LORD, IS IT TRUE THAT FEW PEOPLE WILL BE SAVED?
Today, the Gospel raises the theme of the salvation for our souls. St. Augustine said «the man
who self-annihilated his goodness, which could have been eternal, deserved the eternal
damnation». We have only two possibilities in our life: either God or the void, for without God
nothing has any meaning. In this sense, when they do not participate of the essence of God,
life, death, joy, pain, love, etc., are just concepts without any logic. When the man sins, he
avoids the Creator's glance to center it upon himself. God is constantly looking at the sinner
with love, and in order not to force his freedom; He expects a minimum gesture of been willing
to get back to him. «Lord, is it true that few people will be saved? (Lk 13:23). Christ does not
respond to this question. Therefore, it remained unanswered, just as it is today, for «it is an
inscrutable mystery between the saintliness of God and the conscience of man. The silence of
the Church is, therefore, Christians' only opportune position» (John Paul II). The Church does
not state any opinion about those who dwell in hell, but - basing itself in Christ's words - it
does state an opinion about its existence and the fact there will be many damned in the Final
Judgment. And whoever denies this, whether clerical or lay, incurs, without further ado, in
heresy. We are free to turn the stare of our soul towards the Savior, and we are also free to
stick to our refusal. Our death will simply petrify our option forever.

Annoucements (English)
Come join the Diocese of London Year of Mercy pilgrimage to the Martyr’s Shrine in Midland on
Wednesday August 24. Our Sarnia Deanery bus departs St. Benedict’s at 7 am. That afternoon (2 pm)
there will be Holy Mass at the shrine with Bishop’s Fabbro and Dabrowski. To reserve your seat the cost is
$50 (non-refundable) at the St. Benedict’s office (519-336-2653). Picnic meals or plan to buy food at the
shrine or on the way home. More details to come. The office Pilgrimage booklet for the Holy Year of

The Queen of Peace Barbeque will be on September 17 after the Saturday Vigil Mass (5pm) so please
reserve this date. Tickets will be sold after each Mass beginning on August 13. Tickets are $10 and
children under 12 are free.
The Sunday 9:30 am Mass Choir is in need of more people. If you love to sing and want to do something
for our church please come up to the choir loft and sing to the Lord.
The Saturday 5pm Mass is also in need of Altar servers and Readers.
CWL meeting will be August 28 after 11:00 am Polish Mass.
FEAST OF ST. MICHAEL THE ARCHANGEL IN MELROSE
The Michaelite Fathers invite you to the annual feast of St. Michael the Archangel, which will be held on
Sunday, September 11th at Michaelite Fathers's Retreat Center in Melrose. It will begin with an outdoor
Mass at 4:00pm. Most Reverend Jozef Dabrowski will celebrate Solemn Mass and preach. It will be good
opportunity to thank God for the anniversary of the priesthood: 25th anniversary of Bp Jozef and 50th of
Father Tadeusz Kowalczyk. Before Mass at 3pm we will pray the chapter to Saint Miachael the Archangel.
After the Mass, as it is our custom, we invite you for coffee, paczki and a concert of religious music.
During the ceremony the pilgrim statue of St. Michael the Archangel as well as relics of Bl.
BronislawMarkiewicz will be present. There will be also an opportunity for confessions before Mass.
There will be also an opportunity to purchase various religious articles and to order a mass. Most of the
celebrations will be held in English. If you wish you are welcome to bring your own lawn chair.

