Highlights of the week (July 21 - 25)
Intel boosts employment significantly, the port of Gdansk records impressive figures for the first
half of the year, Gdansk and Sopot win "Rzeczpospolita" ranking for the best regional authorities
in Poland - these are the breaking news of the passing week.
Intel gets bigger
Intel R&D centre in Gdansk is growing big. The company will hire 300 engineers this year, which means that the total
employment in the centre will amount to 1300. Intel is currently working on new projects such as USB 3.0, wireless
display, HD audio. Growing employment means new investments into infrastructure – Intel is taking up a building that
Young Digital Planet used to occupy (the company moved to Gdynia). After renovation works the building will offer
4800 sq. m.

The Port of Gdansk has recorded 10% boost of the transhipment in the first half of the year (compared to the same
period of time last year).

Gdansk has won the ranking of Polish regional authorities. Sopot was placed the third. The ranking is carried out
