first hear this statement, it seems that Jesus is making an unrealistic demand upon us. How can we renounce all of our possessions? We need them to live. However, what we must renounce is the belief that they belong to us. Everything that we
have belongs to God alone. All of our resources are entrusted
to us not only for our own use, but also so that we can help others. Once we renounce the idea that we possess or are entitled
to anything, it is much easier to share the many gifts that God
has given us. Then we truly are His Disciples.

INVITED
The Good News is that we have all been
invited—invited to the Kingdom, invited to
be disciples. It’s a life-changing invitation,
and like so many other such invitations, it
requires a great deal of deliberation and
discernment. Whether we choose marriage,
ordination, single life, or community life, we know the serious
planning and consideration that accompany these profound
decisions. Like the tower-builder in the Gospel, we have
weighed both the monetary and emotional cost. We have pondered and planned our lives in the direction to which we believe God has called us. And while we pray for guidance and
acceptance of God’s will, we often fail to understand so much.
Like Solomon, we turn to God for wisdom and counsel in our
life-changing decisions.

September 11, 2001 Remembrance - Commemoration of
this infamous day in our lives on Sun., at 9:30am Mass asking God for peace and blessings throughout this troubled
world.
On Sunday, Sept. 11th at 9:30am St. Joseph School will celebrate the solemn opening of the new academic year 2016-2017.
All the teachers, administration, parents and above all students
will come together for Divine Worship to ask for the guidance
of the Holy Spirit throughout the unknown days of this school
year.
Our faculty will take the “Oath of Fidelity” to the Church and
the Sound Catholic Doctrine.
The Annual Family Picnic for students and their families will
begin at noon—3:00pm at Webster Memorial Beach.

JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
“If anyone comes to me without hating . . . father and mother,
wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his [or her]
own life”. Hating? Can anyone imagine a less appropriate
Gospel for the Jubilee Year of Mercy? But scholars call this
Semitic hyperbole. Jesus exaggerates to jolt us into confronting
life-changing challenges. Faced with conflicting loyalties, disciples must reorder priorities, even relationships, to give Jesus
and the gospel’s demands first place. Today’s second reading
presents a real-life example. Paul challenges his wealthy convert, Philemon, to welcome back Philemon’s runaway slave,
Onesimus, whom Paul has baptized in prison. Not only with
unconditional forgiveness but with a counter-cultural, worldshattering change of status—as an equal. No, even more—a
beloved brother in Christ. What in my life does the Jubilee Year
of Mercy challenge me to “hate”—meaning reform, redo, even
utterly revamp—so I can give everyone, no conditions, no exceptions, shockingly Christ-like love?

You joyfully fed the hungry, rallied for the poor and
unwanted, cared for the sick and dying and sheltered the
homeless. Let us imitate your love and generosity by reaching
out and assisting our needy ones.
We celebrate your canonization and praise our Heavenly
Father for the honor of sainthood the Church has now bestowed
upon you. We thank Him for the beautiful example of love He
gave us through you. In your life, you showed us how to follow
Jesus by loving and serving others. We pray that we can follow
your generous ways. Amen.
PARISH COUNCIL BALLOTS
The Parish Council is comprised of elected and appointed
members. At every Mass this weekend and next weekend we
will place ballots in the pews and kindly ask you to vote as
indicated on the ballot. Please deposit your completed ballot in
the collection basket. Thank you for your cooperation as we
look forward to working with our new council members.
MASS BOOK FOR THE YEAR 2017
Beginning on Monday, Sept. 12th we will be accepting
reservations for masses for the year 2017. Weekday masses
($10) and weekend and Holy Day masses ($15) are available on
a first-come-first-serve-basis. Please limit weekend masses to
three masses per family.
Rectory hours are: 9:00-noon and 1:00-4:00pm on Mon.,
Tues, Wed., and Fri. Telephone requests will be taken only
from those who are handicapped and unable to come to the
rectory.
The best gift offered for family members on special
occasions is to offer the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. The
Eucharistic sacrifice is the most effective prayer and therefore
should be requested for the deceased and living alike as well as
for special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries or other
significant days in your life.
ST. JOSEPH SCHOOL NEWS
We welcomed 210 students and faculty to our school for the
opening of the 2016-2017 academic year last Wednesday. On
First Friday students gathered at 8:30am Liturgy to ask God’s
blessings for a successful year.
Across the country thousands of students entered classrooms
to aspire for high intellectual achievement and formation of
character.
I want to thank our janitorial staff for their extra-ordinary
effort to make the school a clean, fresh and inviting place where
our students will spend a significant amount of time on a daily
basis.
NOVENA AND DEVOTION TO ST. JOSEPH
On Wed., Sept. 7th at 7:00pm we invite parishioners and
friends to join us for the Novena and Devotion to our Patron.
Much has been written about the goodness of St. Joseph and
testimony from many people who received blessings through
his intercession. This mass is offered for the intentions you
request on the forms available in the chapel. Members of the
St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club will assist in carrying our Patron’s statue into the sanctuary. Thank you for the offerings
placed in the petition box.
The Icon of Divine Mercy - is waiting for you to be taken
into your home for you and your family to renew your friendship with Jesus Christ. You may call the rectory to set a date

