Exercise 6. Przeczytaj tekst, z podanych odpowiedzi a, b, i c wybierz właściwą, zgodną z jego treścią. For the last few years local councils around Britain have introduced new laws About dustbins. The lids of the bins must now be fully closed when they are put out to be emptied. People whose bins are too full and who can’t close the lid properly can be fined up to Ł 100. At the same time bin emptying has changed from once a week to one every two weeks. We understand what the government wants. It wants us to produce less waste. That’s fine and a good thing but why introduce a new law which makes people’s lives more difficult ? Supermarkets still sell food with too much packaging. Toys still come in huge plastic boxes. The government’s answer to this is that paper and plastic can and should be recycled but how many recycling bins are there ? Not many. It’s easy for people who own cars and can drive to their nearest recycling area but this means more car journeys and more pollution. It doesn’t seem to be the best way to protect the environment. And what about people without cars ? Should they carry their recycling bags on the bus ? We agree with the government that there should be less waste. We disagree on how we can achieve this. 1. The writer doesn’t understand why a/ people don’t close the lids of the bins properly. b/ the government has changed the law c/ we produce so much waste 2. The writer believes that recycling at the moment a/ can actually cause more pollution b/ is waste of time c/ is difficult for everybody 3. The text is about a/ recycling areas b/ transport problems c/ new law BRUDNOPIS …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………… …………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
