the school at 7:30 PM every 1st Wednesday of the Month in
English and every 3rd Wednesday of the Month in Polish.
Marriage:
Arrangements must be made at least four months in advance.
Please make an appointment with one of the priests to begin the
process.
Sick Calls:
In all cases of serious illness or accident the priest should be
called at once. Holy Communion will be brought to the sick
upon request.

The Living Rosary
Join us on

Participate in the tradition of the living rosary with
members of our community. Come to learn how to
pray the rosary, listen to a brief explanation of why we
say the rosary, and pray together as followers of Mary,
Mother of God. All men, women, and children of the
community are invited. There is no cost to attend.
If you would like to be a participant in the living rosary, please
be in the foyer of the church by 6:30 p.m.
Spiritual Retreat with Fr. Andrew Apostoli, CFR
On Saturday, October 30, Fr. Andrew Apostoli will be
in Chicago as the retreat master for “The Spirituality of
Padre Pio for Our Times.” The retreat will be held at
Our Lady of Victory, 5212 W. Agatite. Registration
begins at 7 a.m. and the program runs from 9 a.m. to
4:30 p.m. It includes four presentations by Fr. Apostoli,
Mass, confessions and individual spiritual direction
throughout the day, time for personal reflection and a
complete buffet lunch. The cost is $55 per person;

Volunteers Needed
At Mass, the extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion
have the great privilege of administering, along with
the ordained ministers, the Body and Blood of Jesus to
those who come forward to receive the Lord. This is a
very prayerful, joyous, and humbling ministry. Many
people say, “Oh, I could never do that. I’m not worthy.”
None of us are worthy. If only those who were worthy
could serve, we would have no ministers at all! Our
parish is in need of additional extraordinary ministers
of Holy Communion at the English Masses. Those
who perform this ministry will tell you how their service
is a gift that is returned many times over. If you have
any questions or are interested in serving as a Eucharistic

Free of Fear
In both the Old Testament and the Gospel reading
today, lepers are cured: one through the prophet Elisha
and ten by Jesus. These readings are less about physical
healing and much more about faith and gratitude. In biblical times lepers were total outcasts. Few, if any, would
come near them for fear of catching the disease themselves. In fact, for centuries, anyone with skin problems
of any kind was likely to be labeled a leper and compelled
to leave the local community to live apart with other
sufferers. There was no cure until the 1930s and even
now this disease lingers in poorer countries.
Unlike plague victims, death did not come quickly to lepers, and loneliness and hunger were often worse than the
disease itself. Cut off from family and friends for the rest
of their lives, lepers relied for survival on begging and
handouts. Before approaching any human settlement they
had to cry out loudly or ring a bell to warn people of their
approach.
Imagine then, the joy of these sufferers who find themselves suddenly made well. Now they can slip back into
the blessed ordinariness of day-to-day life. Only two lepers pause after their cure and offer thanks: Naaman the
Aramite commander, cured through the prophet Elisha,
and one unnamed Samaritan cured by Jesus. Neither of
them were “sons of Israel”. Naaman at first tried to give
the prophet Elisha a gift to show his gratitude, which
Elisha refused. Both Naaman and the Samaritan in the
Gospel realized that the power of the God of Israel had
freed them, not only from their physical suffering but also
from the isolation and fear that went along with it. For
that they were truly grateful and said so.

Nun Run to 24 + godzinne doświadczenie,
w którym kobiety w wieku 18-35 są
