We officially welcome to St. Mary of
Czestochowa Parish, Fr. Marian Furca!
Fr. Marian Furca, C.Ss.R, was
born in Ochotnica Gorna, Poland, on
February 6, 1961 and pronounced
his 1st vows in the Congregation of
Redemptorists on 1982. He was ordained a priest on May 31, 1987.
Three years after his ordination Fr. Marian was assigned to travel to Bolivia; where he served for 18
years. In 2008 Fr. Marian served as an Associate Pastor
at St. Stephen’s Parish in New Jersey.
Most recently Fr. Marian was assigned to be an Associate Pastor at our parish and we kindly welcome him.
Fr. Marian is now attending the Dominican University in River Forest where he is studying the English
language as a full-time student..
Fr. Marian comes to our parish with a wealth of experience! We wish him many happy years at St.
Mary’s! Welcome, Fr. Marian!
All parents of RELIGIOUS
EDUCATION (CCD) students
are invited to come to their
child’s classroom at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, January
21, 2012 to pick up their child’s report card and discuss their student’s progress with the catechist. If
your child id receiving First Holy Communion this
year we need his/her baptismal certificate.
Classes begin at 8:00 A.M. the regular time.
Parent/Catechist conferences begins at 9:00 A.M.
Students will be allowed to leave class with their parents after receiving their report cards.

SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
John 1:35–42
John the Baptist recognizes Jesus as the Lamb of God, and
Jesus receives his first followers.
Background on the Gospel Reading
Although the liturgical season of Ordinary Time begins this
week, today's reading continues with the celebration of the
Baptism of the Lord, which concludes the Christmas season.
Today's reading from the Gospel according to John immediately follows John the Baptist's testimony about Jesus and his
identification of Jesus as the Lamb of God. Having been baptized by John, Jesus begins to gather followers. The first followers sought out Jesus because of the testimony and witness
of John the Baptist.
We are familiar with the title that John the Baptist uses for Jesus—the Lamb of God. We hear it weekly at the fraction rite
during Mass. For those who heard John the Baptist, however,
this title recalled key themes from the Old Testament. It alludes
to the paschal lamb offered as a sacrifice when God freed the
Israelites from slavery in Egypt, the event that is commemorated by the Jewish Passover celebration. The designation
also recalls the prophet Isaiah's description of the suffering
servant of Israel. In using this name for Jesus, John the Baptist
predicts Jesus' passion and death and the new interpretation
of Passover that will begin with Jesus' Last Supper.
We learn in today's reading how Jesus' first followers were
gathered. The first two, Andrew and another man, were followers of John the Baptist. After hearing John's testimony, they
became followers of Jesus. During their time with Jesus, the
details of which are not specified, Andrew and the other follower came to believe that Jesus was the Messiah. Andrew
then brings his brother, Simon, to Jesus. Immediately, Jesus
gave Simon a new name, calling him Peter, which means
“rock” in Greek. The renaming of Simon to Peter is reported in
all four of the Gospels.
In the exchange between Andrew, the other disciple, and Jesus, we see an example of the usual pattern for first-century
Jewish rabbinical schools. Jews sought out rabbis and established themselves as disciples of a particular rabbi. Jesus appears to have been unique in that he sought out individuals,
inviting them to be his followers. In the passage that follows,
John's Gospel tells us how Jesus took the initiative in calling
Philip and Nathanael.
Jesus asks Andrew and the other disciple, “What are you looking for?” This is a telling question, and one that we might often
ask of ourselves. John the Baptist testified to Jesus' identity,
the Lamb of God, using the framework of the Old Testament.
Andrew, Simon, and the other first disciples were looking for
the Messiah, whom they also came to know as the Son of God.
What do we look for and what do we find in Jesus?

