The Cornerstone
We trace the origins of the ‘shrine’ as far back as our memories will allow. In the case of our Judeo-Christian heritage we go
back to the altars built by the Patriarchs. The next marker is that of the temple of Jerusalem which was meant to house the name of
Yahweh as well as the Ark of the Covenant.
These shrines were made of stone. Our ‘soon to become’ shrine of St. Stanislaus is the same. But Jesus, our risen Savior, has
become the cornerstone and living stone. It is His presence in our Shrine that brings it to life. He will use our bodies to do His
work, to bring the dead to life, to be the living stones of a living temple.
“He is the living stone, rejected by human beings but chosen by God and precious to Him; come to Him that you, too, may be
living stones making a spiritual house as a holy priesthood to offer the spiritual sacrifices made acceptable to God through Jesus
Christ.” (1Peter 2:4-5)

PASTORAL MESSAGE
EASTER JOY
Without Easter, nothing makes any
sense at all. With Easter, everything
does. The Church throughout the world
celebrates that moment when the mercy
of God triumphs over judgment; when
love conquers hate, life conquers death,
light overcomes darkness, and hope prevails over despair. If Jesus were simply another heroic man
who died a tragic death, he would simply be one of countless
through all of human history. At best, he would be remembered
by some in his culture. Or perhaps a legend or two would
evolve about him.
But the resurrection of Christ from the dead is a moment
that is both within history and transcendent of it. It is a specific
event that took place in a particular time and place, yet it is also
so much more. It is a timeless, perpetual, continuing action of
God working in

every day and every moment of bring reconciliaand peace to

Every year for Lent, we gather some adult parishioners and
friends who share their faith in a lively discussion group. This
year we dedicated our time to reading and working through a
wonderful book by one of my former seminary professors, Fr.
Robert Schreiter, C.PP.S., entitled, “The Ministry of Reconciliation.” All of us have a long road to travel before coming to
a point of reconciliation with those who have hurt us in the past.
Those who are part of our parish community have an especially
difficult path in our relationship with what happened to us over
a year ago with the murder of Fr. William and the arson of our
rectory.
Fr. Schreiter’s wonderful little book helped many of us see
the life-giving path before us. That path, of course, is the path
of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Fr. Schreiter
pointed out that in the resurrection appearances, the risen Jesus
always reveals himself in exactly the way that a particular person most needs to experience him. To Mary in the garden, he
reaffirms her love for him by calling her by name. To Thomas,
he reaffirms his faith by inviting him to see for himself. To the
disciples on the way to Emmaus, he returns to them a sense of
hope by revealing his presence to them in the Eucharist. To the
apostles on the seashore, he feeds them and sends them on mission.
How will the risen Jesus reveal himself to you? The first
step is to ask yourself what you need from him. Lent has been
about identifying what is lacking. Easter is about finding that
Jesus had been there all along.
May God bless all of you this Easter season. If you are a
regular parishioner, you know how good God has been to us,
and how dedicated so many of you are to continuing his mission. And if you only come a couple times a year — welcome
home. We miss you, and God needs you. Happy Easter!

uœcisków, a usta wypowiadaj¹ s³owa ¿yczeñ: Weso³ych Œwi¹t!”
Radoœæ i optymizm dominuj¹ w naszym prze¿ywaniu Wielkanocy. Bowiem ten czas to œwiêtowanie najwiêkszego zwyciêstwa: nieba nad piek³em, Boga nad szatanem, mi³oœci nad
nienawiœci¹, ¿ycia nad œmierci¹.
Wielki Pi¹tek zdawa³ siê byæ triumfem piek³a i szatana. Jednak w niedzielê Zmartwychwstania odwróci³a siê karta. Ca³y
wysi³ek wrogów Chrystusa okaza³ siê pró¿ny. Z mozo³em wybierali drzewo na krzy¿, dŸwigali olbrzymi kamieñ na grób,
sprz¹dzali szydereczy napis na krzy¿u. Nie spodziewali siê, ¿e w
ten sposób przygotowuj¹ Chrystusowi tylko wiêkszy triumf.
Wszystko to, co mia³o byæ przyczyn¹ hañby sta³o siê dowodem
Zmartwychwstania i proklamacj¹ dla triumfuj¹cego Króla.
Kiedyœ jeden z myœlicieli powiedzia³: Nie wiem co wydarzy³o
siê w poranek Wielkanocny, ale wiem dobrze, ¿e tego dnia
narodzi³a siê ludzkoœæ, która nie umiera.
W Zmartwychwstaniu Chrystusa przepowiednie proroków
sta³y siê rzeczywistoœci¹. Wszystkie figury Starego Testamentu,
wszystkie wyzwolenia narodu wybranego z niewoli s¹
zapowiedzi¹ najwiêkszego wyzwolenia dokonanego przez
Chrystusa. Jego wyzwolenie jest triumfem nad najwiêkszym
z³em, które ma swe Ÿród³o w grzechu. To wyzwolenie jest zwyciêstwem wobec najwiêkszej katastrofy i niewoli w jak¹ popad³
rodzaj ludzki po grzechu pierworodnym. Sens tego zwyciêstwa
jest bardzo istotny dla ca³ego rodzaju ludzkiego. Obejmuje
ka¿dego z nas, bez wyj¹tku. Dlatego Wielkanoc powinna byæ
œwiêtem radoœci i optymizmu. A ten optymizm nie jest naiwny,
nie jest ¿adn¹ iluzj¹; oparty jest na najsilniejszym fundamencie na Zmartwychwstaniu Chrystusa. Bo: “Je¿eli Chrystus nie zmartwychwsta³, daremna jest wasza wiara” (Kor 15,17). S³usznie!
Jaki bowiem sens mia³oby wówczas uczciwe ¿ycie, modlitwa,
cierpienie? Wtedy - cz³owiek znajdowa³by siê w gorszym
po³o¿eniu ni¿ zwierzêta, ktore nie musz¹ siê trudziæ, przejmowaæ
kodeksem moralnym i zabiegaæ o swoje zbawienie.
Jako istoty rozumne jesteœmy przekonani, ¿e ziemska egzystencja to nie wszystko, ¿e za ni¹ nie mo¿e byæ pustka. Potwierdza tê prawdê Zmartwychwsta³y. W Nim zakorzeniamy
swoj¹ nadziejê, swoj¹ radoœæ i optymizm. Jego zmartwychwstanie prowadzi do zmartwychwstania ka¿dego z nas. To przekonanie wyra¿ajmy szczególnie dzisiaj. A jutro, w kolejne dni i lata
umiejmy je wyraziæ ca³ym swoim ¿yciem.
W ten najradoœniejszy poranek radujmy sie z ca³ego serca i z
ca³ej duszy, bo oto wszystko staje siê nowe, gdy¿

