Polish for Foriners The Course will concentrate attention on the crucial events in the history of Poland its victories and calamities. its economic and cultural development, the most important places of spiritual life (like Wawel Cathedral, Jasna Góra), greatest achievements of science, industry, literature, music and arts. It aims to bring an acquaintance with life and works of polish outstanding artists (Wyspiański, Nowosielski, Fangor), musicians (Chopin, Wieniawski, Lutosławski, Penderecki), writers (Sienkiewicz, Gombrowicz, Miłosz, Szymborska), movie directories (Wajda, Kieślowski) and scientists (Copernicus, Hevelius, Staszic, Skłodowska – Curie), all eminent persons whose achievements deserves worldwide promotion. Of course not forgetting about the foreigners meritorious for our culture such as Weit Stoss, Francesco Florentino or Bartolomeo Berecci). Among our industrial heritage we mention such as Wieliczka nad Tarnowskie Góry mines, petrol industry open air museum in Bóbrka, and remains of industrial architecture. This course require of participants a bit of activity such as reading works of polish Nobel prize winners I literature, visiting museums and places of great artistic and sentimental value, confronting polish history and its heritage with the history of their own countries, looking for relations and connections. Laboratory classes Polish for Foriners Classes offered by the SJO Method of calculating the final grade 80% The course finish with preparing an essay of about 6 to 10 pages. 20% activity during classes Prerequisites and additional requirements The participants should be ready to spent about 20 euro for the entrance tickets to chosen exhibition we are going to see and talk about.
