the coats will be given to the Catholic Charities.
School News
At the school Mass on Thursday, October 16th the children
will honor St. Hedwig—there is a statue depicting her on our
main altar.
Everyone is welcome to pray the Rosary with the school children at 2PM on Wednesday, October 22nd in the presence of
the Blessed Sacrament in our church.
The Parents’ Club is planning a Potluck supper and a Halloween celebration on Thursday, October 30th at 6PM in Makuch
Hall.
Tickets for the gigantic Christmas raffle are now being sold.
Ticket prices $5 for one ticket or 3 for $10. Contact the school
office if you are interested in the raffle or if you can help to sell
some tickets.
In honor of the Columbus Day observance on Monday, October 13th, classes will not be held. On Friday, October 17th the
teachers will attend the Archdiocesan Catechetical Conference;
therefore, classes will not be in session.
Our next Religious Education class will be held on
Saturday, October 18,
2008. This session will begin with the 8:00 Mass. All students
are to go directly to the church. Please be on time.
Our catechists and helpers will be commissioned during this
Mass and we ask all of our volunteer helpers to be present also

expectation that we should also have all that we want. Good

God’s many blessings.

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Every year we celebrate World
Mission Sunday on the 3rd Sunday
of October. This year, 2008 the
Church in the United States marks
the 100th anniversary of our no
longer being a mission territory. In
1908, it was decided that we had
reached a point of self-sufficiency as
the Catholic Church in the United
States. As we mark the anniversary,
we celebrate our rich missionary
history and reflect with gratitude on the debt we owe to the missionaries who journeyed here and to the Catholics who supported their efforts through the Pontifical Mission Societies.
The Second Vatican Council reminded us that we are all missionaries by reason of our Baptism. We are called to proclaim
Christ to all people through our words, but more importantly by
our lives. We pray for missionaries throughout the world and
offer our financial support as a way to share in the mission of the
Church.
In this Year of St. Paul, Pope Benedict XVI has challenged us
to imitate the zeal of St. Paul and devote ourselves anew to the
work of mission in our home, neighborhood, work-place and
wherever we find ourselves. Each day we must allow the Word
of God to transform our lives to such an extent that we give a
compelling witness to the love of Christ. Love must be the motivation for our participation in the mission of Christ, and, like Paul,
we need to emulate the compassion, tenderness, care and availability of the Lord in whose footsteps we follow; then we will be
true “servants and apostles of Christ Jesus.
The Church exists for mission, and numerous people await the
proclamation of the Gospel. Your support of the Pontifical Mission Society is a sign of our communion in the Mystical Body of
Christ. It is a communion that needs to be extended through
mission. Pray for all missionaries to be authentic ambassadors
of Christ. Live with a deep sense of mission so that the light of
Christ can shine brightly on all people. Thank you and God Bless
you.

Next weekend, October 18th and 19th the second
collection will be taken up for the Propagation of the
Faith in honor of WORLD MISSION SUNDAY.
Traditionally, the church has dedicated November to the holy
souls. If you would like to remember the souls of your departed
loved ones, please take an All Souls Day envelope home with
you today. The feast of All Souls will be celebrated on Sunday,
November 2nd. Your loved ones will be remembered in all of the
Masses on this day and also throughout the year.

XXVIII Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario
En aquel tiempo, de nuevo tomó Jesús la palabra y habló en
parábolas a los sumos sacerdotes y a los ancianos del pueblo: El reino de los cielos se parece a un rey que celebraba la
boda de su hijo. Mandó criados para que avisaran a los convidados a la boda, pero no quisieron ir. Volvió a mandar criados, encargándoles que les dijeran: "Tengo preparado el banquete, he matado terneros y reses cebadas, y todo está a
punto. Venid a la boda". Los convidados no hicieron caso;
uno se marchó a sus tierras, otro a sus negocios; los demás
les echaron mano a los criados y los maltrataron hasta matarlos. El rey montó en cólera, envió sus tropas, que acabaron
con aquellos asesinos y prendieron fuego a la ciudad. Luego
dijo a sus criados: "La boda está preparada, pero los convidados no se la merecían. Id ahora a los cruces de los caminos,
y a todos los que encontréis, convidadlos a la boda." Los criados salieron a los caminos y reunieron a todos los que encontraron, malos y buenos. La sala del banquete se llenó de comensales. Cuando el rey entró a saludar a los comensales,
reparó en uno que no llevaba traje de fiesta y le dijo: "Amigo,
¿cómo has entrado aquí sin vestirte de fiesta?" El otro no
abrió la boca. Entonces el rey dijo a los camareros: "Atadlo de
pies y manos y arrojadlo fuera, a las tinieblas. Allí será el llanto y el rechinar de dientes." Porque muchos son los llamados
y pocos los escogidos.

