w II Liceum Ogólnokształcącym im. Krzysztofa Kamila Baczyńskiego w Świdniku
No. 16 / April 2011
Łukasz Kalinowski, uczeń klasy III A,
zajął 2 miejsce w konkursie "Make Friends with
English" organizowanym przez Nauczycielskie
Kolegium Języków Obcych w Chełmie. Był to 2.
etap konkursu, do którego zakwalifikował się
również Jakub Ulrich z klasy III C. Podczas finału
Łukasz przedstawił prezentację poświęconą historii
reklamy. Oprócz dyplomu i nagród rzeczowych
finaliści zapewnili sobie również indeksy Filologii
Angielskiej NKJO w Chełmie. Relację laureata
można przeczytać na stronie 4.
Tego samego dnia również w Kolegium
Języków Obcych w Chełmie odbył się finał
konkursu języka niemieckiego „Deutch macht
Spaβ”. Marzena Jaworska z kl. III C znalazła się
w piątce wyróżnionych. Marzena, podobnie jak
wszyscy uczestnicy etapu finałowego otrzymała
indeks Kolegium na kierunku Filologia Germańska.

na zapisaniu usłyszanego tekstu - dyktanda w j.
angielskim oraz napisaniu przeliterowanych słów.
Konkurs jest organizowany przez p. J. Kopniak
i p. D. Stępniak.
Zaszczytny tytuł Mistrza na 2011 rok
otrzymuje Kacper Paradowski - Gimnazjum nr
3 im. Noblistów Polskich w Świdniku, kolejne
miejsca zajęli również uczniowie Gimnazjum nr
3: Karol Kuterek i Adam Kimak.
Serdecznie gratulujemy laureatom oraz
ich nauczycielom.

zarówno tekstów pisanych jak i mówionych,
młodzież otrzymała nagrody i dyplomy za udział
w konkursach organizowanych przez uczelnię.

Wyróżnienie przyznano Dominice Majcher
z kl. IA. W podobnym konkursie na tłumaczenie
poezji organizowanym przez IV LO w Chełmie
najlepsza okazała się również Marzena
Jaworska.

La Pascua es la más importante fiesta en
España. Los hombres celebran este tiempo en las
iglesias y en las calles de las ciudades y aldeas con
mucha seriedad y toman parte en las procesiónes.
Además, todos los Españoles celebran la semana
antes de la Pascua y ellos la llaman Semana Santa.
En las costumbres en varias partes de país
son diferentes. Por Ejemplo en el norte de España,
en viernes, antes de la Semana Santa se puede oír
tambores, que anuncian que vamos a celebrar la
Pascua. La más famosas son las rutas de tambor
en Aragón, dónde mucha gente camina con sus
tambores. En la capital de Aragón - Zaragoza se
organiza más de 50 procesiónes. Muy interesantes
procesiónes son organizadas en el sur: en Sevilla,
Murcia o Valladolid. Los hombres, que se llaman
pasos y llevan la ropa antigua, tienen las
plataformas con las figuras de Jesús o María. A
veces, durante la procesión algunos hombres
empiezan cantar la canción religiosa desde su
balcón. Además, en algunas ciudades, se celebra la
Pascua bailando. En Sevilla los seises (los niños
que bailan en la ropa tradicional), bailan enfrente del
altar grande en el centro de la ciudad.
Es muy importante para los Españoles
celebrar la Pascua no solo con la familia, pero
también con toda la población de país. En las calles,
dónde las procesiónes son organizadas se pone las
sillas para las personas cansadas o viejos. La
celebración de la Pascua en España no es solo el
espectáculo cultural, pero también el tiempo para
informar todas las personas sobre la muerte
y resurrección de Jesús.

czyli Wielkanoc nie
tylko w Niemczech

versteckt hat und die man finden muss
wer sich am Ostersonntag im fließendem Bach
mit dem Osterwasser wäscht, bleibt immer jung
und schön
in Mexico dauert Ostern fast zwei Wochen und
man feiert es als Volksfest
in Griechenland feiert man Ostern nach dem
julianischen Kalender
der Brauch ,,Śmingus –dyngus“ genannt ist nur
in Polen bekannt
in Tschechien bäckt man am Karfreitag kein
Brot
in Italien ist der zweite Ostertag für ein Picknick
reserviert
in jedem Land in Europa isst man zu dieser
Zeit eine Menge Eier mit Salz oder Pfeffer,
mit Mayo oder aus Schokolade mit
Süßigkeiten gefüllt, also...........

