Jesus has shown us the path to abounding joy. It comes when
we give generously of ourselves. It comes when we love and
serve one another. Like the disciples on the road to Emmaus we
don't always recognize Jesus' way. Or maybe we just try to
ignore it.

MAY –THE MONTH OF MARY
May is traditionally the month of growth in regard to
nature, and for this reason, May is one of our favorite
months. It is extremely beautiful, but it is also important
in the Church. May is traditionally the Month of Mary,
where we recall the role of Mary in salvation.
She is the Virgin Mother of God, whose "yes" allowed Our Lord to take
human form. Because of her complete trust in God, she lived her life
sinlessly. And, after her life, she was assumed into Heaven by the
power of God and crowned as Queen of Heaven and Earth.
We worship Jesus Christ, but since Mary is, of course, not divine,
we honor Mary as a saint. Why? The simple answer is because it
makes our Lord happy. Most people are honored and thus
complimented, and the same is true for Mary. We honor God by
remembering the role of Mary in the beginning of our salvation. And,
remember, “Devotion to Mary” always leads to Jesus Christ!

NABOŻEOSTWA MAJOWE
Matka Boża Królową Maja
Przepiękną formą sławienia Królowej Polski są
właśnie nabożeństwa majowe, odprawiane w
kościołach,
przy
krzyżach
i
kapliczkach
przydrożnych, szczególnie pięknie przystrojonych w
tym wybranym miesiącu. Jest to wyraz wielkiej wiary
Polaków, którzy dzięki niej właśnie przetrwali burze
dziejowe, nawiedzające często naszą Ojczyznę.
Nabożeństwa Majowe wrosły w naszą polską rzeczywistość. Piękny
miesiąc maj w Kościele poświęcony jest Matce Najświętszej, która od
zawsze jest drogowskazem w naszych codziennych zmaganiach.
To za Jej wstawiennictwem pragniemy polecić Bogu ważne sprawy
naszych rodzin, naszego bytu. Ludzie są bardzo zabiegani, a światu
brakuje pobożności. Dlatego przypomnijmy sobie jaką wagę
przywiązywali do Nabożeństw Majowych nasi dziadkowie czy rodzice
gdy byli jeszcze dziećmi. Życie biło spokojniejszym rytmem, a przy
wiejskich kapliczkach, czy kościołach jak kraj długi i szeroki gromadzili
się różni ludzie. Czasem trzeba było pokonać nawet parę kilometrów,
ale nikt nie narzekał i zapału młodym nie brakowało. A jak jest dzisiaj?
Problemem się staje pójście do kościoła czasem oddalonego tylko
kilkaset metrów. Może warto zastanowić się: Jaką wiarę przekażemy
naszym dzieciom?
Póki co biegnijmy na majówki z ochotą i radością, a jeżeli komuś
brak czasu może odmówić Litanię do Matki Bożej w rodzinnym gronie.
Niechaj najpiękniejszy miesiąc w roku, poświęcony Matce Bożej,
będzie dla nas zachętą nie tylko do ukwiecania kapliczek i Jej
wizerunków, ale przede wszystkim do śpiewania tej wyjątkowej
modlitwy, jaką rozbrzmiewają kościoły podczas nabożeństw
majowych.