Imagine over 700 children getting
ready to receive the Eucharist for the
first time in their lives! Through the
generous support provided by the Collection for the Church in Latin America, last year these young boys and girls from St.
Blaise parish in El Pozón, Colombia were taught by
trained catechists so that they were well prepared for
their First Holy Communion.
For many in the twenty- two countries of South
America and the Caribbean, the funds from this collection provide the only help that individual parishes
receive to sustain and enrich the faith of their parishioners. Your contributions to this collection will assist
in the formation of seminarians, permanent deacons,
religious sisters and brothers, and lay ministers of the
Gospel.
The natural disasters which occurred in 2010 continue
to challenge the Church in Latin America. Your participation in this collection will help the Church to reestablish and strengthen her presence in this region
and ensure that the faithful can continue to experience
the Lord’s love in the sacraments and in their local
parish communities.
I am grateful for your support of your local parish, the
Archdiocese and the Universal Church. May God,
who is never outdone in generosity, continue to bless
you and your loved ones in this New Year. You and

A Neighborhood Watch meeting will be held on Tuesday,
January 17, 2012 at Woodbine School. The meeting will

En aquel tiempo estaba Juan con dos de sus discípulos y
fijándose en Jesús que pasaba, dijo: Este es el cordero de

Jesús. Jesús se volvió y al ver que lo seguían, les pregunto: ¿Qué buscáis? Ellos le contestaron: Rabí (que significa
Maestro), ¿dónde vives? Él les dijo: Venid y lo veréis Entonces fueron, vieron donde vivían y se quedaron aquel
día, serían las cuatro de la tarde. Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que oyeron a Juan y siguieron a Jesús; encontró primero a su hermano Simón y le
dijo: Hemos encontrado al Mesías (que significa Cristo).Y
lo llevó a Jesús. Jesús se le quedó mirando y le dijo: Tú
eres Simón, el hijo de Juan; tú te llamarás Cefas (que significa Pedro).

Padre Marian Furca, C.Ss.R
Padre Marian (Mario) Furca C.Ss.R
nació en Ochotnica Gorna, Polonia, el
6 de Febrero de 1961. En 1980 ingreso
al Seminario Redentorista en donde
estudio por siete años. El fue ordenado
como sacerdote el 31 de Mayo de
1987. Tres años después de su
ordenación sacerdotal, Padre Marian
fue asignado a viajar a Bolivia en
donde el sirvió por 18 años. En el año 2008 llego a Nueva
Jersey en donde estuvo trabajando como Vicario en la
Parroquia de St. Stephen.
Recientemente Padre Marian ha sido asignado a nuestra
parroquia con el puesto de Vicario, por lo que
cordialmente le queremos dar la bienvenida.
Actualmente Padre Marian se encuentra estudiando
Ingles en Universidad Dominicana en Forest Park tiempo
completo.
Le deseamos muchos años felices durante su servicio en
Sta. Maria de Czestochowa!

¡Imaginen a más de 700 niños a punto
de recibir la Eucaristía por primera vez
en sus vidas! Gracias al generoso apoyo que brindó la Colecta para la Iglesia
en América Latina, el año pasado estos
cientos de jóvenes chicos y chicas de
la parroquia San Blas, en El Pozón, Colombia recibieron
las enseñanzas de catequistas capacitados a fin de que
estuvieran bien preparados para su Primera Comunión.
Para muchos que viven en alguno de los veintidós países
de América Latina y el Caribe, los fondos de esta colecta
representan la única ayuda que reciben las parroquias individuales para mantener y enriquecer la fe de sus feligreses. Sus contribuciones a esta colecta contribuirán a la
formación de seminaristas, diáconos permanentes, hermanas y hermanos religiosos y ministros laicos del Evangelio.
Los desastres naturales que ocurrieron en el año 2010
continúan siendo un desafío para la Iglesia en América
Latina. Su participación en esta colecta ayudará a que la
Iglesia vuelva a establecer su presencia en esta región, la
fortalezca y se asegure que los fieles puedan seguir viviendo el amor del Señor en los sacramentos y en sus comunidades parroquiales locales.
Estoy muy agradecido por el apoyo que prestan a su parroquia local, a la Arquidiócesis y a la Iglesia Universal.