CEMETERY NOTES
You most likely noticed that the trash barrels at the cemetery were
removed because outsiders were disposing their household garbage at
the cemetery. We ask individuals to bring grass clippings and debris
to the dumpster near the garage or dispose of these materials at your
home. Do not leave refuse at the water stations. We realize this is
inconvenient for our parishioners but this is a necessary step. If the
dumpster is closed please leave the waste outside the receptacle.
Remember cameras are watching everyone at the dumpster.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION
Parents,who for whatever reason do not send their children to a
Catholic school have a sacred duty to provide a catholic education to
their offspring in virtue of the Sacrament of Baptism and Matrimony.
If you have not as yet registered your child into the Religious Education Program, please do so this week. Forms are available at the

YOUTH GROUP

“Nasyć nas z rana swoją łaskawością, abyśmy przez wszystkie dni
nasze mogli się radować i cieszyć.” (Ps 90, 14)
Nic w naszym życiu nie może konkurować
z Panem Jezusem. Cokolwiek nas odciąga od
Niego, winno się stać przedmiotem naszej
nienawiści. Nie sposób być Jego uczniem, jeśli
nie podejmie się radykalnej decyzji wyboru drogi
krzyża i odrzucenia wszystkiego, co oddala nas
od Jezusa. Ponieważ sami na taką wolność nie
potrafimy się zdobyć, musimy prosić w modlitwie o dar Bożej mocy
i mądrości z wysoka.
KORONKA DO MIŁOSIERDZIA BOŻEGO
Serdecznie zapraszamy na Nabożeństwo do Miłosierdzia Bożego,
które zostanie odprawione dzisiejszego popołudnia o godz. 15:00.
W każdą pierwsza niedzielę miesiąca gromadzimy się w godzinie
Męki Pańskiej, odmawiając Koronkę do Miłosierdzia Bożego
i wypraszając u Boga łaski potrzebne do świętego życia i zbawienia.