Santa Teresa de Jesús-15 de Octubre
Nace Teresa en Ávila el 28 de marzo de 1515.
A los dieciocho años, entra en el Carmelo. A los
cuarenta y cinco años, para responder a las
gracias extraordinarias del Señor, emprende
una nueva vida cuya divisa será: «O sufrir o
morir». Es entonces cuando funda el convento
de San José de Ávila, primero de los quince
Carmelos que establecerá en España. Con san
Juan de la Cruz, introdujo la gran reforma carmelitana. Sus
escritos son un modelo seguro en los caminos de la plegaria y
de la perfección. Murió en Alba de Tormes, al anochecer del 4
de octubre de 1582. Pablo VI la declaró doctora de la Iglesia el
27 de septiembre de 1970.

El domingo 19 de Octubre a las 5 pm se
dará inicio a la celebración de Misa para
niños, donde ellos podrán participar.

San Gerardo Mayela

Gerardo nace en 1726 en Muro,
pequeña ciudad del Sur de Italia.
Tiene la suerte de tener por madre
a Benedecta que le enseñará el
inmenso e ilimitado amor de Dios.
Se siente feliz porque siente estar
cerca de Dios. Hace su primera
profesión el 16 de julio de 1752, y
el hecho de que se trate del día en que se celebra el
Ssmo. Redentor además de ser la festividad de
Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo le llena de felicidad.
En 1754, su director espiritual le pide que escriba en
una cuartilla lo que desea por encima de cualquier
otra cosa. Escribe: "Amar mucho a Dios; estar siempre unido a Dios; hacerlo todo por Dios; amar a todos
por Dios; sufrir mucho por Dios: lo único que cuenta
es hacer la voluntad de Dios".Pocos santos son recordados por tantos milagros como los que se le atribuyen a S. Gerardo. El proceso de su beatificación y
canonización revela que hizo cantidad de milagros,
de todo género y tipo. Poco antes de la medianoche
del 15 de octubre de 1755, su alma inocente vuela al
Cielo. Tras su muerte, se producen milagros en casi
toda Italia, todos atribuidos a la intercesión de Gerardo. En 1893, el Papa León XIII lo beatifica y el 11 de
diciembre de 1904 el Papa Pío X lo canoniza proclamándolo santo de la Iglesia Católica.
El Santo de las madres
Debido a los milagros que Dios ha obrado por intercesión de Gerardo en favor de las madres, las mamás de Italia pusieron gran empeño en que se nombrara a S. Gerardo su patrón. En el proceso de su
beatificación se asegura que Gerardo era conocido
como "el santo de los partos felices".
Millares de madres han podido experimentar el poder
de S. Gerardo a través de la "Cofradía de S. Gerardo". Muchos hospitales dedican su departamento de
maternidad al santo y distribuyen entre sus pacientes
medallas e imágenes de san Gerardo con su correspondiente oración. A millares de niños se les ha impuesto el nombre de Gerardo por padres convencidos de que, gracias a la intercesión del santo, sus
hijos han nacido bien. Hasta a las niñas se les impone su nombre, por lo que es interesante constatar
cómo el nombre de "Gerardo" se ha transformado en
Gerarda, Geralina, Gerardina, Geriana y Gerardita.
Las próximas clases de Religión (CCD) vamos a tener el día
18 de Octubre de 2008. Este día nos reunimos a las 8:00AM
en la iglesia para celebrar la Misa. Pedimos la puntualidad.

