CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
We are pleased to invite you to submit symposium and poster proposals for the upcoming conference
“Motivation and Social Perception”, to be held 19-21th July 2016 in Gdansk, Poland. The conference will
be jointly organized by the University of Gdansk, the Jagiellonian University, and Society for the Study of
Motivation.
Motivation conference keynote speakers will include Nicola Baumann (Trier University), Roy Baumeister
(Florida State University), Ayelet Fishbach (University of Chicago, Booth School of Business), Guido
Gendolla (University Of Geneva), Tory Higgins (Columbia University), Jaana Juvonen (University of
California, Los Angeles), Małgorzata Kossowska (Jagiellonian University), Arie Kruglanski (University of
Maryland), Maria Lewicka (University of Warsaw), Bernard Weiner (University of California, Los Angeles),
Bogdan Wojciszke (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and Rex Wright (University of North

The conference will address social motivational and perceptual processes, focusing on issues of both
theoretical and practical concern. Symposium, oral presentations and poster submissions should pertain to
motivation and social perception broadly construed, including – but not limited to – topics such as
motivation and social perception in cognitive psychology, social psychology, work, organization, personality,
cognitive and behavioural science.
Symposia submissions should include a chair or two co-chairs and up to five speakers from different universities that present views on a common issue. Total session time will be 90 minutes and should allow for
discussion. Submissions must include the name and affiliation of the chair, the symposium title, a symposium abstract (150 words maximum), the names and affiliations of all speakers and their co-authors, and an
abstract describing the content of each presentation (150 words).
Oral presentations and poster submissions should include the names and affiliations of the poster presenter and the co-authors and an abstract describing the research to be presented (150 words).
All presentations and posters should represent completed work. Please do not submit a proposal if findings are still pending. Participants will be limited to one first authorship presentation, although there will be
no limit on the number of times a person may appear as an author other than first. Submissions will be
reviewed for acceptance by members of the Scientific Program Committee. Submitters will be notified via
email as soon as possible of the decision regarding their submission. The deadline for submissions will be
29th February, 2016.
Details related to the scientific program and associated activities (e.g., banquet, sightseeing tours: Gdansk,
Sopot, European Solidarity Centre: ECS, Gdansk Shakespeare Theatre, concert in Oliwa, Frombork, golf
