Respect Life The Church opposes abortion, but embraces with mercy those who have made this mistake. Let’s all take encouragement from these words of Pope John Paul II: “I would now like to say a special word to women who have had an abortion. The Church is aware of the many factors which may have influenced your decision, and she does not doubt that in many cases it was a painful and even shattering decision. The wound in your heart may not yet have healed. Certainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope. Try rather to understand what happened and face it honestly. If you have not already done so, give yourselves over with humility and trust to repentance. The Father of mercies is ready to give you his forgiveness and his peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. To the same Father and to his mercy you can with sure hope entrust your child.” (The Gospel of Life, #99). Grant him, we pray, a spirit of counsel and fortitude, a spirit of knowledge and piety, so that he may build up in the world the sacrament of the Church. By word and example may he be of service to those over whom he presides, so that, together with the flock entrusted to his care, he may come to eternal life. Dear Parishioners of St. Francis Borgia, " Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good His love endures forever. ( Psalm107:1) As a priest I was called to be Christ’s Ambassador to the world. My job is to be a joyful messenger of the Gospel. I try my best to be joyful and thankful! I thank God for the gift of life, gift of faith and gift of my priestly vocation. I’m thankful to God that my military training starts in January, so I will celebrate Christmas with You and we will sing together my favorite song: “Silent night, Holy night”… I thank God for a beautiful birthday present - On November 4, 2014 I became US citizen!!! I will honor and serve my new country and remember my roots and my heritage. If you were poor and by God's grace became rich- do not forget the poor (according to the teaching of our Holy Father). I’m thankful for You my Brothers and Sisters, Your congratulations and birthday wishes, Your kindness and Your prayers that my dream to serve our Brothers and Sisters in the military as a Army Chaplain came true. 7 years ago on May 20th, 2007 I celebrated my first Holy Mass at St. Linus Church in Oak Lawn. Father Bill Corcoran was more than my pastor; He was my teacher, mentor, and friend… for 5 years. He gave me roots to grow and wings to fly!!! I’ll always be grateful to Him and all parishioners of St. Linus for their love and support! St. Francis Borgia became my second home in July 2012. Father Richard is my mentor and teacher now. I thank God for His pastoral care and love and His creative wisdom. May God bless our dear Pastor!!! I thank God for Your presence in my life, Your love, Your support, Your prayers, Your warm smiles and kind words. Together let us give thanks to the Lord for His love is without end! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!! God bless You! Fr.
