Opponents of junk food decided to say ‘stop’ to unhealthy eating habits. They came up with the idea
of the Slow Food Movement. This idea is about paying more attention to preparing food and using
ingredients that are fresh and not processed. Slow Food is also about spending more time with family
and friends at the table and appreciating time spent together. This helps build stronger bonds between
people.

Can you imagine not adding a pinch of salt to your dinner? Try to avoid salt and replace it with
herbs and natural spices. Soon you will get used to new tastes and you will be able to fully appreciate
the original flavour of your food. What is more, it will reduce your risk of getting high blood pressure
and heart disease.

Many people think that if they eat twice a day they will consume fewer calories and therefore lose
weight. They are wrong. The key to a healthy diet and weight loss is to eat regularly. It is suggested
that you should eat five small meals a day, every three hours. Between meals grab a bottle of water and
drink, as this gives you more energy and reduces stress. Drinking water is not just to reduce your thirst.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
For many years the US had been under the rule of the British Crown. A lot of people disagreed with
this situation – they wanted their country to be independent from Britain. 4.1. ___ This gathering was
organized to discuss ideas for solving the problem of British control. The main aim was to think about
the possibility of creating a separate country. Politicians who were especially active in the discussion
included John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. 4.2. ___ That is why he was chosen
to prepare a document declaring the independence of the colonies. 4.3. ___ It said that all people had
the right to life, freedom and happiness. What is more, it stressed that all people were created equal.
According to the document, the role of the government chosen by its people is to respect those rights.
The paper also explained what the government should not do in a newly created country. On July 4,
1776 the declaration was announced. 4.4. ___ It is a holiday when families meet, have meals together
and enjoy their time together. In the evenings they gather in public places to watch firework displays.

We invite you on a wonderful journey through the
history of inventions. History is not only about
discussing wars and battles, but also about the way
ordinary people lived. Currently we are hosting
an exhibition of means of communication from
the previous century. Did you know that the first
cell phones were the size of a brick? Visit us every
day except Monday.
My history teacher is amazed by my knowledge
of World War II. He brings me a lot of books on
this topic but I would like to experience something
more than just text in a book. It would be amazing
to see real planes and weapons that were used
during the war. But what is most fascinating is how
people survived the difficult wartime conditions.
I admire the bravery of people who took part in
fighting against their enemy.

This place commemorates people who died in
the line of duty defending their countries. The
exhibitions here show how these people faced
great risks in taking action against the enemy.
The museum hosts original objects, like guns and
cannons used during World War II. We’re open
from Tuesday to Saturday.

I have always been interested in historical films.
I think you can learn a lot about the past from
movies. I’m not keen on facts but on people and
the relationships between them. I also enjoy
comparing old equipment with what we use at
home nowadays. I’m curious about whether the
fact that there weren’t so many devices like tablets
in the past helped people communicate better. With
my student card I can visit many places cheaply.

The museum is a place that documents different
aspects of European history, from the Middle Ages
to contemporary times. We have a special section
on the two world wars and other military conflicts.
You can watch a film about aircraft used in World
War II. As well as learning about historical events,
visitors can find out about literature, paintings and
music from different European countries. Students
can visit the museum for free.

History is not that popular among young people
but for me learning about the past is a passion.
I used to read a lot of historical books about wars
and battles. But what I enjoy most now is talking
to my elderly relatives about the way they lived in
their youth. It would be a wonderful experience for
them to go back in time and remind themselves
of the good old times. But I don’t have enough
pocket money to invite them all.
We are the world’s oldest open-air museum. During
your visit you can see traditionally furnished
houses and farms and experience life in the early
20th century. There are displays of old farming
equipment, original artefacts, like everyday objects
and clothing, and even a gallery of old photographs
from our region. You can also visit our garden
and say hello to our goats and horses on our
old-fashioned farm. Entrance is free of charge.

James Smithson was an English chemist, born in the 18th century. While travelling around Europe