Ein Schneeglöckchen wuchs schon irgendwo.
Der Schnee ist schon längst verschwunden

denn jeder riecht die Lunte.
Der Storch klappert,
Das Eichhörnchen knabbert,

trotzdem ist sie nicht länger grau.

Den Frühling sieht man auch in der Stadt.

der kleine Spaßvogel schießt mit der Pfeil.
Die Sonne scheint.
Niemand weint.
Die Sonnenscheine streicheln jedes Gesicht.
Ein Lächeln betrachtet man nicht nur als Pflicht.
Es riecht nach Blumen und Gras
Und nicht nach dem Staub.
Es herrscht eine Jagd nach Spaß.
Endlos gurrt die Taub‘.
Der Himmel ist wolkenlos,
seine Fläche zerreißt kein Schoss.
Durch die Straße geht ein Liebespärchen.
Die beiden sind verliebt wie im Märchen.(..........)

THEATRE NEWS
On 28th of February our class IE
with the company of IA went on
a one-day trip to Warsaw – our
beautiful capital.
As soon as we got there, we arrived
at the Imax cinema where we
watched a movie called “Hubble
3D”.In my opinion the movie was
stunning and the 3D effects appeared awesome! All in
all, the plot is about the team of astronauts who set off
on a trip to the space with the aim fixing a huge satellite
camera called Hubble.
In the evening we headed towards the Buffo
Theatre to watch “METRO” performance there. And
that was the most wonderful part of the whole trip.
“Metro” tells the story of a group of people trying to win
an audition. Unfortunately, they don't manage. But, after
that, they all come up with the idea of establishing their
own musical group in a local underground station. They
are not tempted by money or fame – all that is important
are true feelings. The two main characters are Anka nad
Janek – young people who have a crush on each other.
But something hampers their love to go on.
You should check the performance out necessarily!
It's absolutely, definitely and totally gorgeous!
The trip was great and I've been looking forward to
repeating it since the day we came back …

Winner's memories
On 26nd February
2011 I was in Chełm, in
Nauczycielskie
Kolegium Języków
Obcych im. Adama
Mickiewicza. The purpose
of my visit was due to the
“Make Friends with
English” contest, which
was organized there.
I managed to pass the first
stage of it and I decided to take part in the next
phase. Before boasting with my “work of art” I had to
listen to some interesting presentations by other
competitors, some of them were about the Royal
family in Great Britain, famous writers or even
prejudices about Brits.
Finally, it was my turn.
My presentation was about “The Art of
Advertisement” and I think, that I convinced the jury
with it. I guess they found my presentation peculiar
and persuasive. At last, I scored the second place,
losing only with a student, whose presentation
concerned the Wild West.
I have to admit that the prizes were very wellchosen. I received some books about grammar, a
dictionary and “The Moonstone”, the book written by
Wilkie Collins. And a vase, which turned out to be
useful for my mother.
I enjoyed this contest, preparations and the
competition itself brought a lot of fun to me. I hope,
that next year my school will score the first place,
which I did not managed to achieve.

In My Opinion …
Will traditional school serve its purpose in
the future?
Education
plays a key role in our
lives. Many people
believe that school is
the best place to gain
knowledge, but it is
also easy to find
members of society
who
claim
that
traditional school will
no longer serve its purpose in the future. It is quite
unbelievable and hard to imagine, though.
First of all, usual form of education is
inexpensive. As long as the government maintains
schools, parents will send their children there, mostly

because of economical reason. As a result, typical
schools will be prevented from falling into decay and
will perpetuate the role they play now.
Moreover, schools keep up with technological
development
and
introduce
state-of-the-art
equipment. Pupils do not only sit passively in
classrooms but they are allowed to expand their
knowledge by using the latest devices. Consequently,
students will be prepared for their jobs as effective
working on computers seems to be a necessary skill
in the future.
On the other hand, in some cases traditional
schools might be replaced by out of ordinary ones.
People tend to believe that unusual ways of
educating are more fruitful and shape our minds
better. However, it is the minority of people who really
want their children to attend extraordinary classes.
To sum up, ordinary schools will definitely
play their important role in the future, despite the
existence of a small group of opponents of this idea
and changing curriculum. I suppose traditional school
will still educate intelligent and successful members
of our society.

