GRAMMAR ROUND UP STAGE 1 ARTICLES – PRZEDIMKI Przedimków nieokreślonych a/an używamy przed rzeczownikami policzalnymi, ale tylko w liczbie pojedynczej; a - przed rzeczownikami zaczynającymi się w wymowie od spółgłoski, np. a house (dom), an – przed rzeczownikami zaczynającymi się w wymowie od samogłoski, np. an ear (ucho), an hour – h jest nieme (godzina). Zazwyczaj używamy a/an, gdy wspominamy jakąś rzecz po raz pierwszy. Przedimka określonego the używamy przed rzeczownikami w liczbie pojedynczej i mnogiej, np. the boy (chłopiec), the tables (stoły). The używamy, gdy wspominamy jakąś rzecz po raz drugi lub gdy rozmówcy wiedzą, o której rzeczy jest mowa, np. I can see a dog. The dog is black. Zdania twierdzące W zdaniach twierdzących zawsze mamy najpierw słówko there, a potem czasownik to be: there is (there‟s) w liczbie pojedynczej there are w liczbie mnogiej, np. There is an apple on the table. (Jest jakieś jabłko na stole.) There are two apples on the table. (Są dwa jabłka na stole.) Pytania W pytaniach mamy odwrotną kolejność, czyli tzw. inwersję: is there / are there, np. Is there a book on the table? (Czy jest jakaś książka na stole?) Are there any pens on the floor? (Czy są jakieś długopisy na podłodze?) Przeczenia: W przeczeniach dodajemy jedynie słówko not i otrzymujemy: there is not (there isn‟t) w liczbie pojedynczej there are not (there aren't) w liczbie mnogiej, np. There isn't a chair on the table. (Nie ma krzesła na stole). There aren't any books on the table. (Nie ma żadnych książek na stole). There are some books on the table. We have some sugar in the kitchen. Any występuje w pytaniach oraz w przeczeniach, np. Are there any pictures on the chair? There aren't any chairs in the room.
