God”. Do a quick check of your priorities, Where does God
rank in that list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do.
Putting God first in everything helps develop the attitude of “I
am grateful for the gifts God gave me” instead of “I want
more”. For most people gratitude leads to generosity.

Whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do,
do everything for the glory of God. - Corinthians 10:31
FOR THE GLORY OF GOD
The entire history of the Jewish people is directed
toward one goal: that God might be glorified
through the chosen people. Christians, too, are
called to “do everything for the glory of God.” In
today’s scriptures Paul reminds us that the best way for us to
glorify God is to seek to benefit “the many,” as Christ did when
he shed his blood for all of humankind.
The reading from Leviticus explains one way the Jews
sought to benefit the many, by keeping lepers and leprosy away
from the chosen people. Jesus finds a better way. He cures the
leper, who immediately re-enters the community to spread the
good news about Jesus to everyone who will listen. In this way
both Jesus and the leper fulfill their calling to glorify the God
who fills us “with the joy of salvation.”

Students and faculty will be enjoying their annual winter
break from Monday, February 16th through Friday, February
20th.
Presidents Day is an official federal holiday, therefore the
St. Joseph Rectory will be closed on Mon., Feb. 16th.
CHURCH IN LATIN AMERICA
Families around the world today face tremendous challenges.
In Latin America where Christian values remain important,
many families are wounded by hostility from the surrounding
environment and by broken relationships within the family.
Yet throughout the hemisphere, the Church continues to point
the way to Christ as the source of hope and healing within the
family and in society. Many family and catechetical ministry
projects funded by the Collection for the Church in Latin
America offers families and communities a way to strengthen,
affirm and celebrate their life together in faith, offering a different and hopeful vision of relationship with one another and with
God.
In our diocese this collection supports the work of our Hispanic Ministry and help newcomers to become active members

LENTEN LETTER
Most. Rev. Robert J. McManus reminds us of our spiritual
goals during the Lenten Season. Beginning with having ashes
imposed on our foreheads, this sacramental practice enables us
to receive God’s grace and to achieve our eternal purpose.

LENTEN REGULATIONS
Lenten fast and abstinence regulations for the Diocese of
Worcester are as follows:
Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics fourteen (14) years of age and older on Ash Wednesday, Good Friday and all the Fridays of Lent. Fasting is to be observed by all
Catholics who are eighteen (18) years of age but not yet fiftynine (59) years of age on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday.
Those who are bound to fast may take only one full meal. Two
smaller meals are permitted if necessary to maintain strength
according to one’s needs, but eating solid foods between meals
is not permitted. Catholics should not lightly excuse themselves from these prescribed Lenten penitential practices.
LENTEN SCHEDULE
Ash Wednesday - Imposition of ashes will take place during the Masses at 6:30am & 7:00pm. Also a prayer service with
the imposition of ashes will take place at 8:30am and at 3:00pm
Ash Wednesday Almsgiving. The Lenten season is marked
with three important Penance practices: fasting, prayer, and
almsgiving. As you receive the ashes at the altar, please consider making your sacrificial almsgiving by placing your donation in the basket in the sanctuary. This year’s donations will be
designated for the poor, hungry and needy.
Devotional Schedule: Sunday- singing of Gorzkie Zale
(Lenten Lamentations) every Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm.
Every Friday (the Stations of the Cross will be prayed at
1:00pm in English with the students of St. Joseph School
(parishioners & parents are welcome) and at 7:00pm in Polish.
Confessions. Confessions will be heard each day during Lent
following the 6:30am Mass and Saturdays at 3:00pm.
Children’s Lenten Mass. The 9:30am Mass every Sunday
during Lent is designated as Family Children’s Lenten Mass.
All families with children are invited to come and celebrate the
Eucharist.
The Lenten Season is associated with personal sacrifices,
good deeds, resolutions, etc. Every child who during the week
performs good deeds writes them (on a form provided) and on
the following Sunday during the Offertory Procession will
place the form in the“Lenten Flower Sacrifice Basket”. In turn
they will receive a flower to be put at the base of the cross.
These sacrifices will turn into a beautiful gift for Jesus at
Easter.
MASS, DEVOTION AND NOVENA TO ST. JOSEPH
On Ash Wednesday, Feb. 18th at 7:00pm we ask the Eucharistic Ministers to assist in carrying the statue of our Patron into
the Sanctuary. As the Lenten Season begins, this is an opportune time for us to ask for needed graces through the intercession of St. Joseph. Please write you petitions legibly on be read
during Mass. We appreciate your offerings.
POPE FRANCIS’ SECRET TO HAPPINESS
Be giving of yourself to others. Being open and generous
with others—especially those in need—brings us into an intimate encounter with Christ, who is the source of all joy. Jesus
assures us that whatever we do for the least of our brothers and
sisters, we do for him. Whenever we share material goods,
offer emotional support, extend a helping hand, or provide
spiritual sustenance, we not only ease someone’s burden, we
also discover that the experience enriches our lives, too. Pope
Francis warns that “if you withdraw into yourself, you run the
risk of becoming egocentric. And stagnant water becomes putrid”.
THE FEAST OF THE CHAIR OF ST. PETER
On Sunday, February 22nd, we will celebrate the festivity of
the Chair of St. Peter. This signifies the primacy of Peter and
the authority and power given to him by Jesus. Pope John Paul
II selected this day as a day of indulgence at St. Joseph Basilica. We encourage parishioners to take advantage of this special privilege by offering these indulgences, plenary or partial,
not only for the souls in purgatory but also for the living. Indulgences can be obtained by visiting St. Joseph Basilica, praying for the intention of our Holy Father and receiving Holy
Communion (confession if necessary).
FRIDAY NIGHT BINGO
Please join us for Friday Night Bingo at St. Joseph School
cafeteria. Doors open at 5:00pm, games begin at 6:45PM.
Door prizes-food available and free coffee. On Friday, February 20th the St. Joseph School Parents will assist the players in preparation for the games.
Many of our participants are from out of town and come
every Friday to experience meeting new friends and the anticipation of being a lucky winner. Proceeds benefit the parish

