The International Center of Hearing and Speech is equipped
The International Center of Hearing and Speech is equipped with modern devices for distance learning of specialists. There is 3D teletransmission from the surgical theatre to the conference room and/or to the Head and Neck Clinical Anatomy Laboratory and via the internet simultaneously. 3rd International Conference on Telemedicine and Multimedia Communication Second Announcement INTERNATIONAL CENTER OF HEARING AND Kajetany, 21–22 October, 2005 SPEECH 2 3rd International Conference on Telemedicine and Multimedia Communication Welcome address Despite the fast development of telemedicine as scientific and practical discipline it is still considered a novelty in the global scale. That is because telemedicine is strictly interdisciplinary in character, combining medicine, computer science, telecommunications, multimedia technology, biomedical engineering, psychology, electronics as well as certain branches of physics (e. g. acoustics and optics) and mathematics (data analysis techniques). We organize the conference for 3rd time and extend the invitation to all interested specialists in the above domains of medicine, science and technology. The hitherto established forum for exchanging ideas between researchers, medical doctors and engineers, will serve again future developments of international co-operation in the domains of: general telemedicine, telepathology, distance learning and advanced multimedia communication services. That is necessary because the question still stands: how should health care organisations, technologies and research respond in order to maximise the positive potentials of citizens' participation in eHealth technologies?. This question will be answered principally by those engaged in the process of developing telemedicine and telecommunication technologies. While telemedicine and multimedia communication provide very broad topic, we would like to focus mainly on innovative character of research & applications, represented in terms of the design, development, implementation, assessment and application of emerging information and communication technology related to health. The problems related to diagnose, therapy and rehabilitation go beyond technology. The problems related to promoting the integration of health care with multimedia and telecommunication technology go beyond medicine. Consequently, eHealth technologies have to integrate efficiently knowledge and technology of both domains: medical and scientific, offering access and standards, in such a way that patients and health providers can be linked across regions even where the health care methods, techniques and data access systems are different. We do hope, that research results presented during the conference will provide many valuable examples illustrating present and future directions for broad domains of eHealth. That is why we welcome you to participate in this international event organized with nice and friendly atmosphere in the modern health care center in Kajetany, near Warsaw.