ODPUST U KSIĘŻY MICHALITÓW W MELROSE
Księża Michalici zapraszają na doroczny odpust ku czci Św. Michała Archanioła, który odbędzie się w
niedzielę, 11 września br. w Melrose. Uroczystości rozpoczną się o godz. 16:00 (4PM) Mszą św. polową.
Celebracji przewodniczyć będzię oraz homilię wygłosi Jego Ekscelencja ks. Bp Józef Dąbrowski. Przed
Mszą świętą o godzinie 15.00 (3PM) koronka do Świętego Michała Archanioła. Będzie to szczególna
okazja do dziękczynienia Panu Bogu za dar kapłaństwa: 25 lat kapłaństwa ks. Bp Józefa oraz 50 lat
kapłaństwa ks. Tadeusza Kowalczyka. Po Mszy świętej, jak zawsze zapraszamy na kawę i pączki oraz
koncert muzyki religijnej. Podczas uroczystości obecna będzie figura św. Michała Archanioła, która
pielgrzymuje po naszych parafiach oraz relikwie bł. Bronisława Markiewicza. Będzie również możliwość
"Życzliwe słowa przyjaciół mogą być krótkie i łatwe do wypowiedzenia, ale ich działanie jest naprawdę

Pragniemy serdecznie podziękować za wsparcie i modlitwę w trudnych chwilach choroby.Okazuje się że
miniony czas i odległość nie przekreśliły nawiązanych przed laty więzi.
Szczególnie serdecznie dziękujemy ks.Zbigniewowi Rodzince w którym od wielu lat, w trudnych
sytuacjach życiowych mieliśmy wsparcie i doświadczamy z jego strony wiele życzliwości.

MATKI BOŻEJ CZĘSTOCHOWSKIEJ
Historia Polski związana jest od wieków niewątpliwie z osobą Niepokalanej Dziewicy. Jasna
Góra z obrazem Matki Boskiej Częstochowskiej jest niekwestionowaną religijną stolicą Polski.
Pielgrzymki sierpniowe ściągają na jasnogórskie wały tłumy ludzi i to nie tylko Polaków. Jest to,
sierpniowe pielgrzymowanie niezwykłym fenomenem socjologicznym, religijnym i duchowym.
Szkoda tylko, że w wielu wypadkach fenomen ten ogranicza się do tych kilku sierpniowych dni.
Na co dzień bowiem wydaje się jakbyśmy o naszej Matce zapominali, jakbyśmy zapominali o Jej
słowach tak zdecydowanych i klarownych z Ewangelii na Jej uroczystość: „Zróbcie wszystko,
cokolwiek mój Syn wam powie”. Tak trudno jest nam przetłumaczyć narodowe i religijne
uniesienia na język codziennego życia, tak trudno jest nam zaufać, zawierzyć, że Bóg dając nam
Matkę, daje nam Ją, jako Matkę obecną w codzienności i nie oczekuje od nas jedynie
euforycznych uniesień, a raczej religijnego kształtowania naszego codziennego życia. Tak trudno
jest nam zawierzyć słowom Matki, Która kieruje nas wprost i bezpośrednio do Chrystusa. Czyżby
miała się powtórzyć historia Izraela, o którym Bóg przez usta proroka Izajasza mówi: „ten lud
zbliża się do Mnie tylko w słowach, i sławi Mnie tylko wargami, podczas gdy serce jego jest z
dala ode Mnie; ponieważ cześć jego jest dla Mnie tylko wyuczonym przez ludzi zwyczajem...”
(Iz 29:13)?
A Świat patrzy na Polskę z nadzieją, szczególnie po Światowych Dniach Młodzieży, że nasza
religijność pomoże im odnaleźć to, co Świat zagubił w swoim dobrobycie … Czy Polska
rzeczywiście nie ma takiej właśnie misji do spełnienia? Czy nie po to, Maryja została ogłoszona
za Królową Polski, aby dać współczesnemu spoganizowanemu Światu na powrót Chrystusa? A
może warto przypomnieć, że Polski Papież przez prawie 27 lat swego pontyfikatu stale
wskazywał na Jej szczególną rolę w życiu Kościoła i naszego Narodu. Jego „TOTUS TUUS” Cały Twój - mógłby przecież być hasłem życia każdego Polaka. Święta Boża Rodzicielko, naucz
nas wrażliwości na nauczanie Jezusa Chrystusa, na Odwieczne Słowo Boże.
