszcie opętań. Naskórkowa religijność,
ograniczająca się do namiastkowej spowiedzi
raz do roku i rzadkich odwiedzin w świątyni,
prowadzi do pustki duchowej, którą łatwo
nawiedzają ciemne siły duchowe. Notoryczne
przyjmowanie Komunii Świętej w stanie
grzechu ciężkiego albo notoryczne zatajanie
grzechu
ciężkiego
przy
spowiedzi
to
najczęściej uczęszczana ścieżka złych duchów.