Jezus w przypowieściach mówił do arcykapłanów i starszych
ludu: Królestwo niebieskie podobne jest do króla, który wyprawił ucztę weselną swemu synowi. Posłał więc swoje sługi, żeby
zaproszonych zwołali na ucztę, lecz ci nie chcieli przyjść. Posłał
jeszcze raz inne sługi z poleceniem: Powiedzcie zaproszonym:
Oto przygotowałem moją ucztę: woły i tuczne zwierzęta pobite i
wszystko jest gotowe. Przyjdźcie na ucztę! Lecz oni zlekceważyli to i poszli: jeden na swoje pole, drugi do swego kupiectwa,
a inni pochwycili jego sługi i znieważywszy [ich], pozabijali. Na
to król uniósł się gniewem. Posłał swe wojska i kazał wytracić
owych zabójców, a miasto ich spalić. Wtedy rzekł swoim sługom: Uczta wprawdzie jest gotowa, lecz zaproszeni nie byli jej
godni. Idźcie więc na rozstajne drogi i zaproście na ucztę
wszystkich, których spotkacie. Słudzy ci wyszli na drogi i sprowadzili wszystkich, których napotkali: złych i dobrych. I sala
zapełniła się biesiadnikami. Wszedł król, żeby się przypatrzyć
biesiadnikom, i zauważył tam człowieka, nie ubranego w strój
weselny. Rzekł do niego: Przyjacielu, jakże tu wszedłeś nie mając stroju weselnego? Lecz on oniemiał. Wtedy król rzekł sługom: Zwiążcie mu ręce i nogi i wyrzućcie go na zewnątrz, w
ciemności! Tam będzie płacz i zgrzytanie zębów. Bo wielu jest
powołanych, lecz mało wybranych.
Mt 22,1-14
Św. Teresa z Avila - 15 października
Teresa de Cepeda y Ahumada urodziła się 28 marca 1515 r. w Hiszpanii. Pochodziła ze szlacheckiej i
zamożnej rodziny zamieszkałej w Avili. Miała 2
siostry i 9 braci. Na skutek czytania żywotów świętych postanowiła uciec do Afryki, aby tam z rąk
Maurów ponieść śmierć męczeńską. Miała wtedy
zaledwie 7 lat. Złożyła śluby zakonne w roku 1537..
W roku 1560 przeżyła wizję piekła. Wstrząsnęła
ona nią do głębi, napełniła bojaźnią Bożą oraz zatroskaniem o zbawienie
grzeszników i duchem apostolskim ratowania dusz nieśmiertelnych. W
roku 1562 zakupiła skromną posiadłość w Avila, dokąd przeniosła się z
czterema ochotniczkami. Liczba wszystkich, osobiście założonych przez
Teresę domów, doszła do 15. Św. Jan od Krzyża zreformował 22 klasztory męskie. Grzegorz XIII w roku 1580 zatwierdził nowe prowincje: karmelitów i karmelitanek bosych.
Zmarła 4 października 1582 r. w wieku 67 lat. Została beatyfikowana w
roku 1614 przez Pawła V, a kanonizował ją w roku 1622 Grzegorz XV.
Teresa Wielka ma nie tylko wspaniałą kartę jako reformatorka Karmelu,
ale też jako pisarz Kościoła. Kiedy 27 września 1970 r. Paweł VI ogłosił
ją doktorem Kościoła, nadał jej tytuł "doktora mistycznego". Zasłużyła
sobie na ten tytuł w całej pełni. Zostawiła bowiem dzieła, które można
nazwać w dziedzinie mistyki klasycznymi.
Św. Teresa z Avila jest patronką Hiszpanii, miast Avila i Alba de Tormes;
karmelitów bosych, karmelitów trzewiczkowych, chorych - zwłaszcza
uskarżających się na bóle głowy i serce, dusz w czyśćcu cierpiących.
W ikonografii św. Teresa przedstawiana jest w habicie karmelitanki. Jej
atrybutami są: anioł przeszywający jej serce strzałą miłości, gołąb, krzyż,
pióro i księga, napis: Misericordias Domini in aeternum cantabo, strzała.
Wypominki
Zbliża się miesiąc listopad. W tym czasie będziemy wspominali
wszystkich wiernych zmarłych. Koperty na wypominki znajdują
się przy drzwiach kościoła. Prosimy o wyraźne wypisanie imion i
nazwisk wiernych zmarłych. Koperty można składać do koszyka
wraz z niedzielną kolekta. Msze św. w tych intencjach zostaną
odprawione dnia 2 listopada jak również w ciągu całego roku.

