GRAFITEX Packing (for valves and pumps)
1.
Structure
GRAFITEX packing is plaited throughout from graphite yarn twisted of high purity expanded graphite (carbon contents
above 95%, low chloride contents below 50 ppm).
2. Characteristic
GRAFITEX packing is general purpose graphite packing especially
recommended to use in high – speed pumps. Thanks to a special plait the
GRAFITEX packing maintains all advantages of graphite: high temperature
resistance, excellent thermal conductivity, unusually low friction
coefficient, self-lubricity. It is easy to cut handle, install and remove.
Additionally the GRAFITEX packing contains corrosion inhibitor to protect
shafts against corrosion. Temperature stability of the graphite packing
prevents ageing and hardening it during the service. It may be used in
contact with all chemical and energetic environments except for strong
oxidizers (concentrated HNO3, oleum etc.).
3. Application
GRAFITEX packing is recommended to seal high-speed rotodynamic
pumps ( up to 25 m/sec) in :
 power industry – for high – temperature pumps feeding boilers(
temperature up to 450C),
 chemical industry - for pumps operating in chemically aggressive
media,
 petrochemical industry – resistance to oils, hydrocarbons and
other petrochemical media,
 refinery industry – resistance to corrosive media.