Co czyni matkę dobrą?
Co czyni kobietę matką? Jej cierpliwość?
Zdolność do współczucia? Do niańczenia dziecka?
Gotowania mu obiadów, przyszycia guzika do bluzy?
Czy to wszystko razem?
A może serce które niepokoi się, gdy dziecko idąc
pierwszy raz do szkoły, znika na horyzoncie ulicy?
Czy raczej zdolność do zrywania się o drugiej w nocy,
aby położyć rękę na ramieniu dziecka
śpiącego w łóżeczku?
Czy też potrzeba biegnięcia, gdziekolwiek by się
znajdowała, na wiadomość o pożarze w szkole,
strzelaninie, wypadku samochodowym,
po to aby przytulić swoje dziecko?
To są życzenia dla wszystkich mam, które wyjaśniły
swoim dzieciom, skąd się wzięły i dla tych, które chciały
to zrobić, ale nie potrafiły. Także dla tych, które czytały
książki tylko dwa razy w roku i dla takich, które czytały
książki codziennie i po wielokroć, gdy tylko usłyszały
"jeszcze raz przeczytaj mi, mamo" i dla tych,
które nie mogły czytać.
Dla tych, które zdesperowane dały klapsa swemu
dziecku w sklepie spożywczym, a potem kupiły lody
przed obiadem. To jest dla wszystkich matek,
które nauczyły swoje córki wiązać sznurowadła
przed pójściem do szkody i dla tych,
które wybrały buty na rzepy.
Także dla tych, które zagryzały wargi do krwi,
gdy ich czternastoletnia córka
ufarbowała włosy na zielono.
Jest to dla tych matek, których dziecko
zamknęło się w kazience i nie mogło przestać płakać.
Też dla tych, które przychodziły do pracy
ze śladami dziecięcego jedzenia na ubraniu
przeznaczonym wyłącznie do pracy.
Także dla tych matek, które uczyły swoich synów
gotować i dla tych, które pokazywały swoim córkom jak
podnosić się z upadków. Jest to dla kobiet, które
natychmiast odwracały głowę, gdy tylko jakiś głosik
zawołał w supermarkecie "Mamo!", nawet gdy ich
własne dziecko było w domu.
Jest to dla mam, które kładły pluszowego misia na
poduszce. Jest to także dla tych matek, którym nie
udały się dzieci i nie znajdują słów wyjaśnienia dlaczego
tak się stało. Jest to dla mam, które dały dzieciom życie
w nadziei, że będą one miały lepszy los niż ten,
który jest udziałem matek.
Także dla tych kobiet, które zostały matkami w inny
sposób i wychowały dzieci jak swoje własne.
To jest dla mam, które wysłały swojego syna do szkoły
z bolącym brzuchem, tylko po to, aby za godzinę
usłyszeć telefon od szkolnej pielęgniarki,
proszącej o odebranie dziecka.
To jest dla młodych matek, którym zdawało się,
że ucieka im kariera, i dla matek dojrzałych,
dla pracujących i pozostających w domu,
rodzonych i adopcyjnych,
mających pieniądze i bez pieniędzy.
Dla wszystkich matek na całym świecie...
„Jest jedna miłość,
która nie liczy na wzajemność,
nie szczędzi ofiar, płacze i przebacza,
odepchnięta wraca - to miłość
macierzyńska...”
Wszystkim Matkom naszej parafii pragniemy
złożyć jak najserdeczniejsze życzenia
błogosławieństwa Chrystusa Zmartwychwstałego,
zdrowia, radości, pokoju
i wdzięczności od swoich dzieci.
Niechaj Patronka naszej parafii – Matka Boża
ma w swej macierzyńskiej opiece wszystki Matki
i będzie dla nich wzorem codziennego życia
- tego z serca życzą i o to się modlą

What is the Roman Missal?
Bulletin Insert 2 – The third typical edition of the Roman Missal

On November 27, 2011, the English speaking Catholic Church in the United States will begin using a new translation of
the prayers that are used at Mass. This bulletin insert begins the second set of announcements being published in parish
bulletins to help parishes prepare for this coming change. Please check the bulletin regularly for more information.
The Missale Romanum
What exactly is the Missale Romanum? Missale Romanum is the title of the Latin book approved and published by
the Vatican containing all of the texts used at Mass. The current English translation of this text in the United States is
titled the Sacramentary. When the new translation is published, it will likely no longer be called the Sacramentary
but will be given the title Roman Missal, the literal translation into English of the Latin title Missale Romanum.
The Latin phrase tertio editio typica is often associated with the latest edition of the Missale Romanum, meaning that
this is the “third typical edition.” Why the third? Because there have already been two previous editions of this
book. The first edition was published in 1970 shortly after the Council; the second appeared in 1975 and is the one in
use at Mass today. The third typical edition was promulgated in Latin in 2002 and is the text currently undergoing
the translation process.
What is the difference between the first, second and third editions of the Roman Missal? Not much, actually, but
there have been a few changes to the forthcoming third edition. For example, when a new saint is added to the
calendar, new prayers for his or her feast are added to the Roman Missal. Also, in order to provide more options,
new prayers are occasionally added to the Mass. At times, more specific directions (rubrics) for the priests and
ministers of the Mass are added. There were also some minor changes in translation with each edition, but not as
significant as will be seen in the third edition.
Once a new text is officially created in Latin, it is up to the different conferences of bishops around the world to
translate them into their own languages. It is a painstaking process, but they want to make sure it is done correctly.
The initial translation into English is done by ICEL (International Commission on English in the Liturgy). The
bishops of each English speaking country then review it before giving their approval and sending it to Rome for final
confirmation.
Naturally, the approval of the new translation does not happen at one meeting. In the case of the Roman Missal,
because it is so lengthy, it was reviewed in sections by the US bishops and approved one segment at a time. There
are also various groups at the Vatican who have to review it before the Holy Father gives it his final approval for
publication. It can easily take years from the time a new text appears in Latin until an English text is ready and
available for use in the liturgy. The third typical edition of the Roman Missal was promulgated by Pope John Paul II
in 2002, but it is not scheduled to appear in English until Fall of 2011, nine years after it was published in Latin.

At the beginning of the Roman Missal there is a document entitled the General Instruction of the Roman Missal
(GIRM). This document provides explanations for the various parts of the Mass and gives directions as to how they
are to be celebrated. Over the next seven weeks, quotes from this document will be included in the parish bulletin.
Be certain to read them each week to learn about the parts of the Mass. Learning about the Mass can help to increase
the people’s participation in its prayer, ritual and music.