Gerard urodził się w 1726 roku, w Muro,
małym miasteczku na południu Włoch.
Miał szczęście mieć za matkę Benedyktę, która nauczyła go niezmierzonej i
nieograniczonej miłości Boga. Czuł się
szczęśliwy, ponieważ miał poczucie, że jest blisko Pana Boga.
Swoje pierwsze śluby zakonne składa 16 lipca 1752 roku. Ku
jego wielkiej radości była to Uroczystość Najświętszego Odkupiciela i równocześnie święto Matki Bożej z Karmelu. Od
tego dnia, z wyjątkiem krótkiego pobytu w Neapolu i czasu
spędzonego w Caposele, gdzie umiera, całe swoje życie przeżył we wspólnocie Redemptorystów w Iliceto.
W roku 1754 jego kierownik duchowy poleca mu, żeby napisał na kartce, jakie jest jego największe pragnienie. I napisał:
„Bardzo kochać Pana Boga; być zawsze zjednoczonym z Bogiem; czynić wszystko dla Pana Boga; kochać wszystkich ze
względu na Pana Boga; wiele dla Pana Boga cierpieć; jedyne
co się w życiu liczy, to pełnienie Woli Bożej”.
Niewielu świętych może się poszczycić tyloma cudami, które
przypisuje się świętemu Gerardowi. Proces jego beatyfikacji i
kanonizacji ujawnia, że dokonał bardzo wielu cudów wszelkiego typu i rodzaju. Większość cudów zdziałał, aby przyjść z
pomocą innym. Wiele razy Gerard wyjawia ludziom ich ukryte grzechy, których się wstydzili wyznać na spowiedzi, doprowadzając ich do skruchy i pokuty po otrzymaniu rozgrzeszenia. Również jego cudowny apostolat na rzecz matek jest
przyczyną jego sławy jeszcze za życia.
Niedługo przed północą 15 października 1755 roku jego niewinna dusza ulatuje do nieba.
Po śmierci Gerarda prawie w całych Włoszech dzieją się za
jego wstawiennictwem cuda. W roku 1893, zostaje on beatyfikowany przez Papieża Leona XIII, a 11 grudnia 1904 roku,
Papież Pius X zalicza go w poczet świętych Kościoła Katolickiego.
Święty matek
Na skutek cudów dokonanych przez Boga za wstawiennictwem św. Gerarda dla dobra matek, mamy Włoskie podjęły
wielkie starania, żeby ogłosić go ich patronem. W czasie procesu beatyfikacyjnego stwierdzono, że Gerard był znany jako
„święty od szczęśliwych porodów”.
Tysiące matek mogły doświadczyć mocy św. Gerarda poprzez „Bractwo św. Gerarda”. Wiele szpitali swoje oddziały
porodowe poświęca św. Gerardowi i pomiędzy pacjentki rozdzielane są medaliki oraz obrazki św. Gerarda wraz z umieszczoną tam odpowiednią modlitwą. Tysiącom dzieci rodzice
nadawali imię Gerarda w przekonaniu, że poród był szczęśliwy dzięki wstawiennictwu świętego. Nawet dziewczynkom
nadawano jego imię i stąd powstały interesujące przekształcenia imienia "Gerard" na: Gerarda, Geralina, Gerardina, Geriana i Gerardita.

Dear Parishioners,
On behalf of the Finance Council, I want to thank our parishioners for their generous
support of our parish during the past year. Attached is a summary of the Annual Financial Report of our parish for the fiscal year July 1, 2007– June 2008. We want to thank
all of our parishioners who are making regular and sacrificial gifts to St. Mary of
Czestochowa Parish to support our ministries, charitable contributions as well as the
support to maintain our parish properties.
Our entire detailed Financial Report consists of 15 pages. This entire report is sent to the
Archdiocese Finance Office. A copy is sent to the office of Bishop Thomas Paprocki, the
bishop of our Vicariate , as well. Copies are also filed in our parish rectory office.
If any parishioner would like to peruse the 15 page report in its entirety, please make arrangements to come to the rectory. We will be happy to have you study it in detail.
Your continued stewardship of your treasure as well as your time and talents will assure
the continued improvement of the parish of St. Mary of Czestochowa as a faithful