Why shouldn't we use mobiles during
the lesson?
Nowadays, mobiles are very important in
every human's life. Everyone has a cell phone,
starting with 7-year-old children and finishing with the
elderly. We use them to keep in touch with everyone,
no matter where we are. However, there are some
places where the use of mobiles is forbidden.
The first place is the church. It is very
impolite to use the mobile while being there. It may
make someone angry or disrupt the people who
came to pray …
The second place is the cinema. It is
extremely rude to use the mobile while the movie is
on. Everyone around will be annoyed.
The last place is school. Especially, if we use
our mobile during the lesson. It is harmful for us to
play with the mobile instead of studying. Everyone
knows that lessons are sometimes boring it won't be
great either. We can lose a mobile as well and, as a
consequence, we won't be able to call or text anyone.
It is unhealthy to carry the mobile all the time. Its
magnetic field may harm our bones or joints. It can
also cause infertility, which is the most frightening
reason why to leave a mobile at home and to reduce
the time we exploit it.
Summarizing, there is no point in using
the mobiles at all, so we'd better leave them at
home and start paying attention during our
chemistry classes....

Czasami warto się pochwalić...
A great leap in my education
Od września 2010 roku jestem uczennicą
II LO im. K.K. Baczyńskiego w Świdniku w klasie
z rozszerzoną matematyką. Wybierając się do tego
liceum chciałam kontynuować naukę j. niemieckiego.
Bałam się że po klasie z rozszerzonym j. niemieckim
w Gimnazjum nr 1, do którego uczęszczałam
zapomnę w liceum
czego się do tej pory
nauczyłam. Moje obawy były jednak niepotrzebne razem z przyjaciółmi z Gimnazjum trafiłam do grupy
zaawansowanej, gdzie mogę rozwijać swoją
językową pasję.
Ostatnio brałam udział w konkursie
translatorskim organizowanym przez Filologię
Germańską
KUL.
Moim
zadaniem
było
przetłumaczenie krótkiego tekstu literackiego.
Niestety praca nie okazała się tak łatwa, jak mi się
wydawało. Jednak chęci i pozytywne nastawienie,
pomogły mi zdobyć wyróżnienie w konkursie, co dało
mi jeszcze większą motywację do nauki języka.
Wyróżnienie odebrałam w budynku KUL,
gdzie brałam również udział w interesujących
lekcjach translatorskich. Dowiedziałam się wielu
rzeczy na temat tłumaczeń tekstów literackich jak
i o pracy tłumacza przysięgłego. Zajęcia bardzo mi
się podobały i mam nadzieję, że niedługo będę miała
okazję do wzięcia udziału w kolejnych lekcjach na
uczelni.
W zbliżające się wakacje wybieramy się na
Europejskie Spotkania Młodzieży do Teterow
w Niemczech. Organizatorzy oferują wiele atrakcji
turystycznych, takich jak wycieczki po Niemczech.
Będzie to spotkanie z wieloma narodowościami,
dzięki czemu będę miała okazję poznać kulturę
innych krajów, jak i podszlifować moje umiejętności
z języka niemieckiego i angielskiego, gdyż będę
miała kontakt z żywym językiem :)
Everything started in the year 2008 when
I graduated from my junior high school. I had to
choose where I will continue my education. Not
taking this into big consideration, I chose to attend
II LO in Świdnik. Now I can say I do not regret this
choice.
My first steps into the school corridor were
nothing special. I thought nothing more than it’s
a school I’m going to spend my next 3 years from 8
to 4 sitting at the desk, but that is not the school
that all is about.
Firstly, I met my classmates; secondly,
teachers. As far as the first mentioned are
concerned, in my mat-inf class I was among boys,
with only 3 girls, which is not a big drawback,
though. Certainly, my relationships throughout the
school years were changing, but all the time I was
really satisfied and glad I had so many people to
talk to and to share my interests with.
The hardest part to me could be talking
about the teachers. Actually, it’s the funniest part.
Maybe some of my first impressions about them
were not good, but also not correct. The teaching
staff in my school is a real variety of characters,
thus it was a real fun to spend some time with
them. Laugh was common at lessons, mark 1 as
well – they always have to maintain the balance.
Having said all that, I must add that my last
impressions are very good. I will really miss them.
Yet, I want to tell you about my English
contests I attended. The first one was a US Mock
Trial Competition. There was a huge pressure on
us as the previous year our students had won. We
were preparing a lot, but we came as the third
team. “Fox” was the contest I attended each year. I
was lucky to get a very good result in 2008 and
even got a reward. The second time I got nothing.
I’m still waiting for the results of my third run.
Surely, the most satisfying is my title of the Master
of English Grammar from the previous year. I am
proud because I was the best and it sounds
fantastic to me. All in all, there are lots of ways to
test yourself not only in English, but in all fields of
science. It gives a real sense of elation – why not
bother?
Now, I have my matura exam ahead. I’m
sure I will pass it well and I feel no stress. Not
yet. I just feel I’m leaving something nice
behind. During these 3 years of my life I
experienced successes and failures, but I will
remember them all as a good part of my life
and education.