PARISH COUNCIL
ELECTION
The Parish Pastoral Council (PPC)
elections will be held on May 1 & 2.
Several fine candidates have been nominated for presentation to the parish, and
they are in the process of discerning their
call to leadership and service. The purpose of the PPC is to promote the spiritual growth of the parish community and
to plan ways for the parish to carry out
the mission of the Church. The PPC also
acts as a consultative body to the Pastor
on matters concerning the life and pastoral ministry of the parish.
If you will be away from the parish
during the weekend of May 1 & 2 but
still would like to vote for the new members of the Parish Pastoral Council,
please call the rectory for a ballot to be
sent to you or pick one up at the rectory
in person. All absentee ballots must be
turned in by May 2. Any ballots received after that time cannot be counted.

the week of April 19 & April 26
ANNUAL EASTER MASS FOR THE
HOMEBOUND
Do miracles still happen? We as
Christian believers have hope that God
in his merciful goodness would help us
in our time of greatest suffering and
need. St. Stanislaus and the Lil Bros
have made it an annual tradition to have
a special Mass for our “homebound” parishioners. We will celebrate this special
Liturgy next Sunday April 18, at 2:00
PM. If there are any parishioners that
need assistance in getting to church

CLEVELAND, OHIO
ST. STANISLAUS POLISH FESTIVAL NEWS!
Only 60 days until the cooking crew starts up the ovens and gets cooking for the
festival. The following is the cooking schedule for the summer months. We would
love to have you come down and pinch some pierogis with the group. Cooking Dates
are as follows:
June 10th & 11th, June 17th & 18th, July 8th and 9th. Start time each day is 10:00am.
So schedule a day off and find out the secret ingredients that go into our homemade
pierogis.
Don’t forget the Polish Festival dates are October 1st, 2nd and 3rd. If you have any
questions about the festival please don’t hesitate to contact our co-chairperson’s Joe

RCIA REUNION PICNIC
On May 10th at 6:30pm, the RCIA
team will be hosting the annual reunion mass and picnic for all past participants, team and teachers of the RCIA
program. The mass and picnic will be
held in the convectory chapel and picnic weather permitting will be in the
convectory yard. We hope you can all
join us. Chicken, pizza and refreshments will be provided please bring a
side dish or dessert to share. If you

CELEBRATIONS
Two major celebrations surround
the feast of St. Stanislaus -- the "Four
Eagle Award Banquet" and the May 8
Shrine Designation Liturgy.
The banquet will be held on May
7, 7:00PM at the Polish American
Cultural Center on East 65th and
Lansing.
This year's recipient will be the
Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth
in gratitude for their numerous years
of service at St. Stanislaus Church and
School. Reservations are a must, so
please contact the rectory as soon as
possible.
The following day, on the Feast of
St. Stanislaus, our church will be designated as a Shrine at the 5:00PM Mass.
The Mass will be celebrated by Bishop
Ryszard Karpinski, Auxiliary Bishop
of Lublin, Delegate of the Polish Episcopate to World Polonia. Following
that service we will have a fellowship
at the Social Center. Translation: We
will need BAKERY!!!!! Please consider sharing your talents in this area
making this celebration the best ever!

High School on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Cleveland will
hold its 14th Annual Festa Scholarship Dinner on April 24,
