The purpose of the Salvatorian is to strengthen, to defend and
to spread the Catholic faith everywhere insofar as this is committed to it by Divine Providence. Therefore, by exercising
this ecclesiastical teaching function in word and writing, it intends to achieve the end that all people might know more and
more the one true God and Him whom He sent, Jesus Christ.

Feast of St. Francis of
Assisi - October 4th
A saint for all!
October 4th, we celebrate
the feast of St. Francis of
Assisi, one of the most
popular saints for Christians as well non-Christians. He is a saint for all!
St. Francis has won the love and the admiration of
so many generations, by living the Gospel and presenting poverty, chastity and obedience with the
purity and strength of a radical, loving and personal
witness. His “universal brotherhood” is expressed
in his love for his “brothers” - men and women,
rich and poor, sick and healthy, faithful and sinners,
believers and unbelievers, for animals and all nature - and reveals to us a soul in which God
is undivided, a soul nourished by the truths of the
Catholic faith and abandoned completely to Christ.
The desire for the gospel that Francis made the
Christians of his time discover continues to fascinate and invite all to live his life style integrally.
The ideal of love lived by Francis in simplicity,
yet in fullness, also set forth a call and an attraction
that transformed Assisi at the beginning of the 3rd
millennium. From this place of peace and prayer, St
Francis continues to spread his message in the
world, still rich of teachings for our times as well.
His lifestyle inspired by the Gospel, his commitment to imitating Christ, his message of an authentic being who knew how to reach peace with God,
with himself, with others, and with creation is still
relevant for today’s people. The central message of
St Francis was to lead the Christians of his time
and of successive generations the desire of Gospel
lived "sine glossa", in an authentic manner, fully
and sincerely, convinced that it is only to the one
who strives to live integrally that he reveals
his perfect happiness. Love of Francis for God becomes the source of the love for his brothers
and all of creation. Love for all creatures is a reflection of Francis’ love for the Creator.
October is the month of the Rosary.
We will have Recitation of the
Rosary in English every Tuesday after the
7:00 PM Mass.
Every Thursday after the 7:00 PM Mass will be
Rosary Devotions in Polish Language.
On Sundays, the Rosary will be recited prior to the
9:30 AM Mass in English & prior to the 10:45 AM
Mass in Polish.
Our Lady of the Rosary.
This feast was instituted by
Pope St. Pius V in thanksgiving for the great naval victory over the Turks at the battle
of Lepanto on this day in the
year 1570, a favor due to the
recitation of the Rosary. This
victory saved Europe from
being overrun by the forces
of Islam.
Lepanto, perhaps the most
complete victory ever gained
over the Ottoman Empire, on
October 7, 1571, is commemorated by the invocation "Help of
Christians," inserted in the Litany of Loretto. At Belgrade the
Turks were defeated on the Feast of Our Lady ad Nives in
1716. A second victory gained that year on the Octave of the
Assumption determined Pope Clement XI to command the
Feast of the Rosary to be celebrated by the universal Church.
Leo XIII added the invocation "Queen of the most Holy Rosary, pray for us," to the Litany of Loretto. The Feast is in reality a great festival of thanksgiving for the signal and countless
benefits bestowed on Christendom through the Rosary of our
blessed Queen.
In modern times successive popes have urged the faithful to
pray the Rosary. It is a form of contemplative prayer, mental
and vocal prayer, which brings down God’s blessing on the
Church. It is a biblically inspired prayer which is centered on
meditation on the salvific mysteries of Christ in union with
Mary, who was so closely associated with her Son in his redeeming activity.
Things to Do:
Pray the Rosary, or 5 decades of the Rosary tonight with your
family. Continue this practice through October, the month that
is especially dedicated to the Rosary.
Read the encyclicals on the rosary, and the latest apostolic letter.
Learn the Luminous Mysteries. For families with younger children, it helps to have visual aids for the mysteries. Have a picture to flip at the beginning of each decade for the family Rosary. See the Activities Bar for ideas.
Learn how to make rosaries, cord and/or wire for missions.
Learn about the great victory of Our Lady at the Battle of Lepanto. You can also read more about Pope St. Pius V, who instituted the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary.
"The Rosary, or Psalter of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is one of
the most excellent prayers to the Mother of God." Read the
Directory on Popular Piety and Liturgy on the Rosary, particularly encouraging the practices of:
The recitation of the Rosary could be made more solemn in
tone "by introducing those Scriptural passages corresponding
with the various mysteries, some parts could be sung, roles
could be distributed, and by solemnly opening and closing of
prayer."
The custom of making an insertion in the recitation of the Hail
Mary, which is an ancient one that has not completely disappeared, has often been recommended by the Pastors of the
Church since it encourages meditation and the concurrence of
mind and lips.
St. Pius V was a very holy Dominican, who wore his scratchy
habit underneath his papal robes, and walked around Rome
barefoot. He ate just to sustain himself, and fasted frequently.
We should use his example and remember to fast and pray the
Rosary for the conversion of Islam.