11 WRZEŚNIA
Wszyscy pamiętamy tragedię, jaka wydarzyła się 11 września 2001r.
w Nowym Jorku. W naszej wspólnocie parafialnej, będziemy modlili
się w intencji ofiar tych zamachów dzisiejszej niedzieli na Mszy św.
o godz. 9:30. Razem z uczniami z naszej szkoły i ich rodzinami
będziemy również prosić Boga o pokój na całym świecie.
MSZA RODZINNA
Zapraszamy wszystkich uczniów wraz z rodzinami na pierwszą
w tym roku szkolnym Mszę Rodzinną o godz. 9:30. Wspólnie
będziemy modlić się o wszelkie łaski potrzebne dzieciom, ich
rodzinom i nauczycielom do owocnego przeżycia nowego roku
akademickiego. W czasie Mszy wszyscy nauczyciele złożą
przyrzeczenie wierności nauczaniu Kościoła Katolickiego w swojej
pracy.
W związku z rozpoczęciem roku szkolnego na plaży miejskiej
rozpocznie się piknik rodzinny, który potrwa od godz. 12:00 do 15:00.
JUBILEUSZOWY ROK MIŁOSIERDZIA
„Jeśli kto przychodzi do Mnie, a nie ma w nienawiści swego ojca i
matki, żony i dzieci, braci i sióstr, nadto siebie samego…”.
Nienawidzić? Czy można wyobrazić sobie mniej odpowiednie słowa
Ewangelii w Roku Miłosierdzia? Uczeni bibliści nazywają to “semicką
przesadą”. Jezus wyolbrzymia ten przykład, aby wezwać nas do
konfrontacji z wyzwaniami, które są w stanie zmieniać życie.
W obliczu sprzecznych priorytetów, co do lojalności, uczniowie muszą
zmienić skalę ważności, nawet co do relacji rodzinnych, aby mogli dać
Jezusowi i Ewangelii wymagane pierwsze miejsce w ich życiu.
Dzisiejsze drugie czytanie prezentuje prawdziwie życiowy przykład.
Paweł prosi bogatego przyjaciela, Filemona, aby przyjął z powrotem
zbiegłego niewolnika, Onezyma, którego Paweł przywiódł do
nawrócenia i ochrzcił w niewoli. Nie tylko namawia go do
bezwarunkowego przebaczenia, ale również do przeciwstawienia się
uwarunkowaniom kulturowym i społecznym, i do zamiany jego
statusu, i zaakceptowani go jako równego sobie. Prosi go nawet o coś
więcej: o przyjęcie byłego niewolnika jako ukochanego brata
w Chrystusie.
Zastanówmy się do „znienawidzenia” czego wzywa nas w osobistym
życiu Bóg w Roku Miłosierdzia, tak byśmy mogli zreformować,
przekształcić, a nawet całkowicie zreorganizować dotychczasowy
sposób życia i dać wszystkim, którzy tego potrzebują, bezwarunkową
i bez wyjątków miłość Chrystusową?
NOWENNA DO ŚW. JÓZEFA
Na środę, 7 września o godz. 19:00 zapraszamy parafian i przyjaciół,
aby dołączyli do nas na Nowennie do naszego Patrona. Wiele już
napisano o dobroci świętego Józefa i wiele wypowiedziano świadectw
o otrzymanych błogosławieństwach za Jego wstawiennictwem. Msza
św. przed Nowenną jest sprawowana w intencji próśb zapisywanych
na formularzach dostępnych w kaplicy Matki Bożej. W procesji
z figurą św. Józefa będą szły członkinie St. Joseph Polish Women’s
Club. Dziękujemy za ofiary.
MODLITWA O KANONIZACJĘ ŚW. TERESY Z KALKUTY
Matka Teresa powiedziała, że jeśli będziemy się modlić, to będziemy
wierzyć; jeśli wierzymy, będziemy kochać; jeśli kochamy, będziemy
służyć.

INTENCJE MSZALNE 2017
Począwszy od poniedziałku, 12 września rozpoczniemy
pryzmowanie intencji mszalnych na 2017 r. Proponowana ofiara za
Mszę św. w tygodniu to $10 oraz w niedziele i święta $15. Intencje
Mszy św. będą zapisywane w kolejności zgłaszania. Bardzo prosimy,
wziąć pod uwagę ograniczoną ilość Mszy św. niedzielnych i w miarę
możliwości nie planować więcej niż trzy w ciągu roku, tak aby każdy
parafianin miał możliwość zapisania Mszy św. w niedzielę.
Pamiętajmy również, że Msze św. w ciągu tygodnia są tak samo
„ważne” w wymiarze modlitwy i ofiary, a od niedzielnych różnią się
jedynie tym, że są mniej uroczyste w formie.
Msze św. można zapisywać w biurze parafialnym w godzinach od
9:00 – 12:00 oraz 13:00 – 16:00 w poniedziałki, wtorki, środy i piątki.
Zapisanie Mszy św. przez telefon jest możliwe jedynie dla osób
niepełnosprawnych i takich, które nie są w stanie opuścić swojego
domu.
Najlepszym darem ofiarowanym przez członków rodziny na
specjalną okazję jest sprawowanie ofiary Jezusa Chrystusa w intencji
tej osoby. Ofiara eucharystyczna jest najskuteczniejszą modlitwą i
dlatego powinny być składana zarówno za zmarłych jak i żywych przy
okazji szczególnych momentów w życiu.
ST. JOSEPH POLISH WOMEN’S CLUB
Spotkanie Zarządu St. Joseph Polish Women’s Club odbędzie się
we wtorek, 6 września o godz. 18:30 w sali konferencyjnej w szkole.

CMENTARZ
W ostatnim czasie zostały usunięte z cmentarza beczki na śmieci,
gdzyż wiele osób wyrzucało do nich śmieci przywiezione z domu.
Jedynym miejscem na wyrzucanie śmieci na cmentarzu jest teraz
kontener przy garażu. Jeśli jest zamknięty można śmieci zostawić przy
nim. Prosimy nie pozostawiać śmieci przy kranach!
RELIGIA
Zajęcia katechetyczne rozpoczną się 19 września. Prosimy, aby jak
najszybciej zarejestrować swoje dzieci. Opłata wynosi $45 za jedno
dziecko i $70 za dwoje lub więcej dzieci. Formularze zapisowe są
dostępne przy wejściach do bazyliki.