Jan stał z dwoma swoimi uczniami i gdy zobaczył
przechodzącego Jezusa, rzekł: Oto Baranek Boży.
Dwaj uczniowie usłyszeli, jak mówił, i poszli za
Jezusem. Jezus zaś odwróciwszy się i ujrzawszy, że
oni idą za Nim, rzekł do nich: Czego szukacie? Oni
powiedzieli do Niego: Rabbi! - to znaczy: Nauczycielu - gdzie mieszkasz? Odpowiedział im: Chodźcie, a zobaczycie. Poszli więc i zobaczyli, gdzie
mieszka, i tego dnia pozostali u Niego. Było to około godziny dziesiątej. Jednym z dwóch, którzy to
usłyszeli od Jana i poszli za Nim, był Andrzej, brat
Szymona Piotra. Ten spotkał najpierw swego brata i
rzekł do niego: Znaleźliśmy Mesjasza - to znaczy:
Chrystusa. i przyprowadził go do Jezusa. A Jezus
wejrzawszy na niego rzekł: Ty jesteś Szymon, syn

O. Marian od września do stycznia uczył się języka angielskiego w Uniwersytecie Dominikańskim w River Forest.

naszej parafii.

kapłańskim i misjonarskim!

Czym jest modlitwa
Modlitwa jest to otwarcie się człowieka na Boga. Modlitwa jest tym
lepsza, im głębsza jest nasza wiara:
im lepsze jest nasze życie - pełne
zaufania Opatrzności Bożej, Jego
Miłości i Miłosierdziu, pełne służby
bezinteresownej bliźniemu.
Ale z drugiej strony, aby życie było
15 stycznia 2012 r.
dobre, potrzebna jest człowiekowi dobra modlitwa.
Bez niej coraz mniej stać człowieka na prawdziwą
miłość.
Jezus sam często się modlił i podkreślał wielokrotnie, że modlitwa jest każdemu człowiekowi nieodzownie potrzebna.
Każda modlitwa powinna być dla człowieka uciszeniem, uspokojeniem przed Bogiem. Powinna być
spojrzeniem pełnym zachwytu dla Jego piękna, miłości, potęgi i mądrości.
Może to być nasze otworzenie się na Boga wtedy,
gdy przerażeni, zmartwieni, przygnębieni, zatroskani
prosimy Go gorąco o spełnienie czegoś, co jest dla
nas bardzo ważne, na czym nam bardzo zależy. I
prosimy Go o ratunek, o ochronę, o zdrowie, pracę,
egzamin, życie domowe - to mogą być nasze problemy albo problemy naszych najbliższych.
Może to być otworzenie się na Boga, gdy radośni
dziękujemy za otrzymane łaski, za spełnione nasze
prośby i błagania, za pomoc i opiekę, za osiągnięcia i
uratowanie od nieszczęścia.
Albo gdy jeszcze oszołomieni Jego mądrością, potęgą, pięknem, wspaniałomyślnością, która choćby na
moment nam się odkryła, mówimy Mu słowa naszego uwielbienia.
Albo gdy pełni skruchy,
pokory, żalu i gotowi do
zadośćuczynienia przepraszamy Go, żeśmy od
Niego odeszli, że życie
nasze nie było zgodne z
Jego wolą, żeśmy dopuścili się krzywdy przeciwko ludziom. Wtedy modlitwa jest również spojrzeniem na siebie Jego oczami, aktem samokontroli.
I tak modlitwy możemy podzielić na: uwielbienia,
przeproszenia, dziękczynienia i prośby. Każda angażuje całego człowieka: jego uczucia i wolę, nie jest
wyłącznie aktem intelektualnym.
Modlitwa ma rozmaite formy. Może być prywatna osobista i publiczna - społeczna. Każda modlitwa
chrześcijanina - nie tylko społeczna, ale nawet najbardziej prywatna - nie jest prywatna w sensie świeckim. Modlimy się do Ojca z Chrystusem - to Chrystus modli się z nami do swojego Ojca.

informację o ofiarach złożonych w roku 2011 na
naszą parafię, w ten sposób będzie można odpisać
tę kwotę od podatku.
