OUTREACH
Have you ever wanted to put a new floor in your house (or someone else’s) but had no idea where to start or even how to do it?
Home Depot will be here with instructors to give you a step-bystep, hands-on, demonstration from planning to completing the
project. To add to the information on the Do-It-Yourself class
from Home Depot we want you to know that although the class
will be given in English there will be Polish and Spanish translators present. The class will take place in the auditorium on
February 24th and will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
First of all, thank you for helping us help the homeless. We saw
an unusually large amount of them last week and, thanks to you,
we were ble to care for all of them in a substantial manner. That
is to say that we were able to give them not just healthy food
but stick-to-the-ribs food. We also have been able to give them
boots and warm accessories. (The one thing we overlooked
was to ask you for men’s socks; one man changed out of his
shoes and the first thing we noticed was that he had no socks
on!) We are seeing much more of the homeless than we ever
had before so please don’t stop sending the food – and possibly
socks for us to distribute.

BLESSED SACRAMENT
"Could you not watch one hour with Me?"
The exposition and adoration of the Blessed
Sacrament is held on Wednesdays, from 6:00pm
to 8:00pm. Silence and prayer spent in front of the
Blessed Sacrament is the best opportunity to
prepare ourselves to be open to the Lord's graces.
During renovation work in the Church, the
Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take
place in the Auditorium.

What Can I Do Before Lent Begins?
Taking some time to get ready for Lent will ensure
that we aren't going to miss the first week or two of
Lent, because we are just getting started. Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, but we want to be ready to
really take off on that day, rather than just beginning
to think about Lent on that day. Part of what makes
a vacation or a special anniversary so special is the
build-up to it.
Before we get to Ash Wednesday, we should start
asking ourselves some questions and we should start
with some preparations. "What does God want to
give me this year?" This question may require that
I slow down a bit and listen to my inner spirit. For
example, even if I'm very busy, I realize I'm hungry
when I hear my stomach start "growling." "What am
I going to be doing on Ash Wednesday?" Too often,
Ash Wednesday is like every other day, except that I
manage to get to church and get ashes on my forehead. Is there anything else I can do on Ash
Wednesday? How will fasting and abstaining happen for me, for my family on that special day?

Fue la suya una vida en la que se manifestó la fuerza de la
gracia de Dios en medio de enormes dificultades. El terror
a que se vio sometida cuando todavía era una niña llegó a
hacerle olvidar su procedencia y hasta su propio nombre.
Se sabe que nació en el Sudán, en el África Nororiental,
hacia 1869-1872. Sus padres eran oficialmente
musulmanes, pero, de hecho, practicaban la religión
animista. Cuando tenía unos seis o siete años de edad fue
capturada por comerciantes de esclavos, como lo había sido
tiempo antes una hermana, mayor que ella. Metida entre la
multitud de esclavos no pudo recordar cómo se llamaba; por
ironía o sarcasmo la llamaron Bakhita, que en el dialecto de
sus raptores significaba Afortunada o Dichosa.
Como consecuencia de los malos tratos que había recibido,
soportó muchas enfermedades, pero tales dolencias le
ayudaban a revelar sus virtudes. Llevó siempre una vida
humilde y completamente rendida a la voluntad de Dios y a
la regla que había profesado. Pobre de espíritu,
misericordiosa, limpia de corazón, pacífica, amante de la
oración, devota de la Santísima Virgen. Para todos los que
la conocieron fue un fúlgido ejemplo de fidelidad al Evangelio
y a la Iglesia de Cristo.
Murió el 8 de Febrero de 1947, dejando tras de sí no una
pequeña fama de santidad. Los primeros pasos del proceso
de beatificación y canonización se dieron entre 1955 y 1958.
Juan Pablo I mandó publicar el decreto de virtudes el 22 de
Septiembre de 1978. Fue beatificada por Juan Pablo II el 17
de Mayo de 1992, y canonizada el 1 de Octubre de 2000.

Trwają obecnie prace remontowe w naszym kościele.
Zmieniana jest podłoga i zostaną pomalowane boczne
ściany kościoła. Budynek kościoła jest zamknięty i zostanie ponownie otwarty w sobotę 14 lutego. Wszystkie
msze i inne celebracje liturgiczne, jak chrzty czy adoracja Najświętszego Sakramentu, są celebrowane w

Przyjmujemy intencje na Msze św. na rok 2015. Ofiara za
intencję wynosi $15. Intencje należy zamawiać w
kancelarii parafialnej w godzinach pracy. Nie przyjmujemy
intencji przez telefon.
Można również uczcić pamięć swoich bliskich poprzez

Jana Pawła. Zebrano już około 10 tys. dolarów.
Przewidywane całkowite koszty rzeźby, transportu i instalacji to około 30 tys. Dolarów. Osoby, które chciałby
włączyć się w to dzieło, mogą składać ofiary na
parafię z dopiskiem „Pomnik Jana Pawła II” lub „Statue
of John Paul II”. Uroczystość błogosławieństwa i otwarcia pomnika jest zaplanowana na 24 maja tego roku.

Jesus, You Are the Healer . . .
After the last two weeks of blizzard, snow
storms, and shoveling snow, we may all be
saying with Job: “Is not man’s life on earth a
drudgery?” Yet in our psalm, we are asked to
“Praise the Lord who heals the broken hearted”.
In contrast to the lot of Job, in the Gospel
we hear that Jesus healed so many people that
“The whole town was gathered at the door”.
We may not have the gift of healing others
of their illnesses and afflictions, but in between
the first reading and the Gospel, St. Paul gives us
a recipe to be healers to others: “I have become
all things to all, to save at least some.” And so we
sing: “Will you let me be your servant, let me be
as Christ to you ...” (#816)
In the Eucharistic prayer, Jesus continues
our Redemption with his sacrifice. Let us pay
close attention to the words of the Eucharistic
Prayer, and realize that the mystery of our
Redemption is being offered to us each time we
are present at Mass. That should be enough to
lift us from the despondency of Job, and give us
cause to sing at Communion time, “I received the
living god, and my heart is full of joy”. (# 786)