budget we must rely on several individuals who have worked tirelessly
to help in this cleaning effort: including Father Grzegorz Chodkowski,
Eugeniusz and Marek Rudnicki, Jaroslaw Bozek, Dariusz and Daniel
Ochocki.

SZÓSTA NIEDZIELA ZWYKŁA

„Przeto czy jecie, czy pijecie, czy cokolwiek innego czynicie,
wszystko na chwałę Bożą czyńcie.” (1Kor 10, 31)
Otrzymanie szczególnej łaski od Boga nie zawsze
owocuje większą wiernością. Trędowaty z dzisiejszej
Ewangelii, dotknięty i oczyszczony przez Jezusa,
natychmiast po uzdrowieniu postępuje dokładnie
odwrotnie, niż mu to zostało polecone. Oby ból Jezusa, który ze
względu na dokonany akt miłosierdzia był zmuszony zmienić swoje
plany, przekonał nas, że doznając Jego miłości w Eucharystii, nie
możemy już żyć po swojemu, szukając tylko własnej korzyści, lecz –
jak nas do tego zachęca św. Paweł – czynić wszystko na chwałę Boga.
POST ŚCISŁY
Początek Wielkiego Postu, Środa Popielcowa, jest nieodłącznie
związana z podejmowaniem postu wyrzeczeń. W diecezji Worcester
obowiązują następujące zasady Postu: wstrzemięźliwość od pokarmów
mięsnych obowiązuje wszystkich katolików w wieku od 14 roku życia
i musi być zachowywana w Środę Popielcową, Wielki Piątek
i wszystkie piątki Wielkiego Postu. Post ścisły obowiązuje wszystkich
katolików w wieku od 18 – 60 roku życia i musi być przestrzegany
w Środę Popielcową i Wielki Piątek. Post Ścisły polega na spożyciu
tylko jednego posiłku dziennie. Dwa mniejsze posiłki są dozwolone,
jeśli to konieczne, aby utrzymać siłę według własnych potrzeb, ale
spożywanie czegokolwiek pomiędzy tymi posiłkami jest
niedozwolone. Katolicy nie mogą dyspensować się od tego obowiązku
z błahych powodów. Nieprzestrzeganie Postu ścisłego jest grzechem,
z którego należy się spowiadać.

