EXPECTED RESULTS OF MODERNISATION OF THE PANEUROPEAN TRANSPORT CORRIDOR no VI
Adjustment of railway infrastructure to the parameters defined in AGC and AGTC
Agreements, i.e. speed between Warszawa – Gdynia in passenger traffic to 160 km/h,
in freight traffic 120 km/h, on section Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Zawiercie in passenger traffic
to 250 – 350 km/h;
• Adjustment of railway infrastructure on section Zawiercie – Katowice to 120 km/h and on
section Katowice – Czechowice Dziedzice – Zebrzydowice and Czechowice Dziedzice –
Zwardoń to 80 km/h;
• Improvement of transport services by reduction of travel time and increasing passenger
and freight traffic density;
• Improvement of technical parameters of the line, increasing traffic safety and reduction
accident risk by implementation of new technologies;
• Improvement of traffic safety by replacing level crossings with engineering structures;
• Increasing effective use of the railway line;
• Implementation of interoperability due to the EU accession;
• Reduction of noise and vibration levels (installation of accoustic barriers, anti-vibration
isolation, jointless ground rails);
• Elimination of barriers for disabled people;

Scope of work:
• Replacement of rails, sleepers and turnouts on open routes,
stations and passenger halts;
• Complex modernisation of stations Gdynia, Tczew, Iłowo,
Działdowo, Nasielsk, Modlin, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Legionowo,
Construction/modernisation of viaducts, underpasses and culverts;
• Reconstruction of level crossings;
• Construction of parallel roads and grade crossings;
• Reconstruction of telecommunication
and signalling system enabling remote control;
• Adjustment of curves to enable higher speed levels

MODERNISATION OF E 65 RAILWAY LINE WARSZAWA - GDYNIA
The following contract agreements has been signed:
• For modernisation of Gdynia Główna Osobowa, stage I;
• For implementation of construction works within the area of LCS Nasielsk (local control center in
Nasielsk), on section Warszawa – Legionowo and on Nasielsk station;
• For implementation of construction works within the area of LCS Nasielsk: LOT A – complex
modernisation of Legionowo station, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Modlin;
• For implementation of construction works within the area of LCS Nasielsk – LOT B –
modernisation of open routes: Legionowo – Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki –
Modlin, Modlin – Nasielsk, Nasielsk - Świercze;

8 new local control centers (LCS)
will be constructed:
• LCS Gdynia;
• LCS Gdańsk;
• LCS Tczew;
• LCS Malbork;
• LCS Iława;
• LCS Działdowo;
• LCS Ciechanów;
• LCS Nasielsk.
MODERNISATION OF E 65 RAILWAY LINE WARSZAWA - GDYNIA
The following work conctracts will be awarded:
• LCS Tczew (stations and open routes)
• LCS Działdowo (stations and open routes)
• LCS Ciechanów (stations Gąsocin and Ciechanów, routes Świercze – Gąsocin, Gąsocin –
Ciechanów)
In the first half of 2009 tenders will be opened for construction of grade crossings within LCS Nasielsk, LCS
Działdowo and LCS Tczew, for modernisation of the area of
LCS Ciechanów (stations Konopki and Mława, routes Ciechanów – Konopki and Konopki – Mława).
Tenders for section Warszawa – Gdynia (LCS Iława, Malbork, Gdańsk and Gdynia, design and build type
contract for LCS traffic control system, DSAT devices, ERTMS/GSM-R, power supply system are to be
opened gradually up to June 2011.
The modernisation of Warszawa – Gdynia section is planned to be completed in 2013.

Modernisation of engineering structures on section
Opoczno – Olszamowice – Włoszczowa Płn. – Zawiercie;

Modernisation of overhead contact system on section
Olszamowice – Włoszczowa Płn. – Knapówka;
•
Construction of road viaducts and parallel roads (elimination of level crossings)
•
Implementation of ERTMS/ETCS level 1 on section Grodzisk Mazowiecki – Zawiercie.
•
Construction of two new passing loops on section Żywiec – Zwardoń, modernisation
of Zwardoń border station (spatial concept is under preparation);
•
Modernisation of Czechowice – Dziedzice railway node (terms of reference for documentation
has been prepared).
