TARS @ NOTRE DAME 1:00 & 2:45PM CATECHETICAL SUNDAY 2015 " “Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Human Person." This year, the Church will celebrate Catechetical Sunday on September 20, 2015, and will focus on the theme "Safeguarding the Dignity of Every Human Person." Those whom the community has designated to serve as catechists will be called forth to be commissioned for their ministry. Catechetical Sunday is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each person plays, by virtue of Baptism, in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. Catechetical Sunday is an opportunity for all to rededicate themselves to this mission as a community of faith. The RCIA, Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults, is a spiritual journey for those who wish to be baptized in the Catholic faith and also for those already baptized Catholic who would like to receive the sacraments of First Eucharist and Confirmation. Also RCIA is for those who were baptized in another Christian faith and wish to make a profession of faith to the Catholic Church. Classes for the RCIA will be held Thursday evenings at 7:009:00 p.m. in the Religious Education Center, Schoolroom 101, beginning in October. For more information, please contact Ruthanne Swiatkowski in the Religious Education Office at (773) 625-1705. The Knights of Columbus-St. Anthony de Padua Council will be holding their annual Tootsie Roll Drive the weekend of September 19 and 20. All proceeds benefit organizations and groups which serve Developmentally Disabled children and adults. Please support their efforts by giving a donation as you leave the Church. The Knights of Columbus and St. Francis Borgia volunteers will be at the Church exits. Catechetical Sunday is September 20, 2015. For the pastoral activity of the Church, the cooperation of a great many people is needed so that communities as well as individuals may advance to full maturity in faith and continually show forth their faith through the celebration of the liturgy, study, and through their manner of life. Enlightened by God’s Word and the teaching of the Church, catechists impart to others the formation to live their lives as followers of Jesus Christ. The St. Francis Borgia School teachers and the Religious Education catechists received a special blessing as their respective school year commenced to aid them in their ministry of teaching and inspiring our parish children about the Catholic faith. We bless the name of the Lord for giving us those who teach the Catholic faith and pray that through the Holy Spirit they will receive the grace they need in their service to the Church and to our parish. We will pray for vocations from our Archdiocese and our Parish together with Matthew Pajor, a Seminarian from St. Joseph Seminary, who will be our speaker next weekend at all the Masses. The second collections next week will be taken to support the Seminary System in our Archdiocese. —Fr. Richard Milek COME VISIT THE RELICS OF ST. MARIA GORETTI AT ST. JOHN VIANNEY CHURCH World Meeting of Families Prayer God and Father of us all, in Jesus, your Son and our Savior, you have made us your sons and daughters in the family of the Church. May your grace and love help our families in every part of the world be united to one another in fidelity to the Gospel. May the example of the Holy Family, with the aid of your Holy Spirit, guide all families, especially those most troubled, to be homes of communion and prayer and to always seek your truth and live in your love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Jesus, Mary and Joseph pray for us! Respect Life Come to the Church “On what reasonable grounds and with what imaginable right can anyone suggest that any human life since that time of Abram, is less precious or valuable than that of Isaac? Or has less potential in the plan of our Creator? What a savage, unconscionable, heinous act it would have been to have put this special gift of God, Isaac, to death in his mother’s womb. And to how many potential Isaacs has that happened and is still happening……The right to life is the greatest civil rights issue of our time. This is the issue that will determine whether America remains a hospitable society, committed to caring for women in crisis and their unborn children, -or whether America betrays our heritage and the truths on which the founders staked their claims to independence….No one has to have an abortion. To all those in crisis pregnancies, I pledge our support and our financial help. Come to the Catholic Church. Let us walk with you through your time of trouble. Let us help you affirm life. Abortion need not be an answer ...” ---Archbishop Edwin O’Brien THANK YOU from Fr. Joe ... We will have a bus leaving from the St. Francis Borgia parking lot at 10am on the 13th. We will travel to St. John Vianney, and return about noon. If you wish to ride the bus, you must call the rectory to reserve a seat: 773-625-1118. First a great thanks to St. Francis Borgia parish for your support of our deaf ministry. As one of your "Sharing parishes", you recently gave our ministry a very generous donation. Second, a heart-felt word of gratitude to all those who contributed school supplies/backpacks for children who are victims of sexual abuse. Because 75% of abuse happens in their own homes, many of these children cannot return home. Yet, they want to feel "normal", like the other students returning to school. The school supplies reassure them that there are people who want to help them, not hurt them. Thanks again, for ALL you are doing for "the least of your brothers and sisters". Z Biurka Księdza Proboszcza... Kochani Bracia i Siostry, proszę Was o modlitwę o bogate, duchowe owoce Pielgrzymki Ojca Świętego Franciszka do Stanów Zjednoczonych.