KOŚCIÓŁ W AMERYCE ŁACIŃSKIEJ
Rodziny na całym świecie mierzą się dzisiaj z wieloma wyzwaniami.
W Ameryce Łacińskiej, gdzie wartości chrześcijańskie pozostają
cięgle bardzo ważne, wiele rodzin dotyka wrogość ze strony otoczenia
oraz kryzysy związane z podziałami wewnętrznymi. Jednak na całej
półkuli, Kościół nadal wskazuje drogę do Chrystusa jako źródło
nadziei i uzdrowienia w rodzinie i w społeczeństwie. Wiele rodzinnych
i pastoralnych projektów finansowanych ze środków z Collection for
the Church in Latin America wspomaga rodziny i wspólnoty życia
w wierze, oferując im pełną nadziei wizję relacji ze sobą i z Bogiem.
W naszej diecezji tej kolekcji wspomaga działanie Hispanic Ministry
i pomaga tym, którzy przybywają na lepsze włączenie się w życie
sakramentalne oraz na lepszą edukacje i zaangażowanie w dzieła
charytatywne.
FERIE ZIMOWE
Uczniowie i nauczyciele naszej szkoły, w nadchodzącym tygodniu,
będą korzystać z zasłużonej przerwy w zajęciach. Ferie potrwają od
poniedziałku, 16 lutego do piątku, 20 lutego. Życzymy przyjemnego
odpoczynku.
SPOTKANIE FESTIWALOWE
Specjalne spotkanie dla wszystkich osób zaangażowanych
w organizowanie i przebieg Festiwalu w ubiegłym roku odbędzie się
w szkolnej kafeterii w poniedziałek, 16 lutego o 18:30.
PRESIDENTS DAY
W poniedziałek, 16 lutego będziemy obchodzić Presidents Day
na cześć wszystkich prezydentów, którzy przewodzili Stanom
Zjednoczonym. W związku z tym, że jest to oficjalne święto
państwowe, biuro parafialne będzie nieczynne.
NABOŻEŃSTWA WIELKOPOSTNE
Środa Popielcowa - posypanie popiołem odbędzie się po Mszy
o 6:30 rano i 19:00. Dodatkowo posypanie popiołem odbędzie się wraz
z krótkim Nabożeństwem Słowa o godz. 8:30 i na 15:00.
Jałmużna w Środę Popielcową. Okres Wielkiego Postu jest
na znaczony trzema ważnymi praktykami pokutymi: postem, modlitwą
i jałmużną. W czasie posypania popiołem będzie można złożyć ofiarę
dla wsparcia biednych i potrzebujących.
Gorzkie Żale będą odprawiane w każdą niedzielę po południu
o godz. 15:00.
Droga Krzyżowa będzie odprawiana w każdy piątek. Po angielsku
o godz. 13:00 z uczniami naszej szkoły (parafianie i rodzice są mile
widziane), i o 19:00 w języku polskim.
Spowiedź – codziennie po Mszy św. o godz. 6:30 oraz w soboty
o godz. 15:00.
Wielkopostna Msza dla dzieci. Msza św. o godz. 9:30 w każdą
niedzielę podczas Wielkiego Postu jest wyznaczony jako Msza rodzina
z udziałem dzieci. Wszystkie rodziny z dziećmi są zaproszone. Wielki
Post jest związany z osobistymi ofiarami i wyrzeczeniami,
wykonywaniem dobrych uczynków, podejmowaniem postanowień
i itp. Każde dziecko, które w ciągu tygodnia wykona dobry uczynek
może zapisać go na specjalnej karteczce i przynieść do kościoła, gdzie
zmieni je na kwiat, który później przyniesie w procesji z darami
i umieści u stóp krzyża, jako dar dla Jezusa.
ŚWIĘTO KATEDRY ŚW. PIOTRA
W niedzielę, 22 lutego będziemy obchodzić święto Katedry
Świętego Piotra. Papież Jan Paweł II wybrał ten dzień jako dzień
odpustu w Bazylice Świętego Józefa. Zachęcamy wiernych, aby
skorzystali z tego szczególnego przywileju, ofiarując uzyskany odpust,
zupełny lub cząstkowy, nie tylko za dusze w czyśćcu, ale także za

Katecheza – nie ma zajęć w poniedziałek, 16 lutego z powodu ferii
zimowych.

R.C.I.A. - program dla tych, którzy chcą być ochrzczeni lub
powrócić do wspólnoty Kościoła Katolickiego będzie odbywać się
w niedziele. Osoby zainteresowane prosimy o kontakt z biurem

DOBRZY PARAFIANIE
Wszystkim nam dokuczają obfite opady śniegu i wszyscy zmagamy
się usuwaniem go i ciągłym odśnieżaniem. Dlatego jesteśmy bardzo
wdzięczni parafianom, którzy wyciągnęli pomocna dłoń i pomagali
w ubiegłym tygodniu przy odśnieżaniu przy szkole i kosciele. W tym
tygodniu bardzo serdecznie dziękujemy naszym pracownikom panom
Eugeniuszowi Rudnickiemu i Jarosławowi Bożek za nieustanne
czuwanie nad tym, aby nasz kościół i szkoła były odśnieżone
i bezpieczne. Do grona osób wspomagających prace przy śniegu
dołączył pan Jarosław Gronek, który pracował z nami przez wiele
godzin w poniedziałek. W poniedziałek również udało nam się usunąć
sporo śniegu z parkingu. Było to możliwe dzięki panu Markowi
Rudnickiemu, który udostępnił samochód ciężarowy i swój własny
czas, oraz dzięki panu Dariuszowi Ochockiemu, który po raz kolejny
udostępnił koparkę do załadunki śniegu. Dziękujemy też Dawidowi
Ochockiemu, który przez cały dzień obsługiwał koparkę. Wszystkim
tym osobom składamy serdeczne Bóg zapłać!
REKOLEKCJE POWOŁANIOWE
Czy myślałeś o powołania do kapłaństwa? Biskup McManus
organizuje rekolekcje powołaniowe dla młodych mężczyzn, które
rozpoczną się w piątek, 27 marca o godzinie 18:00 i zakończą się w
sobotę 28 marca o godzinie 18:00 w Centrum Rekolekcyjnym
