The Stokes and anti-Stokes emission spectra of Er and Yb codoped LiNbO3 crystal were
recorded using a diode laser 980 nm and an excimer laser 308 nm as the excitation sources.
The effect of excitation power on intensities of Stokes emission and anti-Stokes upconversion emission were investigated. It was found that the Stokes emission intensity
demonstrated a sublinear dependence on excitation power whereas the anti-Stokes emission
lines a quadratic dependence.
The brief discussion of mechanisms responsible for this behaviour is presented.
