Zaimki wzajemne
Kolejna grupa zaimków - zaimki "wzajemne". W języku angielskim jest to para:
each other
siebie nawzajem, wzajemnie
(jeśli mówimy o dwóch osobach)
one another
siebie nawzajem, wzajemnie
(więcej niż dwie osoby)
Przykłady:
They love each other.
Oni się kochają.
(on kocha ją, ona kocha jego)
They love one another.
Oni się kochają.
(na przykład trzy siostry i brat, więcej niż dwie osoby - każdy kocha każdego)
Oto dwa zdania do porównania:
Adam and Eve buy themselves flowers every day.
Adam i Ewa kupują sobie codziennie kwiaty.
Adam and Eve buy each other flowers every day.
Adam i Ewa kupują sobie codziennie kwiaty.
Polskie tłumaczenia zdań są identyczne, jednak jest między nimi różnica
w znaczeniu. W pierwszym zdaniu Adam kupuje kwiaty dla siebie a Ewa dla siebie,
w drugim natomiast Adam kupuje kwiaty dla Ewy, a Ewa dla Adama. Trzeba nauczyć
się wychwytywać te subtelności.

Zaimki wskazujące
Zaimki wskazujące (this, that, these, those) używane są jako podmiot w zdaniach:
This is my cousin, Kate.
Those are my friends.
lub jako określników przed rzeczownikiem:
Whose is that pen?
Who are these people?
Zaimki nieokreślone
Zaimki nieokreślone tworzymy od określników: some, any, no, every, dodając
końcówki: -one, -body, -thing, -where, np. someone, anybody, nothing,
everywhere.
I need something to write with.

Do you have anything to say?
(zdanie pytające)
I don’t have anything to do today.
(zdanie przeczące)
I have nothing to do today.
(zdanie przeczące, gdzie zaimek nothing jest jedynym elementem przeczącym)
Użycie zaimków each, every, none, neither, another, the other, others,
the others:
