ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Film and Art Festival TWO RIVERSIDES is an unique artistic and cultural project destined for the enthusiasts
of cinema and dedicated to the art of cinema and other forms of art, which contribute to artistic films:
literature, music, theatre and visual arts.
TWO RIVERSIDES introduces to the viewers the most recent production (“World Under Canvas” and “In
The Short Run” sections) and the heritage of world cinematography (among others: Pavel Klushantsev,
Carl Th. Dreyer or Roberto Rossellini retrospectives). It also presents the work of great directors of the
present: Bob Rafaleson, Jiří Menzel, Gus Van Sant, Lech Majewski, Brillante Mendoza and uncovers the
creative words of remarkable actors such as Janusz Gajos, Krystyna Janda, Jerzy Stuhr, in the section „And
God Created Actor“. „Music My Love“ is one of Festival’s favorite section for films of all times, which shows
special attitude to music side of cinema. Live concerts during the opening night such as: Bajofondo Tango
Club and Gustavo Santaolalla (Argentina), Francis Hime (Brazil), Melingo (Argentina), Józef Skrzek
(Poland), Carlos Do Carmo (Portugal) are connected to films presented at the Festival.
Two sides of the river is a metaphor not only of our host towns, but also of two sides of art: the author and
the viewer. To meet the artist and the audience is one of the most important goals for the Festival. “Cinema
Lesson – a Confession of Filmmaker” is a special meeting where great filmmakers like: Bob Rafelson,
Andrzej Titkow, Wiesław Saniewski, Bruno Barreto, Jerzy Stuhr, Piotr Szulkin, Sławomir Grünberg, Wojciech
Marczewski, Sławomir Idziak, Krzysztof Zanussi, Filip Bajon, Jan Hřebejk unravel the secrets of their work.
During Festival the audience has an opportunity to meet directors, film industry personalities as well as enjoy
artistic concerts and performances.
TWO RIVERSIDES Festival owes its uniqueness also the two hosting towns. Kazimierz Dolny and Janowiec
are considerable tourist attractions as the most beautifully situated little towns in Poland. They were
established in 12th century what causes that they have unforgettable Medieval atmosphere. Before WWII
they were important centers of Jewish culture.
The 6th Edition of TWO RIVERSIDES Film and Art Festival will be held between 27th of July and 4th of
August 2013. Grażyna Torbicka, an awarded journalist, film expert and a jury member in many international
film festivals such as Berlin, Cannes, has been Artistic Director of the Festival since it’s first edition.
