Professor Michał Jan Rozbicki has his degrees from UMCS Lublin and the University of Warsaw, where he served as
Director of the American Studies Center until 1990.
Professor Rozbicki is the recipient of numerous scholarship grants and the author of acclaimed publications, including
The Complete Colonial Gentleman: Cultural Legitimacy in Plantation America (Charlottesville and London: University
Press of Virginia, 1998), Tranformation of English Cultural Ethos in Colonial America: Maryland, 1634-1720 (Warsaw:
Warsaw University Press, 1985; Lanham, MD: University Press of America, 1988), and Narodziny Narodu: Historia
Stanów Zjednoczonych Ameryki do 1860 roku (Warsaw: Interim, 1991). His book Culture and Liberty in the Age of the
American Revolution is forthcoming from University of Virginia Press.