San Francesco d’Assisi
4 ottobre
fermento dell’eta’ comunale.
solitudine in totale poverta’.
dovunque accorrevano a lui folle numerose e schiere
generazione.

Kowalskiej
Urodziła się 25 sierpnia 1905 roku we
wsi Głogowiec jako trzecie spośród
dziesięciorga
dzieci
w
rodzinie
Stanisława i Marianny Kowalskich. Do
szkoły chodziła niecałe trzy lata, a
potem poszła na służbę do zamożnych
rodzin w Aleksandrowie Łódzkim i Łodzi.
klasztoru. Przynaglona jednak wizją cierpiącego
Chrystusa, w lipcu 1924 roku wyjechała do Warszawy,
by szukać miejsca w klasztorze. Przez rok
pracowała jeszcze jako pomoc domowa, by zarobić
na skromny posag. 1 sierpnia 1925 roku wstąpiła do
Zgromadzenia Sióstr Matki Bożej Miłosierdzia w
Warszawie. W tym Zgromadzeniu przeżyła 13 lat
przebywając w wielu domach, najdłużej w Krakowie,
Warszawie, Płocku i Wilnie, pełniąc obowiązki kucharki,
sprzedawczyni w sklepie z pieczywem, ogrodniczki i
furtianki. Chorowała na gruźlicę
płuc i
przewodu
pokarmowego, dlatego
ponad 8
przekazanie Kościołowi i światu orędzia Miłosierdzia,
które jest przypomnieniem biblijnej prawdy o miłości
miłosiernej Boga do każdego człowieka, wezwaniem do
zawierzenia Mu swego życia i czynnej miłości wobec
bliźnich. Jezus nie tylko ukazał jej głębię swego
miłosierdzia, ale także przekazał nowe formy kultu:
obraz z podpisem Jezu, ufam Tobie, święto Miłosierdzia,
Koronkę do Miłosierdzia Bożego i modlitwę w chwili
Jego konania na krzyżu, zwaną Godziną Miłosierdzia.
Do każdej z nich, a także do głoszenia orędzia
Miłosierdzia przywiązał wielkie obietnice pod
warunkiem troski o postawę zaufania Bogu, czyli
pełnienia Jego woli, oraz świadczenia miłosierdzia
bliźnim.
Siostra Faustyna zmarła 5 października 1938 roku w
klasztorze w Krakowie - Łagiewnikach mając zaledwie
33 lata. Z jej charyzmatu i doświadczenia mistycznego
zrodził się Apostolski Ruch Bożego Miłosierdzia, który
kontynuuje jej misję, głosząc światu orędzie Miłosierdzia
poprzez świadectwo życia, czyny, słowa i modlitwę. 18
kwietnia 1993 roku Ojciec Święty Jan Paweł II wyniósł
ją do chwały ołtarzy, a 30 kwietnia 2000 roku zaliczył do
grona świętych Kościoła. Jej relikwie znajdują się w
Sanktuarium Bożego Miłosierdzia w KrakowieŁagiewnikach.
